Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon!

3. Event: The Faire's in town! Feast, socialize, dance, play games! There's plenty to do and the grounds on Mundus are packed with festivities for all to enjoy.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

Option 1:

"Abba, Abba" was the only sound that kept former Very Special agent Anthony DiNozzo from completely losing it and ending up in the fetal position. He took a calming breath, trying to settle is rapidly beating heart. He glanced down at the little girl in his arms, and felt the knife twist in his gut once more when he thought about the fact Tali would grow up without her mother.

He was never more grateful that he learned some Arabic than he was now. He brought Tali with him to the rail, careful not to get to close. He was thinking Paris, because of the fond memories there. This would work too, he supposed. When in Rome.... He stepped off the boat, grabbed a map, and was completely lost.

"Excuse me?"

Option 2:

[The device clicks on and Tony's smiling, although not quite reaching his eyes, face hits the screen. Tali, dressed in a cute denim short jumper, is sitting on his lap, playfully wacking at his face ]

If you would have told me two weeks ago that I would have a kid, and end up on some island, I would have bet my entire Bond collection you were wrong.

I really like Bond, but definitely Connary..... Bronson was okay, and Dalton? Yeah lets not even go there....

Anyway, I'm Tony DiNozzo, and this lovely lady is my daughter Tali. [ His face gets pained for a moment, but leaves as quickly as it came ]

This is new to me, and I have to do right by here, so any kind of advice, or maybe the 411 on baby-sitters?

[Arrival]

It had been a long journey, from the Wall to Oldtown, but when wakes up on this boat, he knows it's almost over. There's something strange about it, though. The boat looks different, for one thing, and he can't hear the water anymore. He stumbles his way through the dark to the deck above, and the first thing he determines while blinking away the sudden sunshine is that he is dressed too warmly in his Night's Watch furs. There's no constant cold here. He should have taken that into consideration when he set off in this direction.

He still doesn't think this is right though. Nothing he has heard about Oldtown indicates that it is surrounded by clouds like this, and he doesn't recognize any of his fellow passengers. There even seems to be one missing. "Gilly? Gilly? Where are you?" This is terrible. He's supposed to be taking care of her and baby Sam, making sure nothing happens to them, and now he's lost them.

He follows the crowd off the boat onto the docks, still hoping to find her. "Gilly?"

[Library]

He has waited as long as he can. He has gotten settled in, and met a whole mess of Starks, and switched out his too-warm clothes for something more appropriate. Today he is going to visit the library he's heard about. Maester Aemon had relied on Sam to be his eyes for more than just reading and writing letters, and while that library had contained more than his father's library had, it doesn't compare to what he's heard about the library at the Citadel. He wants to see this one for himself.

Following the map and the directions the others gave him, he finds the library easily. When he steps inside, he knows that this will not be a waste of a visit. There are more books here than he has seen in his life. He may be gawking just a little with an awed look on his face. Sorry.

1 - Stab Boat Harry stared at the oncoming islands with a sigh, a resigned sigh. "Really? Here and now? I gotta do this thing again?"

Floating islands were new, but appearing somewhere new he had not planned to be was growing all too familiar. He stared around him, then back at the islands, and wondered what the spiel would be this time.

He had been trapped on an island before, and that was no fun at all, but he was hoping this was no Neverland.

Besides which, he thought, as he sank down again against the side of the boat, he was in no condition to save the day, this time. He groaned as he kept one hand on his side and closed his eyes. He really wished he had brought his field kit this time. All he had were his battle items, and those helped not a whit when he was bleeding all over the deck like a stuck pig.

Hellfire.

He had managed to evade most of the problems of his older self, and change the timelines, both for himself and for a few of his alternate selves, but apparently, he was supposed to get attacked or hurt after the Red Court war in most timelines. Only this time, instead of ordering a hit on himself, a former employee of Gentleman Johnny Marcone had attacked him with a Feyknife. He didn't even dare remove the damn thing, because it was in too deep.

He had fought the man off, but that didn't keep Harry from being in bad shape when he vanished from the ambulance and appeared here.

This was so how his life went, though, really...

2

A week later, Harry was feeling much better, and he had found his skybike, powered by something that he couldn't really figure out, working at his place, after he was released from the clinic. Thank the powers for small favors.

He was putting around the island looking at shops, and trying to decide what the heck he was going to do next. His staff was secured in a holster on the side of the bike, which resembled an old World War 1 motorcycle, which was what it was made from. His helmet was all white, was was the duster coat he wore.

He was definitely open to being bothered.

Alec still didn't really understand where the hell he was. Okay, technically it wasn't hell. He'd been there and this place was much more pleasant than that dimension. Still... this wasn't New York. He hadn't been able to find his siblings or Magnus. Or any other Shadowhunters. Which was why his marks were glamoured so he'd look 'normal' even if he carried himself like a soldier instead of a Mundane.

Wandering around the island, he tried not to look too intimidating. His bow was magicked away so only someone with the Sight would notice it and he was trying not to scowl even if he was worried about his family. His expression turned from concern to something that Simon would have described as 'geeky' as he saw the skybike. His gaze moved to the staff and he arched an eyebrow before focusing on the rider. "Nice bike." For some reason it reminded him of the vampire motorcycles back home. "Can it fly?"

"Thanks." Harry grinned at the man, and nodded. "It can. Not sure how, here, since it's not using gasoline or magic that I can tell, but it runs, and it flies." His grin got wider.

"It was waiting for me at the house." He waved a hand away, meaning somewhich way his house was.

"It's coming in very useful in a nexus made up of islands."

1. New Arrival

[The boat was new. Not that boats in general were new, but he for sure hadn't been in one before. And the city? Definitely not even close to where he'd been. He didn't even have his staff with him and that's something he wouldn't have let go of easily.

But he just...woke up without it? That's...odd. And more odd than anything he's used to. And it only gets weirder when they hand him the phone. He tries not to take it, but they insist, apparently. He can't hear what they're saying, and there are too many of them to read lips. Also he can't sign with his hands full of phone and map. But that could also be because he's confused, lost, and upset.

Almost nothing is any different once they scatter and leave him on his own. He shoves the device in his pocket without looking at it and takes a look around, frowning.

What has he gotten himself into? And how can he get out of this without his friends to help? Wouldn't anyone even understand him?

All great questions to be asking, but really, he only wants to go home.]

3. Event

[A faire? It looks relatively normal, if a bit out of place. The whole city looked out of place, though, so maybe it was normal for here? But it isn't trying to kill him (at least not directly), but he's still cautious as he wanders around, not really sure what he's supposed to do. He's too shy for most of the activity, and he can't exactly talk to anyone, but it's...almost nice to just be there, around other people, enjoying themselves.

He finds himself an out of the way corner, trying not to interrupt anyone. The sunshine felt nice, too, and he can almost relax--if this were home he might have done a better job at it. But anything is better than being underground. Or freezing to death in Jotunheim.

All things considered, this is actually a peaceful place. At least compared to the things he's used to.]
angelic_archer: (Everything is weird)

[personal profile] angelic_archer 2016-07-08 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Demon energy?" It probably isn't an answer the Mundane expected but it was the only thing Alec could think of as a potential energy source. "That's what the ones back home run on."

Blinking at the motorcycle, he couldn't help thinking of all the times he'd wanted to ride one of the vampire bikes. "Does everyone here get one?" Maybe here wasn't as bad as he thought. "I always wanted to try one of the flying bikes, but I didn't want to anger a vampire."
dresdensluck: (Y - surprised)

[personal profile] dresdensluck 2016-07-08 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"No. I know how that feels, and this is not that. Not any demon energy I've ever felt, any way. Something else, almost something living, I think." He rubbed his face, then sighed.

"Magic. of some kind. But not my kind, or any kind I have ever felt."

Then he nodded to the other. "Maybe. I just found this at my house. Why would a vampire have one?"
angelic_archer: (My parabatai is insane)

[personal profile] angelic_archer 2016-07-08 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, the guy wasn't a Mundane if he was so accepting of demons. Not a Shadowhunter. He knew too much about magic to be someone with just the Sight. Downworlder? Warlock without an obvious mark? "I don't know if demon energy feels different when it's used to power a vehicle. I never tinkered with them except when we spiked the gas tanks."

"Different realities, different magic." Giving the bike another wistful look, Alec focused on the owner instead. "Are you a warlock?" It wasn't a tactful question but better to ask than to screw up and say something stupid. "Vampires back home have bikes that run on demon energy. My parabatai stole one but he never let me ride it. I wasn't going to risk starting a war over a motorcycle."
dresdensluck: (Y - stalwart)

[personal profile] dresdensluck 2016-07-08 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Harry laughed. "Demon energy in anything usually leaves a taint I can sense." It felt like oily smoke. Not a fun thing to have around.

Harry grinned. "No. I'm a wizard. Why? What are you?" Fair was fair.

He screwed up his face and shuddered. "Most vampires are dead in my world."
angelic_archer: (Um... no)

[personal profile] angelic_archer 2016-07-08 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"What if someone was half demon? Would you sense it?" The question was blurted out before he could really think about anything except Magnus. Mentally he winced but better to know if someone would notice Magnus' heritage, just in case his boyfriend showed up.

"I'm Nephilim. A Shadowhunter. Usually only a few types of beings can sense magic or demon energy in my world."

A few months ago, Alec would have reacted the same way about vampires but Simon had changed that. "They're not common in my world, but we have treaties with them. If we all play nice... stealing one of their bikes wouldn't count as 'playing nice'."
dresdensluck: (Y - sigh)

[personal profile] dresdensluck 2016-07-08 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not unless I used my Sight. Or a detector. Half-demons end up with human blood clouding the air and magic."

harry nodded, and took out a notebook, taking notes. Then he slipped it away.

"I'm kind of an odd duck, even for wizards. Ever since I fell through time, my magical senses are enhanced." He nodded again.

"In my world, vampires don't play nice, most of the time. One group decided to play very not nice and declared war on the wizards, and on me in particular. They tried to annihilate my bloodline and I turned the spell back on them."
angelic_archer: (Focused)

[personal profile] angelic_archer 2016-07-08 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Usually they're more human than demon." At least the ones that Alec met had been. They might have blue skin or horns but they weren't evil simply because of their connection to demons. "I didn't want someone freaking out if a warlock showed up."

Arching an eyebrow, he gestured at the notebook. "You aren't going to ask what Shadowhunter means?

"With vampires, it depends on what they want. If they want to keep enjoying eternity, they don't snack on the Mundanes. If they decide they don't want to follow the rules, they're dealt with." As he spoke, Alec tried to piece together what the wizard had said about vampires. Something serious had happened because of that spell. "What happened when you turned it back?"
dresdensluck: (Y - eyebrow 3)

[personal profile] dresdensluck 2016-07-08 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Some are, some aren't. Depends on their parents and level of dumb." Some people just didn't know when to quit.

Harry nodded, rubbing his face. "Most probably can't see it, but it might be good to have them either announce what they are, or invest in a cloaking charm."

"I figure it means you hunt things in the shadows, or, even scarier, the Shadows themselves. In which case, you're even more bad ass than you look." He nodded again. "Also, I figured you'd tell me if you wanted to."

"Your world is a lot different than my world, for sure." harry paused at the last question and closed his eyes, then opened them again sadness and confidence sitting side by side in his mind. "There are no more vampires of that kind in existence, anywhere."
angelic_archer: (Distancing Myself)

[personal profile] angelic_archer 2016-07-08 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"With Warlocks, they usually take after their human side even if they don't always look like it." Considering Magnus or Catarina's reaction to a comment like that, he smiled wryly. "Be careful of who you say that to. You might end up turned into a rat.

"Most Warlocks can glamour their marks." Just like Alec had hidden his runes. He figured if the wizard probably could see the dark swirling symbols that covered most of Alec's body. "Part angel, part human. We hunt demons and police the things mundanes think only live in horror movies."

The question had probably been out of line but tact wasn't something Alec excelled at. "I would do the same thing." He would do almost anything for his family, for Magnus, so he can't condemn that kind of spell work. The answer also suggested an impressive amount of power. "And I'll be careful not to get you angry."

dresdensluck: (Y - thinky)

[personal profile] dresdensluck 2016-07-08 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Harry smirked. "They could try to turn me into a rat." Harry shook his wrist, where the familiar feeling of his shield bracelet hung and made tinking sounds.

"It's not the mark. It's the demon magic. It... is hard to explain. For me, there is a power below the normal level of perception. It I use the sight, no Glamour holds." He nodded listening.

"Sounds like an interesting group. I pretty much did that myself, back home in Chicago."

Harry didn't mind answering, really. Despite his normal arrogance, the Red End reminded him every time that he had to be wary of actions that seemed good. For even they had consequences.

Harry chuckled. "I'm generally quiet and calm, but they had my daughter, and turned my girlfriend. It was personal."
angelic_archer: (Focused)

[personal profile] angelic_archer 2016-07-08 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just be careful. They get a little touchy if people imply they're like their parents." More than touchy with some of them. Not that Alec blamed them. It wasn't their fault that they were part demon and after centuries of abuse, he could understand why they might want to turn someone into a rat for making assumptions.

"Their magic is just magic in my world. It's not demonic except it comes from a parent. The marks show that they're not completely human." Maybe those who were part demon didn't have marks in other realities. "Wings. Different color skin. Cat eyes." The last was said with a hint of wistfulness.

"Be careful of the quiet ones." It was something Izzy always teased him about... until she'd seen what happened when he had almost lost everything. "Normal restraint disappears when they take the ones you love."
dresdensluck: (Y - excited)

[personal profile] dresdensluck 2016-07-09 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Like I said, I tend to be quiet, most of the time."

Harry shrugged, and nodded, then smiled.

"This world is different, and there are new interactions of magic. If any of them come here, you should probably warn them. There are a lot of suspicious people here, as well as welcoming people here. But if they are no threat, if they truly want just to be left alone, have them find me."

He snapped his fingers and his card appeared.
angelic_archer: (Downcast)

[personal profile] angelic_archer 2016-07-09 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm one of the quiet ones too." Maybe that was why Alec was more talkative than normal even if he was trying to break out of his broodiness.

"Not so different then. There's always someone who will want to do harm to those who don't fit in and those who will welcome them. I'll keep an eye out for them and try to warn them." Most of the warlocks wouldn't really need the warning. They'd been persecuted for generations.

His lips quirked in a wry smile as the card appeared. It was a spell he'd seen dozens of times and made his chest ache momentarily. It should be someone with catlike eyes wearing some blinding outfit that was making things appear out of thin air.

"No burnt sugar." Alec knew it was a weird thing to say but it was the first thing that came to mind that wouldn't sound completely pathetic.
dresdensluck: (Y - converse)

[personal profile] dresdensluck 2016-07-09 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Harry grinned at the other. "Nice to meet you."

Harry blinked. "Burnt sugar?" He canted his head to the side.

"What's that about?"

Sebastian Carter Hokori Anderson | OC | Mix of 1 & 3

[personal profile] dulcet_cellist 2016-07-09 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Sebastian was not an idiot. He had above average grades, third best on the swim team, and he was a talented cellist. He could also identify most birds using both scientific and common name. Birds had an innate sense of direction based on several factors, including genetics. Sebastian was wishing he were a bird at this point. He'd received a short speech, a map, and a type of cell phone or something similar, and was considering using it to call for help. Not that he knew anyone he could call for help. Not here.

He was still in a bit of shock and had simply been going along with everything because what else was he suppose to do. Looking down at the communications device-which made it sound like something out of science fiction book--he wondered what would happen if he could call his father.

I'm lost on Fantasy Island. Could you send the car to pick me up?

Jack would find this entire situation fascinating. An adventure to be experienced and explored. But Jack wasn't here. Jack wasn't anywhere.

Worrying his bottom lip, Sebastian attempted to make sense of the map again. Reading a sheet of music was easy. Reading a map was not. Maybe if he'd been a Boy Scout instead of building blanket forts to hide away with his books. Looking around again he decided being surrounded by so much noise and so many strangers was making it difficult to focus so he started moving away from the crowds and music to find a quiet place. If there was such a place.

He'd never been to an actual outdoor faire before. Not like this. It was distracting to be surrounded by so much energy. Overwhelmingly so when he was already feeling anxious.

Belatedly, he realized that he hadn't told Harry his name. "Alec Lightwood.

The faire was a good place to find people. At least that had been Alec's hope. If someone from home was here they'd be drawn to the noise and festivities. He preferred quieter pursuits but if it meant he might see his siblings or Magnus...

Scanning the crowd, he tried to find a certain flash of blond or maybe the shimmer of glitter. Something that would be a link to home but so far he hadn't seen anyone that looked familiar.

A few people eyed him strangely, either intimidated by his height or the way he held himself. His marks were glamoured so he looked like a Mundane but Alec couldn't really hide that he had spent most of his life training as a soldier. When he realized that he wasn't going to find Jace or Magnus, he started moving toward the edge of the crowd, pausing when he noticed someone who looked obviously lost.

He didn't really know his way around but he seemed more confident about his surroundings than the Mundane with a map. Making his way to the being's side, he tried to look as non threatening as possible. "Need some help?"

"Nice to meet you, Alec."

Harry blinked. "Hmm, mine has never tasted or smelled like anything, but i like that." He wiggled his fingers, thought, then nodded and hummed softly, speaking low and in old greek. And then the scent of chocolate chip cookies wafted from him.

"How's that?"

"No." It was out of habit and years of not trusting anyone that made Sebastian respond without thinking about what he was being asked. He should be better about this now, but losing Jack had made him far less trusting of the world, even the Universe, than he had been before. If even the Universe was against him having anything good then why bother?

It was an argument he'd had with himself over and over again. Jack would want him to be happy. But how could he be happy without Jack?

He needed help.

"No, wait! I meant yes. I do." He looked up quickly, almost desperate to retract his previous answer and finally figure out the mess he'd found himself in. And then looked up a little higher because while he wasn't short, he was 5'9", the person he was speaking to was taller. And then he just stared for a moment. "I'm lost."
