T E S T   D R I V E   M E M E

Welcome to Medietas and our first ever Test Drive Meme! As we approach the grand opening of the game on April 1st, we thought we’d kick things off with a little something that will get you all interacting in the new setting! And it’s one less sample you have to worry about on your application if you’re considering our little game here.

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You’ve just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a … floating boat, with people you may or may not know? You can’t help but ponder what’s going on here, but the vessel seems to be approaching a harbor and when it docks, some lovely locals are standing in wait to greet you. After that they hand you a map and communications device and invite you to find your accommodations and explore.

2. Party, party!: On the evening of your first night in the city, a party is being thrown on Aerilon in honor of your arrival. Eat, mingle, dance, meet the other new arrivals! The locals put on quite the celebration!

3. Go Exploring!: There's plenty of places to explore, be it in your designated housing area, or on one of the adjoining community islands! Hike the mountains in Eurus. Sit on the beaches of Imber with a cocktail, or go swimming. Adventure in the forests of Mundus. Be careful though! Every area has it's dangers.

4. The Bells Are Ringing!: And that means a islands wide warning that something dangerous is approaching! But where the heck are they coming from? Nevermind that, the caretakers rally the children and the senior citizens while Scykal, Imber's local sea monster, emerges from the large body of water on the island.  Interesting.  He hasn't been spotted in a long time.  Help the locals defeat him!

5. Wild Card!: Choose your own scenario!

[Elizabeth would never call what she's doing stumbling about the woods you understand; the Bennet sisters are a well trained lot of girls and Lizzie's father would never forgive her if he knew she was meandering about as aimlessly as she actually is, trying to sort out some recognizable feature about the landscape and trying to decide whether or not she'd be dreaded or relieved at the sight of a zombie.

At least zombies are familiar.

At one point she rounds a tree, at which points she happens upon Jamie.]

Oh! I'm so sorry, sir. Are you lost as well?

[Her accent is the British of - not the aristocracy, but certainly the country gentry. Her clothes...roughly a century ahead of his, but perhaps still evoking an antiquated feeling. The sword and pistol she wears upon her hips, however, are certainly recognizable as such.

Elizabeth wants to be courteous to a fellow stranger, but she's well aware that as a woman alone and without escort, she must also be cautious. And so she keeps her gloved hands near her weapons while her tone remains welcomingly relieved to have found company, and sincerely so.]

[ A strange lass out in the woods by herself is not a totally unfamiliar sight to Jamie, but it is one to cause a touch of concern - for her safety, naturally, though this one is clearly armed. Better than him, even, for he has only a sword and no pistol.

It's a strange pistol, too, different, slightly, from the ones he knows, but still recognizably a pistol. ]

Nay, not lost. Just seekin' a bit of solitude, but - I don't mind a bit of company, either.

[ He points at her weapons, curious. ] Have ye experience with those?

[There's a blink. She doesn't precisely know his accent so much as know of it.]

A Scotsman! How novel. [There's a brief flash of a smile, and then her brows furrow at his question.]

I hardly think I'd deign to carry them if I had not.

[Her tone isn't offended, but rather puzzled. Why would he presume any lack of epertise?]

Company might be prudent. Though as yet there has been very little in the way of presented threat.

[She bobs a little curtsy.] Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Yourself?

[ Novel. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, these English never fail to be patronizing, even when introductions are made. Still, he clears his throat faintly and nods. ]

I meant no offense, Mistress Bennet, it's just not often I see a lass carrying such things. I'm Jamie. Jamie Fraser.

[Truth be told, Elizabeth would be absolutely appalled to know that condescending was how she'd come off. It certainly hadn't been her intention; but then the English as a breed do have that casual sense of privilege, don't they?]

There was assuredly none taken, Mr. Fraser. I was just confused as to why you'd think I'd not have the necessary training and experience? [She's politely, genuinely puzzled.] I understand Scotland holds itself very well against the zombie horde, particularly in the Highlands. Surely the women contribute to the effort to keep them at bay?

[She seems to think this is a conversation best had on the move as well, inquiring,] Could I trouble you to escort me back to my starting point, Mr. Fraser? [She nods in the indicated direction.] Or if you're so inclined, I'd likewise be so toward further exploration.

I'm sorry, the what horde?

[ What strange language is this woman even speaking? He's never heard a word like that before, and it leaves him wondering if he misheard, or if she, perhaps, misspoke. ]

[Now it's Elizabeth who pauses. How could he not know?]

The shambling dead? As a result from the Black Plague. London had fallen before I was suddenly...[She shrugs, but a bit worriedly.] Here.

Which isn't precisely there, is it? I do apologize. I should not have assumed you'd be familiar with my situation.

[personal profile] brochtuarach 2016-03-17 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Shambling dead? Nay, there's no such thing where I come from. Only monsters I know of are human. [ Only humans could be capable of committing monstrosities against one another. ]

Well, the walking undead were formally human until infected.

[She cocks her head, studying him a moment.]

Given the plethora of folk I've met thus far, one must assume I think, that we are not all of similar origin. Perhaps the wisest course is to assume that the manner of where I come from is not the same as others. [She's not ready to grasp the idea of different worlds/realities/dimensions yet, but give her time.]

As such, please accept my most sincere apologies, Mr. Fraser, for any uncertainty or confusion I may have caused you. [An English woman and virtual stranger, offering him a sincere apology. Hell freezing over, maybe?]

Though I do concur that human beings can be just as monstrous as those who have become such in more evident definition.

Ye've nothin' to apologize for, mistress. We've all been put on our ears by showin' up here.

[ And a Scotsman who is gracious and gentlemanly! Will wonders never cease.

Also, he's used to women in his life talking about things he knows nothing about and can't understand. The perks of marrying someone from 200 years in the future. ]

But if you'd like, I'm happy to accompany ye, wherever you're going. [ Regardless of how good she is with those weapons, a woman shouldn't be wandering around unescorted. ]

[Elizabeth would be in complete agreement on the matter of escort...well, maybe 80% of the time? Now and again a woman just has to get things done, and can't wait. But by and large, it's a gentleman's role to lead the charge, so to speak. Where she comes from, women are competent combatants, but it's not as if they can join the army.]

To be quite honest, I was merely trying to get a measure of the terrain. This land is new to me, and obviously you as well. I had no specific destination in mind, save to eventually return to the quarters which had been granted to me. I would quite welcome an escort, provided I am not hindering you from your own purpose.

[Strength in numbers.]

There's no hindrance, I assure you. I was doing much the same, myself. Might as well do it together as not, eh?

[ He offers her a faint smile. ]

Indeed. Thank you, Mr. Fraser.

What directions from this point have you explored thus far?

[She moves to her pocket, pulling out a paper that she carefully unfolds. It's the map they were all given upon arrival, though there's also some penciling in of terrain that she must have added during her explorations.]
