How To Play:

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon!

3. Event: The Faire's in town! Feast, socialize, dance, play games! There's plenty to do and the grounds on Mundus are packed with festivities for all to enjoy.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

Oh, aye. 'Twas as if no time had passed.

[ Which, he suspects, is different from Claire's version of traveling through time. But he's trying not to think about that. ]

When I returned here, some time had passed, as well, but not as much as back home. For what it's worth.

[It was a little comforting, if only because she wouldn't want her mother to worry. Claire Randall had done enough worrying over her life to have to worry about where she'd gotten off to. Bree didn't want to do that to her even if her mother would prefer to be in the past instead of the present.]

It's worth a lot. I wouldn't want my mother to worry about me. They tend to do that even when you're an adult, you know.

Aye, I ken. Ye never want to be the cause of grief for your parents.

[ He feels responsible for his father's death to this day - wishes he could've done something different, if only to spare Brian. But, he can't change that, either. Best not to dwell on it. ]

Oh, my name's Jamie, by the by. Jamie Fraser. Pleasure to meet ye.

[Bree startled for a moment and tried to recover. Jamie Fraser. Was it her Jamie Fraser? Was it the man that her mother claimed was her father, someone who came from the 1700s because she somehow magically went back in time through a set of standing stones? Bree gave him a careful look, trying to decide if there was some resemblance between her face and his and, if so, if he'd notice it.]

And you're Scottish, right, Mr. Fraser?

[ A strange sort of reaction to his name, and he doesn't miss it, but it doesn't really mean anything to him, either.

The name "Randall" might've given him a bit of a start, but it's a common enough English name, and there's really nothing else familiar about this young woman. Nothing that he can put a finger on, anyway. ]

Aye, that I am. Are ye surprised? There's at least one other Scotsman here.

[Bree decided, quite quickly, that she was not going to reveal what she knew about Jamie Fraser just yet. She thought being bombarded with that kind of information right at the start might be a little too much to handle. It had been when her mother had told her about Jamie to begin with, after all.]

I just recently spent some time in Scotland, that's all. I was studying family history.

Oh, aye? I canna say ye sound Scottish. [ Nor is her surname. But if she grew up elsewhere... ]

My parents are English, actually, but I guess there's some ties to Scotland way back. When did you get here from?

[When, apparently, was a very important question in her life these days. If it was Jamie Fraser, his answer would be pretty telling.]

[ Her question elicits a short, humorless sort of chuckle from Jamie. ]

I dunna ken what it says about me that your question doesn't seem strange at all. But it was 1746, when I last left.

[1746. So it could be her Jamie, for all intents and purposes. Bree sat with that knowledge heavy in her heart and decided, for now, she would keep it to herself.]

I'm from 1968. From Boston, actually, but I was visiting in Scotland.

[ 1968. That's even further in time than Claire. It's difficult to imagine such things, even now. ]

The colonies. I've never been, myself. [ Her time is a safer topic of conversation than his, he thinks. ]

We're not colonies anymore, you know.

[Bree knew. Her father, her actual father, had taken her all over to every Revolutionary War site and told her about every battle from start to finish. It was practically a religion in Boston, to talk about the war.]

We fought for independence and won.

Aye, I - I've heard something of the like. [ Claire mentioned such things, in passing, a brief, shocking glimpse into a future he'll never see himself, and a world very different from what he knows. He's not all that interested in bringing her into the conversation, though. Her absence is a hole in his heart he still has to learn to live with. ]

Sounds as if ye put the Redcoats in their place.

[Bree couldn't help but laugh at that and she nodded, her smile bright.]

Yeah, we sure did. Even though my parents are English, I feel American. I've always lived in Boston, always grown up reading about the Revolution from the side of the winners. History is a weird thing, isn't it?

[ Weird. Strange, she means, he thinks. That's one way of putting it. ]

No doubt ye hear of Scotland from the English perspective, as well, then.

History usually gets written by the winners, unfortunately, and the English came out better on that one.

[She tips her head a bit, curious. This is one way to get to know him.]

Do you think you might be interested in telling me the Scottish half?

[ A simple question - one he'd be fine answering, if the wounds weren't so recent. If the loss wasn't so acute. The hole in his chest where his heart used to be aches rather sharply whenever he has to think about the last months in Scotland before returning here. ]

I - I'm not sure I'd be the right person for the job. I was never much of a Jacobite. If anything, I... tried to stop it.

It could be interesting to learn, though, just to hear another perspective. I'd be happy to listen at any pace you wanted to tell. There's no rush.

[ And what harm could it do, to tell someone his side of the tale? The worst that could happen is that she chooses not to believe him. ]

Perhaps. But I'll warn ye now, ye may not believe the whole of it.

[ The only other person who did, or does, know it besides himself and Claire is Murtagh. No one else back home would believe it if he told them. ]
