Hawke's head shoots up at the familiar voice, eyes wide with surprise. Staring in dumbfounded shock seemed to be the fad of the day, and Hawke was putting it to good use. It's hard to say who she would expect to see her here, when this was so far out of her realm of experience that she hadn't quite yet managed to form any expectations, but suffice to say that Anders walking up to her in the middle of broad daylight still managed to blow through them.
She takes his hand and straightens up, haphazardly folding the map and shoving it away in a pocket, still looking at him with no small amount of shock. "Anders--" But it wasn't just that he was here, she realizes, eyes scanning his face. He was different than that day that they went their separate ways, he was...younger. There were less stress lines, and he was dressed with actual colors. Her eyes darted from his face to Bear, who was sniffing at Anders cautiously. The dog mulled it over, then gave a sharp bark, and headbutted Anders' hand. A demand for headpats was better than an attempt to bite, and she relaxed. Slightly.
"--Is it safe for you to be out here? Wherever...here is?" Hawke finally finishes, glancing around at what she can see of the city. "I mean--it's good to see you, of course, but I'd rather not contend with an angry mob while you explain to me what is going on." The fact that Anders would, indeed, explain was stated as politely as ever, but with a definite firmness. Whatever had happened, she intended to not be left in the dark.
