Welcome to Medietas! Do you have an interest in joining the game? Is there an old muse that you want to dust off? Or, perhaps you're looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting among friends? Well, whatever the reason, this is where you can do that!

You all know what to do! If you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!

Possible Scenarios:

1. Getting Settled: So, now that you've arrived and wandered around the starter home you've been given, it's time to check out the rest of the islands. There's a market on Aerilon that is full of treasures. Or, you can check out Chapter Six bookstore. Perhaps you wander over to the Mean Princess facility on Mulciber. There is so much to see and do!

2. Islands: There is definitely some weirdness going on around the islands from the sidewalks that glow to the mysterious energy that doesn't seem to have any direct source. There are statues that hum softly and seem to grow every so often. And what is with these bridges? Go forth and investigate! Puzzles are FUN!

3. PARTY: Every month or so there's always a celebration somewhere, be it on Mulciber, Imber, Mundus, Eurus, and now Nidus! Eat, drink, dance, talk among the other islanders. It's about making new friends and enjoying yourself, right? Even if you have been stolen away from your home world to a bunch of floating islands.

4. Trouble!: All is quiet and calm when suddenly the warning signals across each of the islands sound. Not long after, or, at least only long enough to get prepared, a large hydra creature crawling out of the lake on Imber. Do what you can to help remove this threat before it gets to any of the other islands!

5. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

There's a blink and then Alec said, "Yeah. Not a very strong one, though my shields are pretty damn good. I've got a... mentor of mine who is helping me get better with doing things with my empathy."

Empathy isn't one of his stronger talents which is why he's working on it. "Why?" It's curiosity but nothing more, no judgement.

"Are they here?" He didn't intend it to come out sounding the way it did, but Jordan almost sounded desperate, expression practically pleading.

Another blink. "Do you have shielding problems?" His mentor wasn't there. Sadly. But the shields aren't something the mentor helped him with.

"That would imply I have a shield to begin with," he muttered to himself, sounding a bit bitter about it, before he spoke up. "I... feel stuff," he finally confessed. "Touching an object or a person or an animal, it can be anything. I feel emotions from them, of stuff that's happening now or has already happened and sometimes even stuff that hasn't happened yet. Sometimes it happens even when people are just standing close to me. I was... kind of learning how to block it back home, but I've never been able to really control it. Even these don't always help." He held his hands up and wiggled his fingers to show the gloves he always wore. "The stronger the emotion, the harder it is to block it, and when there's a lot of people..." He waved a hand at the various people around them. "That makes it harder too. It sucks."

For a moment Alec stared up at the sky and quietly cursed in some language. It was obviously rude and obviously not directed at Jordan. Looking back at Jordan he sighed.

"Be'sed, be'sed," Alec said - it sounded like his version of 'Okay' and pinched the bridge of his nose, "It sounds like you're not just an empath but a psychometric. That's why you're picking up things when you touch them. You probably need new gloves. First things first... actually second thing first - first would be strangling whoever let you out without shields - can you sense me. I'm shielded."

His shields were pretty tight; able to keep him free of intruding thoughts from annoying highly telepathic boyfriends.

"That's what I thought at first," Jordan explained when he brought up the word psychometric. "I looked it up on the internet. Wearing gloves mostly blocked it, except for really strong emotions. But then something... happened that amplified it. A lot. That's when all the other stuff started kicking in, feeling things from people and animals instead of just objects, and the gloves didn't always work anymore when I touched stuff."

And to explain why it wasn't really anyone's fault that he didn't know how to block out emotions yet, he said, "I didn't... ever really tell anyone what I could do, besides my brother. I didn't even know there were other psychic people in my world until... the thing that caused my stuff to be amplified happened. Then someone found me and brought me to this place where there were others like me, to learn how to control it, but I was only there for a few weeks before I got yanked here."

In response to his question about if Jordan could sense him or not, the teen frowned a little. "I... don't know," he confessed honestly. "There's too many people around - I'm feeling all sorts of things and I can't tell what's coming from who. Can we go somewhere else?" He asked it with a tinge of desperation, wanting to get away from the throng of people.

"You probably need new gloves. The old ones absorbed too much from the world to block anything any more. At least that's my guess. I've never been psychometric before." Perhaps odd words. But he frowned a little thoughtfully.

Not quite his area of expertise, though he thought there might be some people who could help Jordan on the island. Immediate relief however, Alec might be able to help him with that.

"Sure," he held up the hand not paying attention to Trey. They'd have to walk. Alec could teleport but his way of teleporting tended to not work well for other people mental states; Jordan's seemed enough as it was. "Do you mind if I try giving you some shields? They're temporary - I'm not strong enough to give you long lasting ones, but they should work until we're somewhere quieter?"

Jordan looked a little hesitant, but nodded after a moment. "Sure." If it gave him some relief, he was all for it.

Not physically touching Jordan, because usually doing that causes problems for pyschometrics also Alec doesn't want Jordan to get a blast of what he is really, (he's not for the faint of heart. Or strong of heart) Alec places a light shield over Jordan's mind. He builds it like a swirling windstorm that blows away other thoughts and voices around the center of Jordan.

"How's that?" he asked.

Jordan felt all the emotions from others around him being be swept away, taking in a deep breath of relief. He could still feel Ladon, their souls having been bonded together, but there was no longer a barrage of other emotions coming at him.

"Thank you," he said, genuinely meaning it.

"You're welcome," Alec said, a small smile on his face. "Come on, let's get you out of here. I've got a lot of strong points but holding up shields for other people isn't one."

He gestured towards the outside of the markets.

Jordan nodded and started rolling himself out of the market. He was quiet for a little bit, biting on his lip a little nervously and wondering what would happen if he told this guy about Ladon. Then he realized he didn't even know the guy's name. He decided to introduce himself first, sticking with only his first name though. "I'm Jordan."

The response, not that Jordan knows it, would be "huh, neat" and "be careful with those". Alec has had some experiences with those sorts of things. When they go sour it sucks balls. (There are reasons why he isn't completely mentally stable - appearances saying otherwise.)

"I'm Alec and this is Trey," Alec said as he ambled along at Jordan's pace. The fire-lizard gets gently swatted when his wings spread out and bonk Alec in the face. "It's nice to meet you Jordan. You're from an Earth?"

Jordan nodded. "An Earth, yeah." He was already familiar with different Earths due to knowing about Gaia. "21st century, if that helps any."

"Oh, sure. Love that time period for the most part. The air quality tends to make me... uncomfortable, but I love the pop culture stuff," Alec said, "Though I grew up in a society more like the Edwardian era."

[kindrake]

"How do you know what that century is like if you're from a different planet?" he asked curiously. "You make it sound like you've actually been to Earth."

[element_wizard]

Alec smiled broadly, and turned around to walk backwards in front of Jordan; Trey turned around perching on Alec's head to pay attention to everyone his human wasn't. "You have seen some sort of science fiction show, movie or read books right? Aliens visit Earth all the time." His voice was gently teasing, not at all mocking. Just amused.

"One of my best friends is Welsh."

Jordan found himself actually mirroring that grin, laughing a little. "I guess that's true. I sort of know an alien but she probably doesn't really count as one because she's from Earth, just a parallel one. Her Earth is called Gaia. But besides that, I don't think there's any actual aliens around... at least, that I know about."

[element_wizard]

"Nah. Alien is from a different planet not different earth," Alec said. "That's just alternate version. Though, Gaia's a much more sensible name for a planet than Earth. I mean really. Dirt? Maybe Humanous would be a better name, since it seems like planets in science fiction shows are almost always named after the dominant race of the planet."

[kindrake]

"Funny you should say that because in that world, they don't call themselves humans or Earthlings, they call themselves Gaians. I don't know if they even count as humans... They sure look like humans - or at least the one that I've met does - but all of them have psychic abilities. They were able to come to our Earth through these... dimensional doorways, I'd guess you'd call them, and had been doing it for thousands of years. That's why there's psychic people on Earth - we're all descendants from Gaians who, uh, hooked up with regular humans."

"Bah. Portals. Damn things have screwed up my world. Though they're more interdemensional tears than portals," Alec grumbled. He then grinned a bit. "It's amazing how capable humans are with breeding with so many different species and races."

[kindrake]

"I don't think they're actually a different species," Jordan mused aloud. "I think they just... all know how to tap into whatever part of us it is that makes us psychic. If that's how it works." He wasn't really sure why some people were psychic and some weren't. Chara had suggested it might have something to do with the people they were descended from and how many generations had passed between them but who knew for sure.

"So..." he trailed off, curiously looking at the little dragon Alec had. "Do you have a lot of dragons on your planet?"

"Depending on who you ask that might make them different species," Alec said lightly. "It's really kinda confusing sometimes."

He's long given up with trying to figure those things out for other worlds.

"Dragons? Oh, sure. Lots of them," Alec said. "They made my sword."

"There used to be a lot of dragons on Gaia, but... it's different from Earth. I was told the dragons are connected to it's... life force, I guess. At least that's what Chara said. There was some sickness spreading through the dragons and it started affecting the planet because they're all connected. The dragons started dying out and the planet started dying too."
