T E S T   D R I V E   M E M E

Welcome to Medietas and our first ever Test Drive Meme! As we approach the grand opening of the game on April 1st, we thought we’d kick things off with a little something that will get you all interacting in the new setting! And it’s one less sample you have to worry about on your application if you’re considering our little game here.

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You’ve just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a … floating boat, with people you may or may not know? You can’t help but ponder what’s going on here, but the vessel seems to be approaching a harbor and when it docks, some lovely locals are standing in wait to greet you. After that they hand you a map and communications device and invite you to find your accommodations and explore.

2. Party, party!: On the evening of your first night in the city, a party is being thrown on Aerilon in honor of your arrival. Eat, mingle, dance, meet the other new arrivals! The locals put on quite the celebration!

3. Go Exploring!: There's plenty of places to explore, be it in your designated housing area, or on one of the adjoining community islands! Hike the mountains in Eurus. Sit on the beaches of Imber with a cocktail, or go swimming. Adventure in the forests of Mundus. Be careful though! Every area has it's dangers.

4. The Bells Are Ringing!: And that means a islands wide warning that something dangerous is approaching! But where the heck are they coming from? Nevermind that, the caretakers rally the children and the senior citizens while Scykal, Imber's local sea monster, emerges from the large body of water on the island.  Interesting.  He hasn't been spotted in a long time.  Help the locals defeat him!

5. Wild Card!: Choose your own scenario!

"Delia, of Eldorne."

Not that she believes his 'oh, whoops, clumsy me' for a second, and there's a large urge to tell him no. No. Go away. But if fifteen years have made her bitter, they've also given her more caution when she chooses to heed it.

And perhaps, maybe the conversation will prove entertaining.

"You may sit, Master Crowley."

Well then. Looks like she may be more astute than she looks.

He takes the seat with a nod of thanks, sipping his scotch a moment afterwards. "Eldorne. Not a name I'm familiar with. A sentiment that I've noticed seems to be going around. I'm not sure if I should be annoyed about having my work interrupted or appreciate the chance to meet people from what seems to be other worlds."

"I'm sure," she says, as if bestowing a confidence, "they'll allow you to feel both. I myself have left some embroidery behind, but I think I might appreciate the opportunity... Travel a bit, shall we say?

There are five whole islands, after all. And no toll-gates."

Delia smiles, an expression that briefly makes her look younger.

"A... kingdom this size doesn't have much need for tolls from what I've seen so far. Given the magic obviously involved in keeping the place up in the air and keep travel across the bridges from taking hours, if not days, I'm sure they have someone well versed in such to handle any upkeep the tolls would have normally paid for. Assuming it's something more complicated than can be handled by the people who would normally maintain the roads and so on." Not that he has anything against people who do that sort of work. A road not full of potholes is a road easy on the shocks and suspension in general of his car. Not that he has access to it right now. Just one more petty annoyance.

"And all that is true enough, Master Crowley. But I feel you've slightly missed my point.

Roads without toll-gates, without toll-bridges, are free for travellers. I believe here we do not even have to pay for an inn, given that they've given us houses.

Although," she adds thoughtfully, tapping a finger against her mouth for a moment, "that does beg the question as to why they have an inn in the first place."

"Having someplace to go home to doesn't always mean you want to go there," he points out. "God knows there were nights I didn't want to go home to the wife when I was married."

There's a shudder that's only partly faked. Not one of his better decisions.

"No, I suppose not. Men will always have their mistresses, I suppose."

This time, that smile isn't bright or lovely, but sharp. Unimpressed.

"More along the lines she had certain ideas about how much money I should have been making that didn't always match with reality. If no one wants to buy anything a particular day, no one will do so, no matter how much she wished otherwise." Of course, some of the money not making it home may have been because of buying drink and/or the services of whores he doesn't have to worry about showing the sharp side of their tongues the moment he stepped in the door may have had something to do with it.

Not that any of that is about to be mentioned.

"Oh, my mistake. I'm sure you were perfectly hard working. People can, after all, be so fickle."

She does wonder what he's up to, though, as she regards him over her tea cup.

He shrugs a little. "I had my days when I would have preferred to have gone fishing or done anything else, but everyone has them. From the mightiest king to the lowliest peasant."

Is he not allowed to have a pleasant chat? There doesn't need to be an ulterior motive. No, not at all. Maybe he should try again in a few weeks, once she's had time to settle and dislodge the bee that seems to be buzzing around her bonnet.

People do not have pleasant chats with Delia of Eldorne. At least, not without it being tinged with pity over their prisoner. And even then, it could be a trap, confidences and words turn to weapons.

If he wants to wait for her to be sweeter, he's going to be waiting perhaps until her funeral.

"Are fish less fickle than people? It seems everything has some element of uncertainty to it."
crossroadsking: (I Want That)

[personal profile] crossroadsking 2016-04-10 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
She's apparently forgotten that no one has a clue who she is here, as seen by Crowley's response of not recognizing the name of where she's from.

"No, but they, at least, make good eating, provided they aren't small enough to need to be thrown back in the river." He studies her for a moment. Maybe he misjudged. Or he just needs to wait for the stick to be removed from where it's firmly lodged in her rear.

He shakes his head and finishes the last of his drink. "Good talk. Maybe another time?"

A few hours of freedom do not, particularly, make much change to someone who has been a noble since birth, and has had much reason to be cynical about people in the last two decades.

Particularly those who appear to be friendly.

"Another time, Master Crowley."
