Welcome to Medietas! Have an interest in joining the game? Maybe you have an old muse that you want to dust off? Or, maybe you're just looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting among friends? Well, whatever the reason, this is where you can do that!
You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!
How To Play:
→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!
Possible Scenarios:
1. New Arrival: You've just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon, via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!
2. Getting Settled: So, now that you've arrived and wandered around the starter home you've been given, it's time to check out the rest of the islands. There's a market on Aerilon that is full of treasures. Or, you can check out Chapter Six bookstore. Perhaps you wander over to the Mean Princess facility on Mulciber. There is so much to see!
3. Event: Teams are being put together to venture out deep into the islands of Eurus and Mulciber to track and destroy a vicious beast who has been the reason for the disappearances of several island locals. Please help stop the creature before anyone else goes missing!
4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!
Jace Morgenstern-Lightwood | The Mortal Instruments AU | 2
The Red Rum.
He'd heard about it from a Mundane who was eager to answer his questions. It was a bar for Vampires where they could snack on volunteers rather than drink cold blood from a glass. He thought of Simon as he moved inside and quickly skirted the perimeter, casually checking things out. He was a shadowhunter and the best places to find a little fun were Downworlder bars.
no subject
The bar catered to both vampires and humans so Alec was able to get something to get something drink on his break. Something non-alcoholic since he was working and he knew that even a hint of alcohol would send him into depression over being so far from home. Leaning against the bar, he took a swallow of the juice the bartender had given him and nearly choked when he saw a potentially familiar figure.
Jace? If his parabatai was here, why hadn't he felt it? The bond still had that strange quality that meant that they were separated by realities. The only way the blond stalking the crowd could be his Jace would be if he was from a time before the ritual but then he'd be around thirteen, not the age of the Shadowhunter he was watching. A different Jace than his?
Even if it wasn't his parabatai, Alec knew that if this one was similar to the Jace he knew, there would be trouble soon. Setting down his glass, he moved so that he'd intercept the blond. Crossing his arms over his chest, he gave Jace a thoughtful look. "I hope you're not planning on picking a fight. It'd be embarrassing to have to throw you out."
no subject
He looked away, gaze skirting the bar the way he'd kept to the outside. Catching the details without having to focus.
"Would I be here for any other reason?"
He missed the real Alec and moments like this. More than he could freely admit even to himself.
"Get out of my head, Alec. I came here to stop thinking."
no subject
"Maybe to visit me at work," Alec snarked gently. Jace probably wouldn't have known that he worked at the bar, but it wouldn't have been difficult to figure out a Shadowhunter was there if someone mentioned the runes that Alec didn't cover up when he was working around vampires. Better to have to explain away the marks on his skin than get bespelled by one of the customers.
"I know you've said I'm your conscience but I didn't think you meant it literally." Sighing, he ran a hand through his hair but didn't move away from Jace. "I can't let you start a fight but I can probably leave early and you can kick my ass until you stop thinking."
no subject
He closed his eyes and not for the first or last time thought of how much he missed Alec.
no subject
It hurt to watch this Jace, seeing someone so similar to his parabatai but knowing that this wasn't the Jace he grew up with. This one was different somehow. More on edge like the boy who had watched his father die. Similar but different. Like the Izzy he was beginning to think of as his sister as much as the teenager back home. "What do I have to do to convince you that I'm really here."
no subject
Sarcasm. It's what he's best at. Other than fighting and killing.
"You can't be here. I left you in Idris. You're doing what I failed to do. Now amy I please be allowed to pick a fight. That vampire over there looks like a nice challenge even for me."
He noticed the tall white-eyed guy with bone handled sword looking his way.
no subject
Idris? Remembering what Gabriel had said about people being pulled from different times, he tried to think of when Jace would have left him. The first war when Alec had been fighting with Magnus or after Sebastian had been trying to take out all the Shadowhunters? "No you aren't allowed to pick a fight. If you do I'll go with you."
Noticing the vampire with the sword, Alec decided that improvising would probably be the best deterrent for his almost parabatai. "What if I'm real, Jace, and I get hurt because you decided it'd be fun to pick om some kind of vamp we've never fought before?"
no subject
"If you're real and you get hurt...I just need...something!" He felt like he was losing his mind and having a conversation with imaginary Alec wasn't helping.
no subject
But Jace's answers were strange. Not quite aligning with what Alec would expect from any version of his parabatai. Having the right to ask had never stopped Jace from questioning him about his relationships. Grabbing Jace's arm, he started leading him toward one of the out of the way booths. He could still see what was going on and talk to Jace. "My shift's done soon. Then we can find something to do that doesn't involve us getting beat up."
no subject
Even with his hood raised, his inhumanly smooth gait, chalk white skin, and ice-white eyes gave him away as something other than human as he scanned the bar, also skirting rather than making himself at home. He wore his sword openly as well, the hilt made of a carved human femur, visible over his right shoulder. He wasn't here for a fight, though. If he was, he'd have already started one. No, he'd come to drink, but first he would observe.
His eyes found the blond stranger across the room and he raised a single, hairless brow at the sight. If he knew body language, which he'd studied closely over the last two thousands years of like, he knew a fellow hunter when he saw one.
Even more curious...
no subject
He doesn't bother being subtle about his arrival, just appearing with his arms folded across his chest and leaning against a wall. "If you want a drink, the Roadhouse might be more your speed. Fewer vampires, more hunters."
no subject
"Thanks for the unsolicited advice, but Vampires are closer to my speed."
He'll check out the Roadhouse after he works out a bit of unwanted energy, but only because the alcohol helps to dull the pain.
no subject
"You wouldn't be planning to start a bar fight, would you, Jace?" Gabriel asks with raised eyebrows, taking a well-educated guess. One he could confirm telepathically, but this way was more fun.
no subject
Yes, he's glaring and suspicious of anyone who knows his name.
He doesn't bother with the whole leaning in and whispering the way he did with Simon-nope not going to think about Simon right now-he's just going to walk right past. "Here is some unsolicited advice for you. Don't."
no subject
Not that he actually plans to smite Jace. He's just giving him a warning that, if he has any smarts at all, will tell him what he's dealing with.
no subject
"How do you know Alec?" He's back to being suspicious because he left Alec in Idris. Alive, he hopes.
no subject
"We talked about world differences to get the basics worked out so he wouldn't put his foot in it like the first Nephilim to show up who decided shouting at an archangel was a good idea." Spoilers: It was an incredibly bad one.
no subject
Cursing fluently in a few languages that Magnus had taught him, he headed in the direction that his instincts told him was correct. Ignoring the looks of annoyances he won from the customers, he stopped when he saw Jace... and Gabriel.
"Dammit, Jace. Quit being an idiot," Alec snapped, settling his gear over his shoulders while glaring at his... not quite parabatai. Not that it mattered at the moment since Jace seemed ready to a fight an Archangel. "You're about to get smote by an Archangel. A real one. For once listen to your parabatai before we both end up getting fried!" Alec wasn't sure if it would really hurt him too if Gabriel decided to teach Jace a lesson but it should cause him to hesitate long enough that Alec could hopefully talk him down from whatever was making him that reckless.
no subject
It made him feel unexpectedly exposed to be staring at Alec as if he wanted nothing more than to hug him and hold on to him so he focused on something he could put between his imaginary parabatai and himself.
"You call this an archangel?" He attempted amused disbelief, but beneath that was uncertainty and the memory of an angel who had been tortured and used.
no subject
Then he sets a hand on Alec's shoulder to take the both of them to the edge of said lake. "So, why would him getting consequences affect you?" he says conversationally as he waits for Jace to make his way to shore.
no subject
Before he could even process his thoughts, the bar disappeared and they were at a... lake? Reminding himself that he had to breathe, he focused on Gabriel instead of what could have happened. The rune didn't hurt... would it hurt if it wasn't his Jace?
The hand on his shoulder kept him from doing something stupid like trying to jump in after his not quite parabatai. "We're soul bound to each other. There's no other bond between Shadowhunters that's stronger. If one dies, the other usually follows." There were other, worse things, that happened to parabatai but Alec wasn't going to explain that when he was trying to see some sign of Jace getting out of the water.
Letting out a frustrated, impatient sound he called out to the other Shadowhunter. "Get over here and apologize before he does something worse than throw you in a lake!"
no subject
The numbness was a nice change. Maybe he would stay in the lake until he was so completely numb he could no longer tread water.
no subject
In his experience, that sort of thing rarely turns out well. Then Jace continues to be an idiot and Gabriel rolls his eyes. "I know someone who can turn you into a fish if you feel you absolutely must stay in there!"
no subject
Realizing who exactly he was explaining their traditions to, Alec focused on the lake instead before he said anything too embarrassing. "We're supposed to be stronger together." Letting out an annoyed huff when he didn't hear Jace moving toward shore, he muttered under his breath. "And one of them is usually an idiot and the other has to drag him out of trouble."
Dragging off his jacket, he stalked toward the water. "If you don't come out of there, I'm going in and you are not going to be happy when we're on solid ground."
