Welcome to Medietas and our first ever Test Drive Meme! As we approach the grand opening of the game on April 1st, we thought we’d kick things off with a little something that will get you all interacting in the new setting! And it’s one less sample you have to worry about on your application if you’re considering our little game here.

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You’ve just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a … floating boat, with people you may or may not know? You can’t help but ponder what’s going on here, but the vessel seems to be approaching a harbor and when it docks, some lovely locals are standing in wait to greet you. After that they hand you a map and communications device and invite you to find your accommodations and explore.

2. Party, party!: On the evening of your first night in the city, a party is being thrown on Aerilon in honor of your arrival. Eat, mingle, dance, meet the other new arrivals! The locals put on quite the celebration!

3. Go Exploring!: There's plenty of places to explore, be it in your designated housing area, or on one of the adjoining community islands! Hike the mountains in Eurus. Sit on the beaches of Imber with a cocktail, or go swimming. Adventure in the forests of Mundus. Be careful though! Every area has it's dangers.

4. The Bells Are Ringing!: And that means a islands wide warning that something dangerous is approaching! But where the heck are they coming from? Nevermind that, the caretakers rally the children and the senior citizens while Scykal, Imber's local sea monster, emerges from the large body of water on the island.  Interesting.  He hasn't been spotted in a long time.  Help the locals defeat him!

[ With the expectation of solitude, and suddenly finding that expectation broken, it's no wonder his instincts kick in for a moment. Jamie is halfway to drawing his sword when he realizes he's being addressed by a lass. A lone, single lass. Out in the forest.

His shoulders drop a bit, and he shakes his head. ]

Aye, I'm fine. Ye shouldn't be out here alone. [ It's meant kindly enough, from his perspective. ]

I'll be all right. [The gallantry didn't go unnoticed, but she felt capable of protecting herself. After defeating a mythical beast, she wasn't quite afraid of being helpless. It wasn't in her nature.] I just thought that I'd take a look around. So far, it doesn't seem like I have much reason to worry.

[Which was usually an invitation for trouble, but somehow, it hadn't shown itself yet.]

I'm Belle.

[brochtuarach]

Ye canna ken what's out wanderin' a place like this, lass. There could be danger 'round every bend.

[ But, he'll escort her now, and she has nothing to fear from him. He gives her a quick glance at the name, and nods. ]

Jamie. Pleasure to meet ye. Is it French? La belle femme? [ His accent is impeccable. His tutor would be proud. ]

[She'll accept the escort, mainly for his company rather than for her safety.]

French is actually my last name. Belle French. [She laughs.] It's probably not very original.

You're from Scotland?

[brochtuarach]

Worked that out on your own, did ye? [ He offers her a faint smile, and sketches a bow by way of answer. ]

As for you... not Scottish, English or Irish. Nor are ye French - despite yer name - Spanish, or Prussian. [ He knows all those accents, after his years in the army. Hers is somewhat new to him, though. ] The Colonies, perhaps?

I recognize the accent. There is someone I know who speaks with it, a deep brogue.

[She smiles softly.] It's a bit more complicated than that. My accent comes from a different place, but in your world, I think it's Australian.

[brochtuarach]

[ Jamie tilts his head, trying to place the name Australian. He of course had a very good tutor, who made sure he knew his geography, but he's not quite as familiar with such a far-flung place, and he has to rack his brain for the answer to this riddle. ]

Terra Australis? [ He finally says that, carefully. ] New Holland?

No, not quite. It started as a colony as well. In the pacific. Great Britain, England colonizes it.

[brochtuarach]

Great Britain - [ He says that with a tinge almost of sarcasm. ] - has no such colony that I'm aware of. Terra Australis is the only thing I can think of, and there aren't any colonies there. The Dutch discovered it, which is why we call it New Holland, but no one's settled it. From what I hear, there's no good farmland to be had there.

I'm from a bit further than you. What I'm talking about happens years later, during the British expansion period. But Australia isn't where I was from originally.

I've heard stranger things, I suppose. [ Claire hasn't mentioned anything called Australia, but after hearing about things like vaccines, aeroplanes and World Wars (two of them!), Jamie is pretty sure nothing will ever surprise him again. ]
