Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You've just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat, with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat, but the vessel seems to be approaching a harbor with what appears to be.. are those floating islands? They sure are! And as if that isn't mind boggling enough, no one seems to have answers. But you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device and send you on your way. Perhaps the questions can wait for now. There's a new place to explore!

2. Go Exploring!: There's plenty of places to see, be it in your designated housing area, or on one of the adjoining community islands! Visit the market on Aerilon. Hike the mountains in Eurus. Sit on the beaches of Imber with a cocktail. Adventure in the forests of Mundus. Be careful though! Every area has it's dangers.

3. Party, party!: On the evening of your first night in the city, a party is being thrown on Aerilon in honor of your arrival. Eat, mingle, dance, meet the other new arrivals! The locals put on quite the celebration!

4. Wild Card! Customize your own scenario to fit your needs!

[Obi-Wan was no stranger to using comms and while he wasn't used to a network quite this large, it was still not a foreign concept. It was easy enough to figure out the way the handheld comm worked and once he had it in focus, he lowered his hood and addressed the camera.]

Some of you may know me. I'm Ben Kenobi, more formally known as Obi-Wan, and I wanted to find out just how many of you have arrived within the last few weeks. I can't exactly determine how I got here so I thought to collect as many stories as I could to see if I could decipher a pattern.

If you're on this frequency, could you share with me how you arrived? Was it from the boats? Did you simply wake up here or was there some other precipitating event? Any assistance is wholly appreciated.

[He did say it was the formal way to address him, after all... although Alric hesitates just a moment, since it's so unfamiliar a name.]

[He smiles affably and politely, with just a hint of contrition in case he's off the mark a bit.]

Alric, of House Caelegart. I'm not certain I can offer much information of value, however. I did arrive by boat. I'd been on my way home at the end of a diplomatic mission, but I recall nothing of any particular note happening at that specific moment. The quiet calm that makes up the bulk of most voyages by ship, I'm afraid.

[It wasn't the sort of information that was terribly enlightening but sometimes investigation was the culmination of lots of tiny pieces instead of one large bit of information. Maybe this would be the same.]

I arrived from a desert after having spent some length of time in a small, charming village. It doesn't seem to have any resemblance to your arrival but maybe there's more than one way.

Mm... I confess I've not discovered a pattern yet, myself--men and women of the highest station and of no title whatever, from children to grandparents... although mostly adults, it seems, typically perhaps twenty to thirty years of age. Many seem well prepared to defend themselves or others, but certainly that cannot be said for all... although...

[He trails off, and chuckles softly, with a light shake of his head.]

...forgive me, I don't mean to rattle on, but it's something I've thought about, as well. I'd certainly be amenable, if you wish to exchange notes, so to speak.

[Young, able-bodied people who seemed to be able to defend themselves? What sort of place was this?]

You don't suppose we're being prepared for battle, do you?

For battle..? If so, then in a most roundabout manner. If I were to suggest anything of the sort, it might be that we are needed as protectors--and that those less able to defend themselves are here as a motivation. ...but protectors from what, I could not yet guess. And this is of course all merely conjecture.

[Obi-Wan snorted a bit, trying to decide how he felt about that. Did he really want to be here for that? Did he have a choice?]

Well, if it comes to fighting or protecting, I can offer my best.

[Alric took that reaction well in stride, with only a slight quirk of his eyebrows--typical of a diplomat, keeping his demeanor affable, polite, and generally unperturbed.]

I'm certain we'll all be appreciative of it, come what may. For the most part, we make ourselves useful as townspeople, however; I, for example, teach at the school, and at the training facility.

[It seems a sensible enough question to her, except for... Well. A Big Thing.]

It's not pleasant, Obi-Wan.

I fell. And should have died, along with my child. But I woke up on the boat as I had before I fell, and we're both...

[She's still limping, Sprout's in an incubator: 'fine' doesn't quite work]

Alive.

But I don't want to talk about the reasons for falling. Might be others the same.

[Obi-Wan gave her a gentle smile and hoped that it was comforting to her. It seemed as though she'd been through a lot and while her voice was strong and confident, he wondered if she was hiding anything.]

I wouldn't ask you to talk about it. Is there anything you need? Alive can cover a lot of states of being, after all, and if I could help, I would.

I'm... I can't complain. It's unimaginably better than what I left.

[It's not a dismissal, but neither is it a request for help: she doesn't know him yet. Doesn't know what advantages or catches are with him.

And he looks kind.]

But I guess... How many here are the same? Rescued from, uh. Dying. Or brought from bad places.

I can only hope that you do find solace and peace here, in whatever way you can manage it. It would be my hope for anyone, of course, but your situation sounds particularly troublesome.

I wouldn't want you to go back to it.

[She's silent for a long, uncomfortable moment. Eventually:]

You mean that. Don't you?

[Obi-Wan nodded.]

Absolutely, I mean it. I am a Jedi. The nature of what I am means that I can feel the pain of others. I never want anyone to be in pain.

Sounds like a hard thing to live with.

[Angharad sounds sympathetic]

[Obi-Wan nodded in agreement. It was difficult, yes, but it was something that he would rather have than not have.]

It's worth it, I think. I would rather know how my actions affect others so I can conduct myself accordingly than to be blind to how others feel. Even the smallest action can cause ripples far outside one person and I would hate to hurt someone because I simply didn't know how they felt.

I find it important to be mindful of others before considering yourself.

What happens when it's... It's the time to be selfish? To value yourself, above another?

[Obi-Wan considered that for a moment before responding and when he did, his words were carefully measured.]

To take care of oneself is important and not to be forgotten. I was speaking, of course, of selfless acts for another person but sometimes a person needs to turn that inward.

It only becomes a problem when your actions begin to affect others in a negative way. I don't suspect that's what you mean, though.

[It's a tiny movement, the twist at the corner of her mouth. Blink and you miss it.]

Why not? Why don't you suspect that?

The way you said it. Forgive me for prying, if it feels that way, but it sounds like you need to look after yourself for a while - which is much different than hurting someone else to achieve your own goal.

Nah, I should be apologizing. I started us all serious. I have a lot of things to sort out. Shouldn't burden a stranger with 'em.

Like everyone else it was via the boats but the last thing I remember was it had not been long after I was kidnapped, really long story.

[Obi-Wan tipped his head a bit, surprised at her candor.]

Are you all right? Do you need a healer? I'm not the best at it, myself, but I could give it a try.
