Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon!

3. Event: The Faire's in town! Feast, socialize, dance, play games! There's plenty to do and the grounds on Mundus are packed with festivities for all to enjoy.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

Bucky's eyes cautiously met her stormy gaze as he took in her appearance more closely, the intrigue just behind her own eyes easy for him to see even if he couldn't yet decipher exactly what to make of it. His eyebrows furrowed more deeply when she smiled at him, the sight still rather foreign when it was directed at him.

He dropped his attention to what was in her hand and for a moment he was unsure of how to proceed. In hindsight he didn't really know why he'd stopped or spoken up at all. Bucky had fostered no intention of drawing attention to himself to begin with, but maybe it was the simple and earnest way she spoke that kept him standing there in consideration instead of leaving right away. His gaze went back up to her face, a hint of apprehension on his own features just before she threw the ball his way. He didn't have to break eye contact to catch it -- his reflexes were far too honed for him to let it drop even if he had been given enough time to think about doing so.

The look of discontentment grew more obvious when he shook his head and held his hand out to her to return the object. Part of him wondered how differently he would have responded had she asked the same thing in an age long gone, but the past was the past and Bucky wasn't that guy anymore.

"If you want to have fun you should find someone else." He rotated his wrist to drop the ball back into her grip if she'd let him, his response controlled but honest enough.

Freya met his stare without shying away. She noticed something, his eyes were blue. As if the stormy weather in her own irises had cleared away, making way for the bright expanse of light blue that always lay hidden behind the clouds. That blue wasn't touched by the sun but something dark, something haunted, lingering just beneath the surface. The eyes were known as the window to the soul and yet Freya could only pick out small pieces in the few seconds their eyes met.

Her lips tugged into a warmer smile when his fingers curled around the ball. He was fast, which was a trait she found impressive. "Fast, strong, surely you can aim?" The words slipped from her lips before she could stop herself. This man, this stranger, needed to smile. Something made that impossible and while she was curious by nature, that something didn't matter. All that mattered was seeing that sun glint in his gaze.

"How about a deal? Since you've been the one kind enough to respond." Which he might soon regret. "You throw it and win me that cute little stuffed thing there." She pointed to a small puppy wolf thing that hung in the far corner of the stand. "And I'll leave you to blend in and shuffle off into the crowd." She probably won't hold up her end of the deal but that hardly seemed important.

She wanted him to play the game, she wanted him to smile and she really wanted that puppy.

Freya, for her inhuman nature, was strong and fast but her aim was absolutely awful. She didn't practice throwing things and while she can talk big she was very aware of her strengths and weaknesses. When Bucky tried to hand her back the ball she just stood there with her fingers wrapped around the straps of her backpack.

That she didn't immediately turn to look elsewhere was also something he hadn't expected, though perhaps he should have. The way she seemed to regard him was different than how most did, and just as he had searched her eyes he could tell she was trying to find something in his as well. That had been part of why he'd broken away, honestly, yet he'd found himself looking at her soon enough again anyway.

She probably meant for the handful of traits she'd recited to be flattering, but Bucky didn't feel much of a reaction toward them. Of course he was those things. If he hadn't been he would have died decades ago. That she had put an inquisitive spin on rather he could aim or not was what garnered a reaction, but not an audible one. Just a look that could easily be interpreted as confirmation. Did he really want to make that deal though? For some reason or another part of him almost wanted to, but not just because she'd leave him be when all was said and done. He wasn't sure what that reason was.

His lips involuntarily pulled taut for just a second when she wouldn't even take the ball back. She wasn't giving him much of a choice, was she?

"I'll do it on one condition." He gave the target a quick glance. "Tell me the name of the girl I'm winning this for."

Freya watched as her idea turned and twisted in his thoughts. He had shields and guards up which Freya assumed was a personality trait but he was really bad at hiding certain emotions. Like the fact that he was thinking or the fact that something heavy weighed on him. He sort of looked like a lost puppy, just shy of bearing it's teeth at the rain for dropping on it's head without notice.

"It's Freya." Her smiled widened. It was a charming question. She'd had full conversations with people, had even formed short lived friendships with people but they didn't always ask her name.

A smile touched her lips and she looked up at him feeling excitement bubble in her chest. He more or less admitted that he was going to play the game. "Am I allowed to know your name or do I need to make one up?" She will make up a name for him and it won't be flattering.

The shields were a necessity. He hadn't willfully chosen to become the way he had, but maybe the notion of constantly feeling the need to be on high alert and protective actually was woven into his personality. He couldn't rightfully say one way or another. Had he been that way all along or was it a result of being forced to adapt to that line of thinking? That was just another thing he had to try to figure out.

"Like the Norse goddess?" From anyone else that might have sounded flirtatious, but while he was serious there was a little bit of intrigue in the way he asked. Once one found out that apparent gods truly did exist in some form or another you couldn't really help but want to learn more on the subject -- as a curiosity and a precaution.

Idly he began gently tossing the ball in the air, both to test the feel of the object and a way to buy time while he considered just what name he should give her if one at all. After the next minute or so they'd likely never speak again, so did it even matter? It wasn't quite right to ask hers then not give his own, but...

"Bucky." He decided to let the familiar nickname fall from his mouth before he thought twice of it. It wasn't the full truth but nor was it a lie. It was the best he could do.

Freya continued to smile at him. "Yeah, my mom was crazy about Norse history. One of my sisters was named Astrid and it just gets worse from there." She liked her name though she identified more with her first name than she did her last name.

As they stand there her eyes remain on his, her gaze steady and open. There were few topics that Freya would clam up about and she kept those topics firmly in her past. When he starts tossing the ball her eyes stray from his face and watch as the ball rises and falls. It took her a few seconds to look over at him again.

"Bucky?" That was an odd name. "Is that short for something or would we have to shorten it to Buck. Buckeroo..." She looked over at him and waved a hand. "Ah, I'll stop." Freya didn't want to piss off someone she'd just met. "Now that introductions are out of the way..."

"Oh." He nodded just slightly but didn't have anything further to add to that line of discussion. It probably came across as rude or that he was disinterested but he didn't really do anything to rectify it.

Bucky decided to settle his attention on the target instead of her during the short length of silence between them. He definitely didn't need as long as he was taking to calculate the right way to hit it -- he'd figured it out a while back already -- but not talking to people often meant he usually found himself unsure of what to say.

"It's short for something." His eyes narrowed a bit but it was hard to tell if that was because Freya had annoyed him by giving his nickname a nickname or if he was simply concentrating. Without any ceremony or warning he drew his arm back and thrusted the ball forward, hitting the intended destination dead center. He felt absolutely zero accomplishment or pride in the accomplishment.

"Happy?" Bucky finally turned back down to her, despite his briefness not sounding like he was leaning toward any particular emotion or another. Part of him was wanting her to tell him he could leave, but another part wasn't positive that he wanted to. He didn't know how to interact properly, no, but it was a bit like he found some sort of solace in the way she acted like he was... normal.

Freya didn't really care if he was uninterested or if he appeared rude, he'd at least acknowledged that her heard her and then moved on. It wasn't as if the topic could go anywhere. Personally, Freya thought her name was awesome and that's all that really mattered.

"What is it short for?" She asked a second before he threw the ball. Light gray eyes watched the ball sail through the air and then smack against the pins. A smile pulled at Freya's lips and she cheered as the man behind the counter gave her the small wolf plush. She moved it's little legs in a wagging fashion as she turned on Bucky, her voice light and playful. "Of course I am! Isn't she super cute?"

Freya peeked up at Bucky, lowering the wolf enough that she could look at him. She felt very short. "Did you want it? Then you can remember the day you were awesome!" Which was always a great thing to remember.

He wanted to think that she was being far too enthusiastic about something so simple but the brightness of her smile and her innocent enthusiasm made it hard for Bucky to hold onto the notion for very long. If it had actually made her happy she deserved to be allowed to feel that. He slipped his hand into his front jean pocket but left his thumb out to idly rub against the fabric.

"... it's short for Buchanan." He said it a bit quieter than he'd meant to. It wasn't his first or even last name, but it was still a small piece of his identity. Was it okay to give out something like that?

Bucky just looked at her when she offered him the prize she'd wanted to begin with.

"Keep it." First he was too quiet, then he was responding too fast. He looked a bit frustrated at himself for a flash of a second and leveled his voice. "You'll take better care of her than I would."

Freya's smile remained strong. Her ear, while seemingly human, picked up on the soft word. She laughed and shook her head. "I can understand the nickname. I can't promise I won't call you that but I'll keep it between us." She hummed softly, lacing her fingers together.

"Since you told me that... I'll let you know one more thing...I don't have a middle name." She thought it was interesting...just like she thought he might keep the prize.

Freya hummed again. "Are you sure? You look like the kind of person who can protect the things they care about."

"Fine." His response was a little too efficient but it did the job. He might have told her to call him whatever she wanted but he had a feeling she'd interpret that as permission to actually address him as Buckaroo. She seemed like that type.

And then, again, she did something he didn't understand. Telling people things about oneself so freely seemed... dangerous. Of course the statement had made him wonder why she didn't have one, but he didn't consider it his business. Asking would go against the whole point of thinking it was dangerous.

"You shouldn't hand out details like that to strangers." Bucky looked at the toy for a moment as if that would actually change his mind before moving his eyes back to Freya. "I'm sure. You were the one who wanted her so much, not me."

"I've declared that it's a boy then and I'm going to name him Buck." A wolf named Buck; best joke EVER!

Freya looked up at him, sliding the small little wolf plush into one of the pockets of her dark pants. It's head ends up sticking out, staring at Bucky as they continue their conversation.

"You aren't a stranger, you're Bucky and believe me-" She smiled. "I can take care of myself." She has, after all, taken care of herself for the last eleven years. She's used to not relying on others to protect her and something as simple as not having a middle name can hardly be detrimental.

"I guess our deal ends here huh." She'll miss him, he's sorta... forward but secretive all at the same time. It's a fun combination.
