Welcome to Medietas and our first ever Test Drive Meme! As we approach the grand opening of the game on April 1st, we thought we’d kick things off with a little something that will get you all interacting in the new setting! And it’s one less sample you have to worry about on your application if you’re considering our little game here.
You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!
How To Play:
→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!
Possible Scenarios:
1. New Arrival: You’ve just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a … floating boat, with people you may or may not know? You can’t help but ponder what’s going on here, but the vessel seems to be approaching a harbor and when it docks, some lovely locals are standing in wait to greet you. After that they hand you a map and communications device and invite you to find your accommodations and explore.
2. Party, party!: On the evening of your first night in the city, a party is being thrown on Aerilon in honor of your arrival. Eat, mingle, dance, meet the other new arrivals! The locals put on quite the celebration!
3. Go Exploring!: There's plenty of places to explore, be it in your designated housing area, or on one of the adjoining community islands! Hike the mountains in Eurus. Sit on the beaches of Imber with a cocktail, or go swimming. Adventure in the forests of Mundus. Be careful though! Every area has it's dangers.
4. The Bells Are Ringing!: And that means a islands wide warning that something dangerous is approaching! But where the heck are they coming from? Nevermind that, the caretakers rally the children and the senior citizens while Scykal, Imber's local sea monster, emerges from the large body of water on the island. Interesting. He hasn't been spotted in a long time. Help the locals defeat him!
5. Wild Card!: Choose your own scenario!

So it is that the centauride is just sliding her bow into its holder on her back when she heard the scream.
Whirling around, she sees the blonde girl flail and fumble, she sees her stare at her hands and she can see the magic that's changed her. For a minute, Roshanak is furious - how dare the creators of this place, how dare they all cause such distress to a living being?
But practically speaking, there is nothing that raging will do, so instead she trots over.
"Lady," she calls out, halting a little distance from her, to give her space. "Can I assist?"
Hopefully, another not human - even if from the waist up Roshanak is, even if she's dressed in a flowing jacket with javelins resting on the straps across her equine back - will be of some use to her.

And yet that was exactly what she was now and her shoulders slumped a bit.
Finally she looks over and her eyebrows lift, surprised at what stands not far from her. The creature was unlike anything she'd seen before and yet in a way it warms her heart to see someone else there who isn't human.
"I..." She clears her throat because truly, she's not use to even speaking out loud. "Forgive me... All of this," she motioned to herself with a frown. "It is not anything I am use to. So I would not even know where to start with the need for assistance."

"Being changed into another form is very disquieting." (The word there is chosen with precision. Hopefully it goes down better than 'frightening'.) "As is being summoned like this. I've...I've had some experience in the matter."
Then she hesitates. In her own world, she could undo the spell that's trapped her new acquaintance in this form. In her own world, it'd be simple. But she's looking at her, and she can't even tell what kind of magic it is, let along her original form, and she doesn't want to make any promises, or offer hope, where she cannot deliver.
"I. Uh. One thing I recommend, quite highly, is if the chance arises, try and find somewhere quiet to regroup and get your bearings. Do you... know how to read a map?" There might be a more diplomatic way of putting that, but she's said what she's said and it'll just have to do.
As Roshanak talks, her eyes are on Saphira, but her ears - large, equine in shape and the dusting of the same dappled grey coat as her lower half - move. They flick, swivel, catching the sounds around them. Always on alert.

Perhaps she might have found being a human somewhat bearable if she'd had Eragon at her side but as it was, she had yet to even find out if he was there as well. He was her other half, part of her soul -- she was not certain how she was suppose to live without him if it turned out he wasn't there.
That thought was enough to almost make her become hysterical again and the only thing that had her grasping onto her sanity was that he might be there and she had to be able to function if she was to find out.
She exhaled slowly and swung her attention back to the creature. "Map? I have seen them before but I have never had to read one, nor read anything really." Eragon had done that. He'd read the maps and whatever else needed reading. What use did a dragon have of such things?!
Though perhaps she should have paid more mind when Eragon had done those things. Hindsight was a pain.
"What are you?" she blurted out and her cheeks promptly reddened. She had more manners than that and she lowered her head, a little sheepishly. "I should have asked that differently. I don't truly have much experience talking directly to others."

It goes a way to explaining her next actions, beyond just sheer impulse.
"I'm a centaur," she says. "Although I know magic, and I can shapeshift. Which... I'm going to do now, because we'll stand out less."
She snaps her fingers (more for her companion's sake than because she needs to), and in the next instant, she stands there as a human woman. Two feet shorter, two legs instead of four, her jacket lengthened and tan-coloured pants now covering her lower half, boots on her feet. Her quiver is still at her side, but the straps holding her javelins have shifted to now hold them on her back, next to her bow.
Roshanak hesitates, and then says, "If you don't find it patronizing for me to say so, I think you're doing very well with talking under such circumstances as these."
It is true. God knows that her reaction could be so, so much worse.
"I am Roshanak. What are you called? And... what is your true form?"
no subject
And when she saw the shapeshifting for herself, she even gasped a little. Her nose quickly wrinkled and she looked over the new form with a slight shake of her head. "Why would you wish to look like a human though? Your true form was beautiful." She would never understand why humans seemed to be the center of anything. Outside of Eragon, humans weren't that impressive.
She shrugged, her gaze dropping to her feet and her distain for her form wasn't even hidden. "I don't have much of a choice. If I fall apart, I won't be able to search for Eragon. I don't suppose you've seen him. He's---" She cut herself off because she didn't even know how to describe him now that she was human. She could describe him perfectly as a dragon but he might look completely different to her now. "He is a young human male, though now he has some elvish features, slightly pointed ears, more graceful than a normal human might be."
She didn't know though, she couldn't feel him... But that didn't mean anything, perhaps they'd taken that ability to feel their bond when they turned her human.
"I am Saphira and I am a dragon, a mighty one at that."
no subject
A little awkwardly, but she's touched, too.
"I thank you. Um, as to why, there are advantages. It... It calls less attention to one. Sometimes, that is polite. Others, it's safer." Not everywhere is understanding to her kind. And there are slavers...
"And when in cities, it can be far, far easier to move around," Roshanak moves on quickly. "Stairs, for one thing. And little narrow streets. And not hitting your head on signs, or people's laundry."
She keeps to her own form when she can, but she's not blind to how awkward it can be. Certainly not after being repeatedly smacked in the face by drying sheets.
"I...I have not, I am sorry. There are so many people about." She doesn't add that she doesn't know what 'elvish' might mean: they are far, far to the north of her. "But that doesn't mean he isn't here."
He's probably not, in all honesty. But stranger things have happened - far, far stranger. And more to the point, for Saphira's own dignity and safety, she'd prefer to get her away from the docks and all of these people before she falls apart.
Roshanak blinks then, and inclines her head slightly in respect. Centaurs are mighty warriors, powerful and wise (when they choose), but she's well aware that compared to a dragon, she's very much outclassed.
"It's an honour to meet you, Saphira."
