You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!
How To Play:
→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!
Possible Scenarios:
1. New Arrival: You've just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat, with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat, but the vessel seems to be approaching a harbor with what appears to be.. are those floating islands? They sure are! And as if that isn't mind boggling enough, no one seems to have answers. But you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device and send you on your way. Perhaps the questions can wait for now. There's a new place to explore!
2. Go Exploring!: There's plenty of places to see, be it in your designated housing area, or on one of the adjoining community islands! Visit the market on Aerilon. Hike the mountains in Eurus. Sit on the beaches of Imber with a cocktail. Adventure in the forests of Mundus. Be careful though! Every area has it's dangers.
3. Party, party!: On the evening of your first night in the city, a party is being thrown on Aerilon in honor of your arrival. Eat, mingle, dance, meet the other new arrivals! The locals put on quite the celebration!
4. Wild Card! Customize your own scenario to fit your needs!
Marian Hawke | Dragon Age
Arrival
Marian Hawke would feel safe saying that up until this point, she had lived a rather uniquely adventurous life. She's delved into parts of the Deep Roads untouched since the first blight, repelled a qunari invasion and then dueled their leader, killed (or so she had thought) an ancient darkspawn, and rallied a city against a woman gone mad with red lyrium. She even has her own book. And yet, when Marian awoke and discovered that she was not only in her tent on the road, but indeed in a boat that appeared to be floating about in the air, she was unpleasantly surprised. And Bear, while having lived a life more adventurous than most mabari, also found the entire situation a rude shock, judging by the way that he jumped about on the boat, barking madly at the sky below them.
It's a relief to set foot on solid (kind of) land when they finally reach the island, but no one there seemed inclined to try to explain what in the Maker's name was going on. Is this some new kind of quest she's been put on? Briefly, Hawke can't help but wonder if Skyhold contained more sky than previously estimated, but quickly came to the conclusion that such an idea was ludicrous. And, at the least, Varric probably would have bothered to mention something about a giant floating island. No, she is forced to conclude that wherever she is, it is without a doubt far from her intended destination.
Bear at her side, Hawke grasps the strange device and map she'd been given, looking around with wide, confused eyes. Disoriented and flabberghasted, she stands there like a deer in the headlights. After a few moments, she feels enough like a fool to at least try consulting the map, kneeling down so that Bear can have a gander at it as well, occasionally looking up to try to orient herself to where she was exactly on the map.
Party
Parties were a far more usual scene than floating boats, and while it has been some time since those days as the Kirkwall Champion, reluctantly rubbing elbows with the nobles of Hightown, it was something that had, at least, occurred at some point in her life. Bear, not nearly as much of a party goer ('I guess you could say...he's not a party animal, huh?' Hawke can all but hear Varric saying, and nearly groans out loud), had been left at home. She almost regrets it, because even if she did have to spend the entire party keeping her mabari from attempting to eat the entire buffet, at least she would have someone, even a dog, that she was familiar with.
And yet, at the same time...it was almost pleasant, to have no one know who she was. She made small talk with a number of people, and every time she said her name, there was a distinct lack of eyes widening, of people gasping, and absolutely no one comparing her to that book. It was the first time in a long time that the name Hawke didn't produce some kind of emotional response, whether fear, disgust, or awe.
She certainly can't stay here, not with the threat of Corypheus looming over Thedas. But it can't hurt, surely, to enjoy being all but anonymous, for once?
Arrival! Anders is still Act 2 :D
Offering his (friend??) a hand, Anders looked at her with curiosity and a fair amount of dread. Would she confirm Nadia's opinion of him? Or could he still brush it as yet another poor mage fallen to Templar delusion and manipulation. He confessed, he preferred the latter.
Hawke would probably do a bit of a double take at Anders, who was still wearing with white feathered coat and didn't look quite as much as a stark raving lunatic as the last time she saw him. Also, no exploding Chantry's. Yet.
oh ho
She takes his hand and straightens up, haphazardly folding the map and shoving it away in a pocket, still looking at him with no small amount of shock. "Anders--" But it wasn't just that he was here, she realizes, eyes scanning his face. He was different than that day that they went their separate ways, he was...younger. There were less stress lines, and he was dressed with actual colors. Her eyes darted from his face to Bear, who was sniffing at Anders cautiously. The dog mulled it over, then gave a sharp bark, and headbutted Anders' hand. A demand for headpats was better than an attempt to bite, and she relaxed. Slightly.
"--Is it safe for you to be out here? Wherever...here is?" Hawke finally finishes, glancing around at what she can see of the city. "I mean--it's good to see you, of course, but I'd rather not contend with an angry mob while you explain to me what is going on." The fact that Anders would, indeed, explain was stated as politely as ever, but with a definite firmness. Whatever had happened, she intended to not be left in the dark.
no subject
"Oh no, not you too." Anders muttered. Really, what was it going to take to find someone who didn't know him and have a horrible opinion of him? The mage let the Mabari sniff him, thinking it over as only that dog could, and nuzzle for pats. Anders, being a animal person, obeyed. "It'd be easier if you could pretend you were a cat, you know." Anders spoke to Bear, since he was being polite. " Maybe meow once in a while and try to suffocate me in my sleep." At least the Mabari was a good distraction. He needed more animals in his life. Maybe this place needed an animal shelter.
"Well, no one's screamed 'MAGE! APOSTATE! RUN!' while I've been here. Actually, they gave me a job at the clinic and everything. They even have lyrium. At least, I think it's lyrium. Acts kind of like lyrium. Tastes different though. As for where we are? No clue." He put on a dashing, charming smile that the Templars had probably grown to hate. Anders specializes.
"Actually I was kind of hoping you were here to rescue me. So...no, I'm guessing?"
no subject
"Lyrium, but it tastes different? How does it differ when you use it? Is it more powerful, or--" No, they don't need to have a nerd mage pow wow right now, they can save that for later. She had to focus, and think. Anders had no idea where they were, but--he'd been given a job, which meant that this place clearly welcomed him. And no one trying to attack him...that bode well for her, as well. At the mention of rescuing, she laughed quietly, ducking her head.
"It's been a while since the last time I had to rescue you, hasn't it? I'd love to say that I have any idea what's happened, and I have some plan to heroically rescue you, but...I'm afraid that I'm as much of a failure at heroics as I ever was." The smile she shot him didn't quite reach her eyes, tone dipping into bitterness as she brushed against old wounds. Unable to rescue people who expected it from her, now there was something new and not at all unbearably familiar.
"Still--I promise you this, Anders." Even if he didn't want her around, or whatever that issue had been, he was still one of her old companions, and one of her old friends. She gives his hand a little squeeze, trying on a brave smile. "I'll do my best to rescue us both, alright? I'm not leaving here without you. I hope that counts...for something."
no subject
"Hawke," Anders started tentatively, brushing aside all the possibilities they might talk about. New herbs, lyrium, new worlds.
"Did...." How could he phrase this? It was easier when people just came out and accused him. "Did I do anything to you I don't remember?" He didn't want to hurt her. But how could he not? His life, Maker, all their lives, were such a mess.
"And that does count for something. More than you can know. "
no subject
"I can't say what you can or can't remember," Hawke began, eyebrows furrowed. "But if you mean if you've ever done any wrong turns to me, well--I still recall that you lied to me. About why you needed those ingredients, the drakestone and whatnot. But you apologized, and--" She pressed her lips into a line, hand reaching out to settle on Bear's head. "--I suppose, looking at it from your perspective, I understand why you did it. If you'd told me the truth, I'm not sure what I would have done."
And she turned back to him, expression grim. "That doesn't mean that...I think it was a good idea. But I understand. But other than that? You've--no, you've never done anything to me."
arrival!
In reality, she comes here looking for Cullen, or one of her other friends from home.
The bark of a dog catches her attention first. It's a rather distinctive sound, that bark, and she's heard something very like it before. It's a mabari, obviously, and for a moment, her heart leaps in her chest. She knows someone with a mabari, after all. But that particular familiar face is nowhere to be found among the people milling about. Instead, a different familiar face is there, and Nadia puts on a faint smile to mask her disappointment.
"Hawke? I didn't expect to see you here." It has, after all, been a long time. Almost three years, since she's last seen the Champion of Kirkwall.
no subject
"That makes two of us, I suppose."
There's a pause, as Hawke glances around the crowded docks, and then turns back to Nadia, her smile unable to hide the worry in her eyes. "Would you mind telling me where here is, exactly? I've no idea how I ended up here, and it is lovely, but I've got some rather urgent business to attend to." After the Inquisitor aided the rebel mages and gave them their freedom, she suspected that she didn't need to be completely secretive about her business. But time and experience had given her the wisdom to not throw all of her cards on the table when just meeting someone.
no subject
And that was years ago. Nadia can't exactly say they became close friends, so nothing about this meeting seems particularly amiss.
"They call it Medietas," she answers with a shrug. "I'm afraid we've all been brought here against our will, and we're stuck for the time being. I'm sorry I don't have happier news for you."
