Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon!

3. Event: The Faire's in town! Feast, socialize, dance, play games! There's plenty to do and the grounds on Mundus are packed with festivities for all to enjoy.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

The man who gets off the boat looks completely comfortable for someone who just appeared on a floating boat. He smiles as he looks around. "Well it's no Olympus, but I haven't seen my good for nothing youngest brother yet so it's not all bad," he muttered.

He was careful to stay away from anything living, he hadn't tested his powers in this reincarnation yet and he didn't want to send one of the natives to the afterlife before their time. He walked along, looking for all intents and purposes like a movie star in a biker jacket. Only those with the eyes to see would know him for who he truly was.

Freya Vaughn || Original Character

[personal profile] luckyescape 2016-08-04 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc: Freya is from a world that has everything earth has + some more. So please let me know if she can fourth wall. She happens to like comics but I can adjust her memories of them.]

New Arrival:

[Freya steps to the side of the boat and watches as the waves lazily lap against the hull. Her black tattered backpack is slung over her shoulder with the weight of the books and keepsakes pulling at the replaced straps. She's had it for as long as she's been running and it rarely leaves her side.

She waits for the moors to be tied securely on the dock before making her way towards the edge of the boat. Her fingers drum lightly on the rail as her patience begins to thin. She doesn't hate boats but her better nature dislikes them as a general rule.

Stormy gray eyes set forward as her boots finally step on the solid comfort of dry land. She exhales, feeling the knots in her shoulders loosen with a soft exhale of breath that pulls from her lungs. She can smell the earth and over the stale salt of the sea its refreshing. A light smile tugs at Freya's lips and while being completely new to this island she looks as if she knows exactly where she's going.]

Event

Freya hummed as she moved through the festivities. She liked the atmosphere, the lights and sounds and the sweet promise of adventure teasing at her senses. Her short stature made moving through the crowds difficult though Freya was agile, quick and skilled at finding her way around cumbersome obstacles. She'd flash anyone she saw a warm friendly smile, her expression brimming with earnest confidence.

Her dark clothing stood out but she didn't cared and a few of her tattoo's were visible as if painted on her pale skin: the compass on the inside of her right arm, the tree on her shoulder blade and the roses on her left shoulder. Waves of golden hair cascaded down her back as she paused at the games lining the rows. It had been a long time since she played any of these games but they looked like they could be fun.

A loud voice bellowed through the grounds calling for people to throw a ball and win a prize. Freya stepped up to the game picking up a small ball and rolling it between her fingers.

"Ready to play?"

Professor Alice Marie Colwin || Original Character

[personal profile] thruthemagnifyingglass 2016-08-05 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Arrival:

In the realm of the unexpected this neared the top. Alice remembered accepting a new position at a prestigious college and the next thing she knew she was on a boat floating in the sky. Panic settled in her stomach but she quieted the small voice with a firm hand.

"Curiouser and curiouser..." The words slipped from her lips, her smooth voice only a whisper as the boat pulled against the dock. This was real, it had to be, but she didn't know what it meant.

"It looks as if I've fallen down the rabbit hole."

Alice hoped that this was simply a detour in her life and not a permanent change. Her sister would grow worried if she didn't check in, worried and angry. Alice never looked forward to seeing Emily angry.

I've found the library however I don't know where to start. There are so many books and so much information that I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I would be very thankful if anyone would be kind enough to give me suggestions.

Wild Card/Exploration (Feel free to run into her where ever.)

[Alice is a field researcher by nature and her heart is in her work. She can be found anywhere with a journal in her lap and a pen pinched between her fingers. She draws what's in her sight first and then lists a brief description as well as her thoughts.

A small smile tugs at her lips as she works. This is something that she loves. It isn't the same as finding a way home but it's something she's used too.

To those walking by she can even be heard talking to a plant, rock or animal that she might be watching. Her voice is soft and sweet and her comments range from, 'aren't you a beautiful sight' to 'it would be wonderful to fly']

[personal profile] somniavi 2016-08-05 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
semel in anno licet insanire; arrival
[ It was a ship. A fucking ship. Now, Ronan was excellent at telling the difference between dreaming and being awake, but this? This was the kind of shit that only ever happened in children's stories or in the really bad tv shows that got cancelled after two seasons.

Fantastical, said Gansey's voice in his head.

Kidnapping, countered Ronan, unable to keep from responding to his best friend, even inside his own head.

The second the ship had docked, the second he could jump down and feel actual ground below his feet, he let his eyes travel over the crowd, combing it, seeking out a face that a) didn't make him want to smash his fist right into it, and b) looked even remotely like it could possibly hold something like answers.

Once he'd found the target, he stomped over, head tilted back, blue eyes full of anger and arrogance -- his customary look that said don't approach; will bite. The swirls of his tattoo snaked up his shoulders.
]

The fuck's this? [ The wave of his hand was a knife cutting through the air, indicating everything around them; the ship, the land. The people. ]

bellum omnium contra omnes; settling in
He sat on the steps leading up to his house ("his house", what a fucking joke), bouncing a ball in his hand. The ball was light, almost translucent, and its descent seemed uneven, like the ball was forgetting it was supposed to be affected by gravity. Chainsaw was perched on his shoulder, her claws tearing welts into his t-shirt.

Chainsaw, he supposed, was an answer to a problem -- no, the problem, the only problem that really mattered. Chainsaw was awake; but then, Ronan thought, Chainsaw was also here. That was the whole extent of his problem. His dreams would continue to live as long as he was alive... and here, he certainly was. Back home, though? Did his sudden existence on these godforsaken islands mean his equally sudden lack of existence back in Henrietta?

It was a thought that pricked his skin like thorns.

With a low growl, Ronan hurled the ball in his hand towards the opposite wall with as much force as he could muster. He wore his anger like a second skin; Ronan Lynch had always been that, angry energy, harsh lines and barbed wires, but now it was overflowing, a wound that bled and bled and bled, waiting for the blood to run out.

Chainsaw, startled by the sudden movement, took off into the air, her black wings beating fast as she screeched, in surprise and reproach. Ronan glared at her.

"What the fuck do you know? Just shut the hell up. Go yell somewhere else."

As for anyone who had been drawn by the sudden noise, opened a window to see what the shattering sound had been, Ronan only gave a glare, icy and dangerous and uninviting of questions.

Jack stepped off the boat and looked around a bit unsettled. He had been on the Ice Maiden and now he was on a different boat. Not that a floating boat bothered him much, but he was still confused. Then a lovely young native walked by and Jack perked up a bit.

"Captain Jack Harkness and you are," he said cheerfully holding out a hand.

[Henry had woken up on the boat and not freaked out. It was quite normal for him to appear somewhere he hadn't woken up, though the memories weren't as easy to recall as they had been. While he was alone, he checked his abilities and found them unchanged which was good to know. Then he walked up to the deck of the ship and looked around. He remembered being on a ship with his father and the pain of it made him sigh. Looking around, they were obviously going towards that island so he enjoyed the fact he was sailing again before they landed.

He was given a communicator and a map and took his time looking around the docks just in case he saw someone he recognised. Last time he'd arrived in a place, his grandfather had been there. He could only hope one of his family members was also here. The other option, of course, was if someone recognised him because he'd been here before. After his time in Ruby City, he wouldn't discount any possibility.]

[Violet had awoke on a flying boat which alone piked the teen's interest and let's be real, kept her from freaking out. So she was atop the deck, trying to find out how this thing was flying without water while holding onto her locket, the only link for the moment to her family. But when the boat landed she was quickly distrustful of the welcome wagon, blame Count Olaf and so many awful guardians for that. But she accepted the device as she made notes to see about getting a broken one to simply take apart.]

"So curious yet so worrysome." the young woman in a black dress and matching hair ribbon mused as she started the lonely hike to the island that was now home. The only thing that would make this any less painful however was not around, her brother and sister.
----
(Getting Settled)

[Violet had found her footing somewhat as a hired repairwoman for the various shops around the islands. She would leave computers to those that knew them but she could handle anything else from jammed doors to trouble causing blenders. So with her tool kit in tow she was walking to her first job of the day, the juice bar was having trouble with a blender and then she would be at the butchers to see about a walk in freezer that was acting up. But now she was dressed in jeans and looking like a proper handywoman.]

Thor had not been on these islands for long but it had been long enough for him to realize that the rainbow bridges weren't Heimdall's doing, the flight he could sustain was not to his normal ability and Mjolnir seemed little more than just a warhammer.

Something was grounding him here, something he didn't quite understand, and it was puzzling to him. Also puzzling was the thought that he would have to obtain and sustain some sort of employment, earn his keep, and that was something that he'd never done as the son of Odin.

At the moment, he was attempting to follow the recipe for one of the elaborate coffee drinks at the coffeehouse and failing at it. First, he forgot the vanilla, then the cream. In frustration, he gripped the handle of a mug too tightly and it shattered in his hand.

"I am the son of Odin! Why should I have to toil in such a menial way? I am no thrall, no mere human!"

While it seemed logical to him, his employer did not see it the same way and after words were exchanged, Thor took his leave of the place. So much for that.

Getting Settled

Naturally the first thing that Varric did once he got off the boat was find a bar. Not just because he needed a drink, though that was naturally a factor in his decision, but also because bars and taverns were the best sources of information anywhere. All he had to do was settle down in the middle of the crowd and listen. Once he got a feel for the atmosphere, he could slide in a few words here and there to encourage the conversation.

"No."

Intoned an elvhen woman roughly the height and temperament of several wet house cats staked on top of each other shouldering what at first glance was halberd twice that. The friendly old dock worker awkwardly scratched thin and graying hair under a threadbare cap. All the poor man asked if she had any questions only to be met with a blank stare and tight-lipped answer.

"Thank you." Morwen said it more as an after thought as she pocketed the map and communications device. A small crowed started to near all wearing faces of curious concern as the dour little woman made a break for headlong into the sea of people.

[a r r i v a l]

"Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ." It was murmured under her breath as Claire brushed back the wayward strand of hair that had escaped. Where she was, she didn't know. The last thing she could recall before waking up on that ship was returning to Lallybroch.

Yet, it was clear that this wasn't Lallybroch. She had checked herself for signs of injury, yet not a bump was on her head or a bruise upon her body- at least nothing new. It still didn't explain that ship, which seemed to float on nothing or where exactly she was.

Looking down at the map in her one hand and the device in her other, Claire was at a loss. In a way it was more familiar to her than the time she had tumbled in to, yet it was far beyond anything that Claire had ever witnessed. Regardless, she wasn't going to lose her head over any of this.

No, what she needed was answers and a way to return. Glancing back at the docks, she could see no stones nor did she recall that feeling that had come. Rather, she had just suddenly out of the blue appeared on that ship, which was why she had uttered those words that she had uttered plenty times before.

"And if I click my heels three times, shall I return home?" Again, under her breath, and to no one in particular. Rather, it was a turn of her own frustration.

[n e t w o r k]
[It is text, which has taken Claire a little bit to figure out. The device is familiar in some ways, but completely foreign in others. In a way, she handles it like she would if she were writing a letter. And, she feels akin to what she believes Jamie would feel if suddenly displaced in to her time.]

Good evening.

New Arrival

Of all the things Darcy's good at, apparently handling being on a boat for more than an hour is not one of them. There goes any hopes and dreams she may have of potentially doing an all-ladies version of I'm On A Boat. Which is what she's choosing to focus on instead of the fact that she has no frigging clue how she wound up on the boat in the first place.

As soon as they docked and were allowed off, she beelined to be off as quickly as possible in a desperate attempt to find something resembling her normal balance. Which is why, if anyone sees her, they'll find her looking fairly green around the gills and fighting against the impending feeling that she's going to loose whatever's left of her breakfast.

Event

Okay, so while the faire here isn't anything like the fairs or carnivals she knows from back home, it's at least a cousin to what she's used to. There's definitely a lack of crazy fried foods, but there's food. There's no slightly sketchy carnival rides that may or may not be up to code, but there's dancing. And the games? Well, they're probably just as rigged at the carnival games she grew up with.

After losing the bean bag toss in a truly spectacular fashion (she swears that she didn't mean to throw it that hard and hit the guy running in the game in the stomach), and almost stepping (stomping, really) on her partner's toes during a dance, she's retired to the sidelines with a fizzy honey-colored drink and what she's pretty sure is a turkey leg. "So," she starts to no one in particular, just trying to make small talk more than anything else, "are these kind of things normal here?"

This place wasn't like much of anywhere Ganymede had ever lived, save for the things that every place had in common: people, shops, the bustle of the market and the quietness of the lonely corners and spaces. He wasn't all that shocked nor all that upset to find that the islands floated, nor that there seemed to be no way off them, because he'd lived with that before.

At least no one was proving themselves as personally and relentlessly invasive as he'd half-expected.

With his hair braided and up in a knot at his nape, he wandered aimlessly around Aerilon and Imber, as always finding himself less at home but far, far more comfortable near water than mountains. In his ankle-length skirt and shirt it was easy to mistake him for a girl from the back before hearing him speak.

Grace was just too smart for someone so young, she was 10 thank you very much. She worried about things that no 10 year old should have to deal with, especially her Dad Danno, he was a trouble magnet. She always trusted that he would find her, so why should now be different?

This isn't right. She'd been intending to head downstairs to watch Jamie and Ian collect the rents (to help them collect the rents; God knows Jamie probably doesn't know what he's doing, and as much as she loves Ian, she knows he's not the one who can make Jamie do what he should), and instead she woke up in this dark place. Wherever it is. Why was she asleep? Did she hit her head? She doesn't think so. It's not pounding like she would expect it to if she had hit it, and her careful prodding of her head reveals no bumps or tender spots.

She doesn't appear to have hurt herself anywhere, so that's a small blessing. She makes her way up the nearby stairs -- waddles, more like; she doesn't go anywhere in a hurry anymore -- and is surprised to find herself on the deck of a boat.

That is definitely not right.

There are docks in the distance, and people. Hopefully one of them can give her an answer. All she knows is that she's not where she should be, and she doesn't know where she is. Everyone else on board seems to be as confused as she is, at least, which means it's not likely that any of them are responsible for this.

But someone on shore must be, which means that somewhere on shore are the answers. All she can do right now is wait quietly, if not particularly patiently, until she arrives there. She stands at the rail, hands around her stomach, waiting. Ooch. This bairn could arrive tomorrow and she wouldn't complain.

As soon as the boat touches the dock, she's the first one stepping off the ship, needing to find an answer. She strides right up to the first person she sees, having no idea who's in charge around here. "I want to speak to whoever has brought me here. They cannae just take people from their home like that."

It's a good two days before Michael leaves his home.

Once he's sure that everything he's heard is true: that he's far from home, that Linc is safe until he gets back...that whatever the hell is happening in that room back home is frozen until whatever force that brought him here deigns to let him leave, he lets himself believe it long enough to really settle.

He takes a hot shower. He fixes himself a snack. He takes another hot shower, bathroom door closed and locked. He watches TV.

He takes a lot more hot showers. Door locked, dead silent, all the privacy in the world.

After a couple of days, he gets back on track and he sets up his office just so. He doesn't have a lot of information to start, but he organizes what little he has before he sets foot out of the house for the day.

Dressed in jeans, a wifebeater, and a short sleeve buttondown that hung open and left his tattooed arms exposed, Michael sat on his porch for a few hours, just enjoying the warm afternoon. Later, he went for a walk around the island...then goes for a similar walk around each of the other islands, ending with Aerlion and its marketplace. He's careful to talk to people, to learn what he can as casually as he can...

And to make sure that, if he sees any law enforcement, that he's careful not to draw attention to himself as he tries to learn more about the mysterious place he's now calling home.

The man that moves through the crowds is an imposing figure - his shoulders hunched, his stride large and heavy, his hands clenched at his sides in fists, it all screams "intimidating". His attire certainly doesn't help, what with his dark robs and expressionless metallic mask, eyes hidden behind slits that are practically black holes.

This is not a place he belongs in. He jerks his head from side to side, as if expecting somebody to leap and attack him when he isn't looking. Sifting through the Force only confuses him further - surely, what it's telling him can't be true. This can't be real. Is this some test, arranged by the Supreme Leader? Some mental maze, filled with ghosts of his past and unfamiliar people?

He doesn't know. Either way, he needs to get answers, and he'll do that by grabbing some poor passerby roughly by the shoulder, his fingers pressing in hard to the skin. His voice comes out heavy, filled with crackles and hisses from his voice modulator.

"What is this? Who are you? Answer me now."

If he doesn't get his answer, he can be found stalking through the alleyways and streets, looking like he's intent on going somewhere, anywhere, but here. He looks like a caged animal that wants nothing more than to escape.

[Her first reaction is shock--how had anyone managed to get through the wards on the coven house? They were shielded well enough that gods would have difficulty getting through, and she sure as hell would have remembered them trying.

Her second is disgust, followed quickly by anger. How dare they touch her, drag her from her home and drop her here like she's nothing? Someone is certainly going to pay dearly for this. Once she finds out who they are. If she finds out who they are. They couldn't have just left no trace, could they?

Her hands tighten into fists at her sides while she glares at nothing in particular, no doubt making some of the people who happened to wander across her gaze uncomfortable, but she doesn't care. This is justified fury. Still, as angry as she is, she knows to stay cautious. She's unprotected, unwarded, unguarded by her sisters. That in and of itself restricts her power. Elsa tried to communicate with the people on the floating ship. How did she get here? Were the Southern Isles involved? Where was Anna? But no one would respond to her. She could feel frost begin to develop at her palms and fingertips and breathed through it. No need to send a snowstorm through and send the ship crashing down from the sky. She kept her patience and tried to stop herself from pacing amidst all of the others that were on board.

When they finally docked, she practically flew off the boat only to be confronted by the people waiting for them. Again, the Queen tried her best to be polite as she was surrounded and tried to ask them: where were they? What was this place? Where was her sister? She needed to get back to Arendelle. How could she--

But they kept brushing her off. They pushed things into her hand. Elsa grasped them but she tried to push more and more for the locals to talk to her. Maybe someone else on the ship would know or perhaps someone else in town. She followed along the docks and called out to someone, anyone.

Yet.

She steps a little ways off the pier away from the biggest amount of traffic before turning her attention to her new phone and map. She's more interested in getting some kind of answer from a person, however.

She approaches the nearest person she finds away from the pier. The people at the dock had greeted her in English, which she knows a little of but nothing more than a couple of classes. She's hardly fluent.

"What is place?" she asks, in a thick Japanese accent. That sounds wrong, and she dislikes being so bad at something.
