Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon!

3. Event: The Faire's in town! Feast, socialize, dance, play games! There's plenty to do and the grounds on Mundus are packed with festivities for all to enjoy.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

Was it possible to be confused and disappointed at the same time? Because Sebastian was sure he was both at the moment. Alec was gay, but not interested. Not that he should be interested. They had just met and Sebastian wasn't looking for someone to be interested.

Was there something wrong with him that he wasn't attractive or interesting enough to-wait. Why was he even thinking any of this when the most important thing at the moment was being lost and saying stupid things to strangers.

Wait.

"Supposedly?"

Alec was used to various reactions to him being gay. Most of it was disappointment or whispered comments about what a disappointment he must be for his parents. The thousand paper cuts he'd described to Izzy. Occasionally, he got a few looks as someone tried to decide if they should try hitting on him or not. Dating the High Warlock of Brooklyn and having two overprotective siblings made most people reconsider trying to flirt.

Having the newcomer focus on the 'supposedly' wasn't what he expected. "Yes, supposedly. Virtue isn't something that's just lost because you have sex with someone. I never understood why virginity is connected to virtue when virtue is supposed to be how good of a person someone is."

"Perhaps I lost both." Sebastian looked down at his map again, pretending there wasn't a deeper meaning to his words. "If you discover the secret you must share it with me."

And then he said it out loud to a stranger, something he had taken years to say outloud to his own father after his initial reaction, "I'm gay and I can't tell the difference."

Maybe it wasn't considered brave when the person you were saying it to was also gay. It wasn't as easy when Jack wasn't there to give him the courage. But it felt easy. Easier. And he felt strangely calmer and less worried about being lost in a strange place surrounded by strangers.

It wasn't polite but Alec couldn't stop himself from rolling his eyes and letting out a sound of disbelief. "You didn't lose both just because you had sex with a guy." Glancing over at the mundane, Alec wondered if he was struggling with the same kind of problems Alec had before finally coming out of the closet. "I didn't have to discover the secret. The guy I liked flirted with me first."

No, he couldn't think about Magnus or he'd start getting depressed again. He couldn't give in to that the way he almost had when he'd thought he was going to lose Magnus. He'd promised his boyfriend he wouldn't give in to those types of thoughts if they were ever separated again. "My kin believed that if you were gay, there was something wrong with you. You weren't an equal but they were wrong. Just like saying you lost what made you a good person because you had sex with someone. You're willing to trust me when I did the same thing and you don't even know if I was a good person to begin with"

Which probably wasn't a good way to convince someone to let him help them find their house but Alec never had been good at being tactful.

Just like Jack. Sebastian smiled a little despite trying not to. He wasn't intentionally trying to be rude, but trying to be himself when he was with Jack was different than being himself without Jack.

"What did you? When he flirted with you?"

He had run away. For months. Jack caught him eventually. Jack was the reason he was trying to climb his way out of the hole he'd buried himself in as if he'd died along side Jack. But he realized in doing so he was doing exactly what he'd regretted doing while Jack was alive.

Magnus wasn't his favorite topic since he had no idea if he'd ever see his boyfriend again but Alec remembered how confused he'd been before he'd accepted himself. This Mundane might be in the same place mentally, needing someone to talk to who thought it was all normal instead of acting like it was something to be ashamed of.

"I didn't do anything at first. I was still trying to pretend I could live up to my family's expectations. Then he - helped me and I asked him out." It'd been one of the bravest things Alec had done and there were times when he still couldn't believe he'd done it. "I kept hiding until I realized I had to finally be myself."

Giving up on the map, he focused on the newcomer instead. "The guy that you... " He wasn't going use that silly, Mundie phrase about virtue. "Did you flirt first or did he?"

Sebastian's instinct was to hide. Hide everything. But that hadn't worked out then and it certainly hadn't been working now. He'd been too afraid, too caught up in his own fear and uncertainty, he hadn't fully lived when he had Jack and that was his greatest regret.

Not just for himself. Jack had deserved better. Jack had deserved more from him. And it had only been at the end that they had finally found themselves in a good place.

Sebastian realized he'd let himself get lost in his own head. "Jack. His name was Jack and he...he flirted first. In fact, he flirted for months before I finally flirted back."

Was. The word caught at Alec's curiosity but he had the feeling that he shouldn't ask. Izzy said he was terrible at being social but she didn't realize that lacking the expected Lightwood guile didn't mean that he wasn't observant. Something had happened with Jack that had been painful. A breakup maybe, like the one with Magnus that had left Alec heartbroken and having to reevaluate everything in his life.

"That's how things with Magnus would have been if he hadn't had saved my life," Alec admitted, smiling wistfully. "I would have ignored him completely and told myself that I should always do what's safe. If Jack was that persistent and managed to get you to flirt back, then there's no way that you lost what makes you good because you were with him."

No. But he had lost Jack and he was trying to find the good again. But he wasn't sure saying that outloud was appropriate. Possibly an overshare. The strange thing was he wanted to overshare and he wasn't sure why.

"I'm learning all over again...at least, I'm trying to be..." Deep breath. "I'm sorry. This is still...difficult."

He realized he was rolling and twisting his maps in his hands and immediately stopped.

"There's nothing to be sorry for. I think most of us are going to be learning all over again." The words were tempered with a small smile. "We all lost people when we came here." The 'was' didn't sound quite right for that assumption but Alec wasn't going to ask about it.

Noticing the damage to the map, Alec told himself to focus on that, not the sadness that seemed to cling to the Mundane. "We could find where I'm supposed to live. The newbie housing could all be in that area or someone there might know where you're supposed to stay."

"Thank you. For helping me and for-" Sebastian took another deep breath and found his smile again, tinged with sadness, but also genuine. He was trying to smooth out the map. "Maybe we could learn together."

That didn't sound clingy or suggestive. Not at all.

"I mean...since we're all here and we being...everyone, not just us. You and I....did I mention I'm mostly incoherent when I get flustered or..."

He's just going to stop talking now.
