Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon!

3. Event: The Faire's in town! Feast, socialize, dance, play games! There's plenty to do and the grounds on Mundus are packed with festivities for all to enjoy.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

Option 1:

"Abba, Abba" was the only sound that kept former Very Special agent Anthony DiNozzo from completely losing it and ending up in the fetal position. He took a calming breath, trying to settle is rapidly beating heart. He glanced down at the little girl in his arms, and felt the knife twist in his gut once more when he thought about the fact Tali would grow up without her mother.

He was never more grateful that he learned some Arabic than he was now. He brought Tali with him to the rail, careful not to get to close. He was thinking Paris, because of the fond memories there. This would work too, he supposed. When in Rome.... He stepped off the boat, grabbed a map, and was completely lost.

"Excuse me?"

Option 2:

[The device clicks on and Tony's smiling, although not quite reaching his eyes, face hits the screen. Tali, dressed in a cute denim short jumper, is sitting on his lap, playfully wacking at his face ]

If you would have told me two weeks ago that I would have a kid, and end up on some island, I would have bet my entire Bond collection you were wrong.

I really like Bond, but definitely Connary..... Bronson was okay, and Dalton? Yeah lets not even go there....

Anyway, I'm Tony DiNozzo, and this lovely lady is my daughter Tali. [ His face gets pained for a moment, but leaves as quickly as it came ]

This is new to me, and I have to do right by here, so any kind of advice, or maybe the 411 on baby-sitters?

[Arrival]

It had been a long journey, from the Wall to Oldtown, but when wakes up on this boat, he knows it's almost over. There's something strange about it, though. The boat looks different, for one thing, and he can't hear the water anymore. He stumbles his way through the dark to the deck above, and the first thing he determines while blinking away the sudden sunshine is that he is dressed too warmly in his Night's Watch furs. There's no constant cold here. He should have taken that into consideration when he set off in this direction.

He still doesn't think this is right though. Nothing he has heard about Oldtown indicates that it is surrounded by clouds like this, and he doesn't recognize any of his fellow passengers. There even seems to be one missing. "Gilly? Gilly? Where are you?" This is terrible. He's supposed to be taking care of her and baby Sam, making sure nothing happens to them, and now he's lost them.

He follows the crowd off the boat onto the docks, still hoping to find her. "Gilly?"

[Library]

He has waited as long as he can. He has gotten settled in, and met a whole mess of Starks, and switched out his too-warm clothes for something more appropriate. Today he is going to visit the library he's heard about. Maester Aemon had relied on Sam to be his eyes for more than just reading and writing letters, and while that library had contained more than his father's library had, it doesn't compare to what he's heard about the library at the Citadel. He wants to see this one for himself.

Following the map and the directions the others gave him, he finds the library easily. When he steps inside, he knows that this will not be a waste of a visit. There are more books here than he has seen in his life. He may be gawking just a little with an awed look on his face. Sorry.

1 - Stab Boat Harry stared at the oncoming islands with a sigh, a resigned sigh. "Really? Here and now? I gotta do this thing again?"

Floating islands were new, but appearing somewhere new he had not planned to be was growing all too familiar. He stared around him, then back at the islands, and wondered what the spiel would be this time.

He had been trapped on an island before, and that was no fun at all, but he was hoping this was no Neverland.

Besides which, he thought, as he sank down again against the side of the boat, he was in no condition to save the day, this time. He groaned as he kept one hand on his side and closed his eyes. He really wished he had brought his field kit this time. All he had were his battle items, and those helped not a whit when he was bleeding all over the deck like a stuck pig.

Hellfire.

He had managed to evade most of the problems of his older self, and change the timelines, both for himself and for a few of his alternate selves, but apparently, he was supposed to get attacked or hurt after the Red Court war in most timelines. Only this time, instead of ordering a hit on himself, a former employee of Gentleman Johnny Marcone had attacked him with a Feyknife. He didn't even dare remove the damn thing, because it was in too deep.

He had fought the man off, but that didn't keep Harry from being in bad shape when he vanished from the ambulance and appeared here.

This was so how his life went, though, really...

2

A week later, Harry was feeling much better, and he had found his skybike, powered by something that he couldn't really figure out, working at his place, after he was released from the clinic. Thank the powers for small favors.

He was putting around the island looking at shops, and trying to decide what the heck he was going to do next. His staff was secured in a holster on the side of the bike, which resembled an old World War 1 motorcycle, which was what it was made from. His helmet was all white, was was the duster coat he wore.

He was definitely open to being bothered.

1. New Arrival

[The boat was new. Not that boats in general were new, but he for sure hadn't been in one before. And the city? Definitely not even close to where he'd been. He didn't even have his staff with him and that's something he wouldn't have let go of easily.

But he just...woke up without it? That's...odd. And more odd than anything he's used to. And it only gets weirder when they hand him the phone. He tries not to take it, but they insist, apparently. He can't hear what they're saying, and there are too many of them to read lips. Also he can't sign with his hands full of phone and map. But that could also be because he's confused, lost, and upset.

Almost nothing is any different once they scatter and leave him on his own. He shoves the device in his pocket without looking at it and takes a look around, frowning.

What has he gotten himself into? And how can he get out of this without his friends to help? Wouldn't anyone even understand him?

All great questions to be asking, but really, he only wants to go home.]

3. Event

[A faire? It looks relatively normal, if a bit out of place. The whole city looked out of place, though, so maybe it was normal for here? But it isn't trying to kill him (at least not directly), but he's still cautious as he wanders around, not really sure what he's supposed to do. He's too shy for most of the activity, and he can't exactly talk to anyone, but it's...almost nice to just be there, around other people, enjoying themselves.

He finds himself an out of the way corner, trying not to interrupt anyone. The sunshine felt nice, too, and he can almost relax--if this were home he might have done a better job at it. But anything is better than being underground. Or freezing to death in Jotunheim.

All things considered, this is actually a peaceful place. At least compared to the things he's used to.]

[personal profile] dulcet_cellist 2016-07-09 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Sebastian was not an idiot. He had above average grades, third best on the swim team, and he was a talented cellist. He could also identify most birds using both scientific and common name. Birds had an innate sense of direction based on several factors, including genetics. Sebastian was wishing he were a bird at this point. He'd received a short speech, a map, and a type of cell phone or something similar, and was considering using it to call for help. Not that he knew anyone he could call for help. Not here.

He was still in a bit of shock and had simply been going along with everything because what else was he suppose to do. Looking down at the communications device-which made it sound like something out of science fiction book--he wondered what would happen if he could call his father.

I'm lost on Fantasy Island. Could you send the car to pick me up?

Jack would find this entire situation fascinating. An adventure to be experienced and explored. But Jack wasn't here. Jack wasn't anywhere.

Worrying his bottom lip, Sebastian attempted to make sense of the map again. Reading a sheet of music was easy. Reading a map was not. Maybe if he'd been a Boy Scout instead of building blanket forts to hide away with his books. Looking around again he decided being surrounded by so much noise and so many strangers was making it difficult to focus so he started moving away from the crowds and music to find a quiet place. If there was such a place.

He'd never been to an actual outdoor faire before. Not like this. It was distracting to be surrounded by so much energy. Overwhelmingly so when he was already feeling anxious.

This day could be going a lot better. Paige was in some unfamiliar place without her sisters and without any noise in her head from her charges. She complained about it but the fact that it was gone made her very uneasy. Once she got the map she went off to find a quiet place to try sensing anyone.

And that's when it got really worrying: she couldn't even do that much. She was completely cut off from them.

"This is bad," she muttered out loud. "This is very, very bad." She didn't even care if people who passed by thought her weird for talking to herself.

It had been a lovely wedding, and to see, near the end, Theran and Grey.... She smiled warmly to herself at the memory. And Lady Rhann was downright charming. She had no need to worry about her neighbors from that territory, not any more. For once everything was looking up.

Today had been her first morning back of Queens' duties after a brief two days with Grey, touring Shalador Nehele. Which, in its own way, was also Queen's duties. Enough to have Grey fussing at her anyway. Not that she minded so much when he fussed most of the time.

She felt the motion under her and forgot for a moment that they were done traveling. She opened her eyes, and frowned in confusion. This wasn't the coach. And... where was Grey? Who were these people? Frowning some more, she got off the boat when everyone else did, wrapping a rose shield around herself. When the stuff was offered, she vanished it without touching it, to have Shira inspect it later.

She had to figure out where she was, how she got here, and how to get back. "Grey?" she called. Then rhyming unintentionally, "Vae? Ranon? Shira?" Mother Night, where was everyone?

She couldn't recall the last time she stood out in the sun this long without someone barking at her to put on a hat... it was kind of disturbing....

Durotan knew nothing about technology. The most advanced his clan had ever gotten was engineering to mount ever larger and more impressive beastly tusks to their huts. Orcs loved their bones and fangs. What they didn't love was trying to use devices obviously meant for tiny hands, which they didn't have. Durotan's hands were average for an orc, but massive compared to this tiny thing in his palm. All he could do was glower down upon it with a bewildered frustration.

The people here, they had told him it was to communicate with. Who was he supposed to communicate with, exactly? Durotan had no idea how to use it, let alone what to do with it assuming he ever did figure it out.

As frustrated as he was, Durotan had no plans of moving from his spot for some time. He was sitting on a low, stone wall that lined a decorative planter. Sprawling above him blotting out the sun was a large tree, and a cool breeze was helping ease his anxious mind. Nothing here was familiar to him, nothing here was supposed to be. He wasn't supposed to be here, and that's the true thing which he was struggling with and not the scapegoat device in his hand.

So wandering around the islands takes some time. And for a small child, doubly so: Kida is mostly concerned with making sure her pet-turned-guardian-turned-shepherd is following her properly and not running off after anything else. She can be found in the stables most particularly, because while Soja (that'd be the yellow-striped purple animal with a thick tail and reptilian hide and horns protruding from the face) is totally unusual to her, horses are weird-looking. And tall.

What do.

Much, much later on, as children are wont to do, Kida has fallen asleep. And as properly loyally protective cat-lizard-crab thing, Soja has been carrying her dead weight self on his back. He may be looking for a place to shrug her off and let her sleep, though.

New Arrival

Devi stood at the docks, map and communicator in hand and stared dumbly at the sprawling city in front of her. There was no way she was here. This was a dream, right? A nightmare? A coma? Maybe she'd hit up that crackhead a few apartment doors down and OD'd. Maybe Sickness had driven her insane in retaliation. That was possible.

Dropping down to one knee, the young, purple haired girl pulled off her backpack and started hastily going through it.

"No, no no no.. FUCK." Sitting back on her heel, Devi sighed behind a blank expression. "Points for creativity. At least it's fuckin' new."

Event

Fairs were alright, generally speaking, so long as they were lit and happy though Devi was glad to not see any clowns and she'd already found the funnel cake stand. Sated by sugary goodness, the artist wandered around until she found herself in front of a dance floor. Well, she did like clubs and this wasn't exactly the same thing.

Still, it was music, so she found a tree to sit underneath and watch while she destroyed the deep-fried sacrifice. Insanity made for a great snacking experience. She was almost impressed at how well her mind was generating the sensations and since she hadn't found a way out or a way to convince her stomach it wasn't empty, she'd have to go with it.

It was pretty, for now, but Devi was waiting for the boot of Doom and Horror to drop. It always did.

Where there is festivities with free food and booze, there can be found Isabela. She's been adapting rather well to this new world, albeit missing the feel of the sea rocking her boat. She hates being unable to leave this place, just like she couldn't leave Kirkwall, but this place is both strange and curious. The sea captain doesn't want to admit that she misses her companions (even the mage), but part of her does, and being at the Faire does remind her of some nights they all spent at the Hanged Man.

During the day, Isabela can be found winning at cards games. She's sometime cheating, being an expert at slight-of-hand, but sometimes she's just that good at bluffing, or reading people. She's made a trade of it in her life, after all, and this place makes the game no different than in Thedas. There's a bottle of wine that never leaves her side, one that she shares if the person next to her is interesting enough for it, but mostly, it's one that she keeps filled for her own enjoyment.

At night, she's enough in her cups that she can be found dancing by the bondfire, her wine bottle in hand. If pleasant enough to her eyes, people might be pulled into the dancing circle by her hand, her smile warm and welcoming. She flirts as easily as she breathes and maybe, someone might get kissed (or more) by dawn.

Remy LeBeau | Marvel Comics

[personal profile] atiefwhenallelsehasfailed 2016-07-19 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Arrival

Remy was sure that life was playing a cosmic joke on him. Somehow, he had gotten on the bad side of mama fate, and he couldn't think of how, but here he was, as proof. He sighed as he looked around the alien world, and ran a thumb over his jaw. Well, then. He would need to test a few things. But first, he needed information.

He grinned, and his duster billowing wide, walked forward into the crowds, a playing card glimmering as he flipped it between fingers as he walked. His eyes, red glowing against a black background, got a little notice now and then, but not as much as he had thought they might.

He raised a hand to the next person he saw who wasn't in a hurry and smiled. "Pardon me, but got a moment to help a poor Cajun out?"

Getting Settled

Remy was grinning. He was jogging along as he looked around the area, and found himself just grinning. It was a grin that was half-happiness and half-sheer irritation, but still. it was there. He had pushed his environment, he had shoved it, and he had learned a lot. And earned a lot, while he was at it.

He'd even done a little bit of work, even if that work had been a little bit play, too.

Since he had arrived, he had tested this place fairly well. He'd snuck into the palace, vaulting, digging under, and slipping past, the walls, and every time, he had woken up instantly upon getting in, back in his bed in his 'starter home'. He had been surprised, and wondered how, exactly, they had done that, but it seemed the powers that be had it under control.

He had hijacked a boat and ran it as fast as he could toward the wall, pushing it even after he had started feeling bad, and worse, and woken up, again, in his bed. This time, he had felt so bad, he hadn't bee able to get up for a few days. Following that, he had rigged a way to examine the underside of the bridges, even climbed down a little to look at the bottom of one of the islands, and had learned nothing. His attempt to stow away on one of the boats had resulted in him blacking out and... yes, you guessed it, waking up once more in his starter home.

He had questioned a few people, under private lock, and had realized nobody had any answers, yet. And while some were still looking, others were settling in, and some who were here were dead back home, making that make some sort of sense.

All in all, it had felt like a prison, and it still did, but it also felt like the best damn prison he had ever been in, including the Earth, and New Orleans, both.

So it was, today, a little over a few weeks into his life here, that Remy was seeing this place as just another opportunity. One that might last long, or might last short, depending on how Mama Fate decided to act, but either way, one he could exploit. Which he had been doing, some. He had gone and found games to play and join, some odd, some familiar, Apparently poker had found its way into the back halls of this place, and even into some wealthy men's hearts. And some wealthy men had secrets. Remy had exploited that and now had a small pretty penny or two hidden about the island. Just in case.

And as he jogged, he was grinning. His shirt was tucked into his belt as he trotted along, since Remy never did mind giving a show, along with his collapsible staff and a few other things.

The light hurt his eyes still and some days it was just better to sleep through the day and go work at an er at night and pretend to be someone worth living. Which is what he had been doing, sleeping off a third shift. His plan had been to wake up and skip town...

....this was going a little to far. Standing on the dock pulling his hood up and putting on the shades in his pockets. It was too damn bright here. "Excuse me." he called out in a heavy accented voice, clearly someone of eastern European decent. Though he did sound a bit like a cliche Dracula.

Cinna didn't understand much about the way this place worked. He may have hated it, may have been ready to die for something different, but he always knew he'd have a place in shaping that bright new day, that promising new future for everyone, free of the Capitol's tyranny.

Still, he knew the old order. This...this he did not know.

He was nothing if not adaptable, however, so he went through his closet of provided clothing...clearly some kind of mass produced stuff, but as ever he reminded himself that most of the other Districts had to endure far worse. He put together an outfit that was suitably stylish, but blended in well: boots, black jeans, and a burnt orange top that fit well with the row of tasteful gold hoops that lined each ear, and the necklace he'd saved from his arrival outfit...and a slash of gold eyeliner to finish the look.

Emerging from his home, Cinna quietly spent the rest of the day traversing the five islands, getting to know the lay of the land. He was perfectly dressed to mask his analysis of the landscape in polite conversation and general inquiries at the marketplace, engaged a few locals over lunch who openly admired his outfit, and started talking to the residents of the housing areas who were transplants, just like him.

He wasn't looking for an escape, not when he was fairly certain he was going to die back home. He just wanted to make sure that this new place, whatever it might really be, wasn't simply trading one evil for something worse.

Option 1:

Lilly had been bothering one of her pack mates. She was bored and their Alpha had been busy trying to do some sort of thing called a term paper. Lilly had been told she could not eat the books and that was so boring. If the Ahroun hates anything besides the foes of Gaia? Being bored would be right on the top of the list.

The mail man comes second of course.

Waking up with a start on the boat Lilly blinks. Then lets out a scream that turns to a howl of both fear and rage.

"WHAT DID YOU DO TO THEM!" She is barely keeping herself from a frenzy. The first person she sees is about to get tossed into a wall by a tiny looking teenager who is moments away from actually losing her mind for the moment. She can't feel her pack. It is like they all died and all Lilly can think is about turning something into a bloody paste.

Option 2:

She has learned the truth. It hurts and she is just in pain. Not to the point of falling to one of the nastier things she has heard about but there is a wound she can't name. Like grief. Her alpha had promised her she wouldn't have to be alone when he saw how much the idea wounded her.

She was always supposed to have friends.

"Stupid. Stupid." Lilly is an angry Bone Gnawer. She is tempted to go steal ice cream but given she had nearly killed people the day before?

Probably not a good idea. So she is trying to find the place of the cream of ice.

Or boozeohol. She has a fake ID that Kye had made for her. She could in theory go right into a bar and buy herself a beer.

But guess what the young werewolf just found? Lilly had just stopped right outside of the vampire bar.

Her jaw drops and she points. "Who the fuck thought this was a good idea? Are you people HIGH!?"

Even trapped here, with the limitations put on her abilities, with the knowledge of what was happening and what could happen, sometimes life just needed to be free. To let things thrive, out in the open. Without controls, or limitations or agendas. Just being. No Perfect Possible Future. For the next 5 minutes at least, she was just going to enjoy herself.

Trance enjoyed feeling the sun, even if she didn't know it personally. And while she did miss her friends, her crew mates on Andromeda, she had forgotten the feeling of just living. Surrounded by soil and sunlight. She closed her eyes, willing herself to feel her connection to her sun, so light, so tenuous. She spun around, a brief moment of pure joy, her purple skin glittering off the unknown sunlight, tail flickering.

Getting into the spirit of things, and she loved those drinks with the tiny umbrellas, Trance ordered one from a nearby vendor and skipped away.

Ragnar Lothbrok | Vikings | 1ish and 2ish

[Canon is post 2x01 after 'talking' with his deceased daughter, Gyda.]

Ragnar was only just on the side of not panicking to the point of attacking in pure instinct. Where he was from, things like this didn't happen. Traveling was by foot, or boat, though not these types. They floated in water, yes, but not air. That abrupt realisation caused a.. less than pleasant reaction which did, in fact, consist of threatening the lives of all travelers on the boat with him and shouting the names of his wife, son and Athelstan before making his way to the hills of Eurus.

He didn't understand it, nor did he believe that he could be dead and this was Valhalla. So after a day of staring out across the island, speaking to his god. Or, more accurately Ragnar questioned.

Eventually he made his way back down and started to find out more about the place he'd been brought to. For whatever purpose that had yet to be revealed.

Domino | Marvel Comics | option 3

It wasn't long after Domino arrived that a fair popped up and she was voluntold to work the beer garden. Not that she minded getting some fresh air. The bar was nice, but sometimes you had to get out into the sunshine.

She was pretty busy, but that didn't stop her from drinking a good quantity of beer herself. It helped with her people skills, and soon she had a smallish group of people she was telling stories to. Nothing personal, just retelling a few of her more hilarious jobs while getting them to buy more and more beer.

She was good at what she did, if you could get her talking.

Beatrix Kiddo/Black Mamba, Kill Bill 1&2

[personal profile] deadliestviper 2016-08-01 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Option 1

Beatrix Kiddo was not a forgiving woman. She was not one who would lightly be shanghaied, especially not with her young daughter in tow. Flying ships, spectacular as they were, didn't make it any easier to digest.

Bea twisted the greeter's arm more stiffly, threatening to break his hand. "I don't want to do this in front of my little girl," she intoned sweetly, making him cry out as she tweaked his fingers, "but if you don't explain things to me I will. How did I get on that boat, and why was I taken here? Tell me, or I guarantee you won't like what I have to do."
