Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!
You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!
How To Play:
→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!
Possible Scenarios:
1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!
2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon!
3. Event: The Faire's in town! Feast, socialize, dance, play games! There's plenty to do and the grounds on Mundus are packed with festivities for all to enjoy.
4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!
Professor Alice Marie Colwin || Original Character
In the realm of the unexpected this neared the top. Alice remembered accepting a new position at a prestigious college and the next thing she knew she was on a boat floating in the sky. Panic settled in her stomach but she quieted the small voice with a firm hand.
"Curiouser and curiouser..." The words slipped from her lips, her smooth voice only a whisper as the boat pulled against the dock. This was real, it had to be, but she didn't know what it meant.
"It looks as if I've fallen down the rabbit hole."
Alice hoped that this was simply a detour in her life and not a permanent change. Her sister would grow worried if she didn't check in, worried and angry. Alice never looked forward to seeing Emily angry.

I've found the library however I don't know where to start. There are so many books and so much information that I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I would be very thankful if anyone would be kind enough to give me suggestions.
Wild Card/Exploration (Feel free to run into her where ever.)
[Alice is a field researcher by nature and her heart is in her work. She can be found anywhere with a journal in her lap and a pen pinched between her fingers. She draws what's in her sight first and then lists a brief description as well as her thoughts.
A small smile tugs at her lips as she works. This is something that she loves. It isn't the same as finding a way home but it's something she's used too.
To those walking by she can even be heard talking to a plant, rock or animal that she might be watching. Her voice is soft and sweet and her comments range from, 'aren't you a beautiful sight' to 'it would be wonderful to fly']
exploration
[She pauses when she hears Alice talking. A warm smile crosses her face and she tromps her way over, hands protecting her pregnant belly.]
Hello! Are you exploring?
exploration
Yes, there is a lot I'd like to see. [Her accent is thick but she speaks with the clarity of someone who's used to speaking to others.
She tucks a strand of dark hair behind her ear as she moves to stand. Her pen is placed in the binding of her journal and she closes the thick pages before placing the book beneath her arm.]
How far along are you?
[She gestures at the woman's belly.]
no subject
[Lorna smiles and looks down at her belly, feeling warm and happy.]
I'm seven months in, now. The first part was so smooth, but now I feel huge.
[She offers a hand to Alice to shake.]
I'm Lorna, what's your name?
no subject
I'm Alice. It's nice to meet you. [Her brow furrows in confusion when her eyes fall on the heavy looking bag that Lorna is holding.]
What's in there?
[She feels like she shouldn't be carrying anything that heavy.]
no subject
Here, look at this one.
[She puts the bag down and rummages around in it to find a light purple rock.]
I have no idea what it is! It's gorgeous.
no subject
It's definitely a sedimentary rock and it looks like it's set in a hexagonal close packed structure. [She looks up at the other woman curiously.]
Where did you find this? If I can see the site I might be able to see how it was form and then what the composition is.
[Her tone and expression are more serious though excitement brimming just beneath the surface.]
no subject
I'm a geologist, this is what I wanted to do when I was a kid. I agree with your assessment, and I would be happy to show you the site. This is only a small sample, there were many others on the area.
no subject
It's an honor to meet you then. I'm a Mineralogist.
[It's nice to meet others in her field.]
If it isn't too much trouble to show me the site. I can always come back later. [Which she probably will.]
no subject
[Lorna motions for Alice to follow, heading off the way she came.]
What got you into mineralogy?
no subject
[She falls in step behind the other woman easily. There is nothing super human about Alice but she's spent a great deal of time traveling and has the form to prove it.]
My father. He'd been a field researcher and I knew when I was very young I wanted to study the earth. I selected mineralogy in my Junior year. It spoke to me in a way that other disciplines didn't.
no subject
That's great! My parents got me into it too. We went on hikes a lot and I loved to poke at the rocks and sides of cliffs and. . . [she laughs] It's so fun! It hardly feels like work.
no subject
She follows behind the woman enjoying the air, the company and the floating island which begs for discovery.]
Do you know how the island floats?
[Is it a unique rock or something else?]

In layman terms I am interested in rocks. I've spent most of my life studying the earth. For more relaxing reading I prefer works like Alice in Wonderland which tend to stretch the imagination while basing enough in what we know to become invested in the tale.
Network
Any other suggestions I might have had probably wouldn't be intelligent enough for someone like you.
Network
Why is that?
Network
You seem to put a lot of thought into what you read. I can't say that's something I've done until recently.
[ Steve had always been the one recommending books, not him. He sort of regretted that he'd rarely taken him up on his suggestions when he could still remember what they were. ]

Responding to this was probably a bad idea. I'm not helping at all.
Network
What was the last book you read?
Network
The U.S.A trilogy by John Dos Passos. I'm not sure how well known it is but it was interesting. Gave me something to do for a decent while.
Network
Fiction then, have you read Darkness at Noon by Arthur Koestler?
Network
[ Really, he did. Being allowed his own voice and opinion was something he'd taken for granted until it had been stripped from him. ]
I don't get to talk to people about books very much. I'm still answering so I guess that means I'm enjoying it too.
No. What's it about?
Network
Darkness at Noon is an allegory set in the USSR during the 1938 purges. It isn't named as such but it'll become obvious as you read it. It's during the time as Stalin consolidated his dictatorship by eliminating potential rivals within the Communist Party: the military, and the professionals. Most of the book takes place in an unnamed prison.
