Test Drive

Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon. Or, attend one of the many block parties!

3. Lost!: Somehow you got yourself turned around and confused and getting back to where you want to be is looking impossible.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

02.

Given the sudden and abrupt relocation, taking things in, to say the least, was rather challenging. The mage had reacted much like the rest, with varying degrees of confusion and anger. He'd attempted to port back to Karazhan, or anywhere in Azeroth for that matter, but all he seemed to do was put on a show for the people on the boat with him and down on the docks when he attempted it for a second time.

Medivh spent the next several hours walking, looking, trying to understand and while the floating islands most definitely reminded him of Dalaran, he was quick to learn that overall, there was a different kind of intrigue about the place.

With Atiesh in hand and his cloak hood up, the mage continued through each of the islands silently learning what he could.

Merlin had canted his head curiously when he spotted the magic the man was using, or trying to use. He had been busy then, but hours later, he ran into the man again and grinned as he fell into pace with him. Merlin had a vested interest in new people, and in magic, as well, and he loved learning about both.

So he walked along next to the man, waiting to see his reaction.

Merlin wore a simple robe, one of dark blue, with dark boots on, and a belt around his middle. From the belt hung various pouches and bags, each holding something or other, all looking alike and like they were empty.

The walk with the strange man continued for a matter of ten or steps before Medivh even looked at him. There was no expression on the mages face, no manner of being irritated or curious at the presence of the person.

Eventually he sounded, green eyes remaining forward as he spoke low and quietly. "Are you lost? Because if you are, I will be of no help."
themerlin: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] themerlin 2016-06-12 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Nay, good sir. I have been here for a few months, myself. I am here, instead, thinking on the idea of aiding thee. Thou'rt a newcomer, and a magic user, I believe." He cocked his head toward the other with an upraised eyebrow, speaking in question with his expression.

"I know a tavern of seemly air, and friendly mien, where answers are granted by those who have them, though, as in all things, there are always unanswered questions."

[personal profile] thelast_guardian 2016-06-14 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
The manner of which the other man spoke was noted, but not recognized and the mention of magic caused the archmage to lift an eyebrow only just. Of course, he wasn't exactly being discreet with his attempts to create a portal which clearly was the case here, Medivh thought.

The Guardian was a man of few words, so when the invitation came to him, he regarded him past the edges of his hood before inclining his head in acceptance.

"I have questions and a thirst. Please, lead on."

[personal profile] themerlin 2016-06-14 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Merlin nodded and bent their path then. A step faster and leading rather than accompanying him.

"It's called the Roadhouse, and the tavern lady is known as Jo. A great many people find themselves drawn there, and thus there are answers sometimes, there, that are nowhere else."

He walked in silence for awhile, to see if the other wished to ask anything now.

[personal profile] thelast_guardian 2016-06-16 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Medivh gave a slight nod and simply followed.

"Who, exactly, gets drawn there?" he questioned, wondering if the reason he was being taken there was because he was what the other man called 'a magic user'. The Guardian could tell the man was one, as well. "People like us, you mean?"

Not exactly subtle in calling him out.
themerlin: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] themerlin 2016-06-16 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
"People of all shapes and kinds. Old and young, magic and not, human and not, people from advanced technological worlds, and people from ancient ones, and yet others from advanced magic ruled worlds." Merlin chuckled.

"But mostly, in the end, people who need to know that there is yet hope in the world. It is Harvelle's Roadhouse, and here, the line stops, and goes no farther. When shadows come, and blood runs, none who long walk these halls run with it." His voice was soft.

"Some come merely for the drink, and leave, never to return, but if they do come back... they find themselves among those who believe in defending those who cannot defend themselves."

He listened quietly, taking in the information as if he were reading it in one of the many books back in the library of Karazhan, his home. What seemed perplexing was hearing of the many different people here. Was his title carried over? If so, why? The things going on in Azeroth were far more threatening than a relatively peaceful floating kingdom.

And those were only his initial thoughts on the matter. Medivh couldn't even fathom at the moment that all these people were brought in from so many different places outside the realm he was tasked in protecting.

"Why? And for what purpose?" he questioned further. Why him?

"You look like you're kind of lost," Adam greeted mildly as he watched the man pass by the coffee shop. He was hanging outside of it, washing one of the windows (mostly because he could, and it was slow inside) and generally tidying up some of the outside tables. From afar, he'd watched Medivh regard everything with the eye of someone new, who was not only trying to acquaint themselves on a surface level, but maybe more than that.

But he wasn't about to guess that right off the bat.

Therefore: a very casual, Southern-sounding greeting as he straightened up and cracked his back with a proper stretch.

[personal profile] thelast_guardian 2016-06-13 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
To anyone passing him, Medivh was doing just that: regarding his new surroundings. But, the truth of the matter was that the Guardian was following something. He could feel it; a certain feel of something magical under the ground and perhaps even deeper than that.

When the boy spoke, the archmage had been stopped and had his gaze directed towards the palace. "Do I?" he answered in a soft, flat monotone voice.

Only after a moment longer did Medivh look at Adam before stationing his tall greatstaff (which stood on its own) and pulled back his hood. "Why do you think that?"

At the question, Adam paused, hesitated, and then shrugged one shoulder a little. "Just a feeling, I guess," he replied, tossing the rag he was using to wipe things clean over his shoulder for safe-keeping. He, sadly, hadn't yet noticed the sensation beneath the earth. The hum in his deaf ear was too vague, too much for him to really focus on, and if it was a line like the one beneath Cabeswater, it definitely didn't need any help so far.

"I mean, unless you know exactly where you're going." A beat. "Maybe it's just that you don't look like you have a set destination. Not like most people around here."

As he spoke, Adam's eyes slid sideways, away from Medivh and over to the greatstaff. Most things didn't stand up like that all by themselves. He couldn't help but stare a little.

"I don't really." Medivh answered, joining his hands together in front of him in a more formal way. "My walk has been not so much to learn of what I can of this place, but rather what I can't."

The mage left that to whatever interpretation the young man might have, though he felt as if Adam would understand, more so than any of the others he'd happened to interact with up until now.

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-06-16 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Adam merely blinked at that. Oddly, it did make a lot more sense than one might have assumed at first glance. That was one way of going about it.

Slowly, he nodded. "How's it going so far?" He had to know, just on principle. Maybe it would give him a little insight of his own. And then, because he could, he gestured slightly towards the greatstaff. "And out of curiosity, how's your staff do that?"

The mage glanced down and to the bottom of Atiesh before pulling a hand out to hold his fingers as if he were holding something. In them, a tiny white blue sphere of controlled light formed and glowed as two slim fingers stretched down to the ground on either side.

"I would say very well." Medivh said, glancing up with only his eyes. He released the orb and in less time than it took to blink, it was gone. "The staff yields its own power from much the same kind of energy it took to create the magic."

The display was not meant to show off in any way. Rather, it was shown to give the other a better understanding without confusing him with words.

He was silent as he watched, and it was probably abundantly clear - especially to anyone observant - that he was absolutely rapt. Physical displays of magic weren't something he was entirely familiar with. His world never lent itself to that, but he knew that there was a chance for it. Cabeswater was like a version of it: it was a manifestation of the ley line. Everything Ronan dreamed: manifestations. The way he'd been saved from those tiles outside the school: a manifestation.

But nothing quite like out of a fantasy movie, not like this. This was like everyone's true version of magic, and he was all right with it.

Actually, he was really curious as to if he could do that one day.

"That's part of this place, isn't it? The energy you're using." It was speculation, of course, but his experiences lent themselves to it: not drawing power from oneself, but from an outside source. "You're tapping into whatever's keeping this place afloat?"
thelast_guardian: (♦ approaching)

[personal profile] thelast_guardian 2016-06-21 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"It's part of most places." Medivh replied, stepping back one foot to line himself back up with his staff. He curled his fingers around it's middle and nodded. "There is a form of something and while I was able to show you what I just did, I haven't tried casting anything larger."

Well, there was the portal incidents, but why bother talking about the failures.

Re: Medivh | Warcraft | 2

[personal profile] birthrightblack 2016-06-13 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Jaenelle hasn't been to this world before. It's not Kaeleer or Hell and while it looks a little like Terreille on the surface, it doesn't have the undercurrent of corruption she always feels there. She doesn't feel hunted the way she does and that makes this a new realm entirely.

She, too, has a hood and she pushes it back, assessing the other man. He feels like Blood, like he wears a Jewel of some deep color but the magic doesn't feel the same. She senses it, yes, but it's different. How is it possible? How would someone be able to do magic without a focus? Even she, a Queen and a Black Widow, can't do magic without a jewel focus.

"There's power in you," Jaenelle says bluntly. Gone is her normal air of girlishness and instead she is steady and greeting an equal. She may be young, yes, but her soul is very, very old.

"I can sense it."
thelast_guardian: (♦ approaching)

[personal profile] thelast_guardian 2016-06-13 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It was such power that Medivh could sense in her, as well. Just as he did with Khadgar that first when he came to Karazhan for the first time with Lothar. She wasn't the only one either. The Guardian could it pretty much everywhere he walked; above and below the ground he walked on.

Green eyes found her and paused a moment, regarding the young woman. "As do you. Different, but when it comes to power does it really matter?"

It was really about what you did with it, right? Irony, right there in the making.

"What is your name?" he questioned.
birthrightblack: (Default)

[personal profile] birthrightblack 2016-06-14 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I have many names," Jaenelle says, laughing softly. She does, truly, but she guesses he's after the one she likes to be called and not a title. She smirks a little and tilts her head, assessing him.

"Jaenelle is the one you'll want to use. I have others, though, and titles too. I suspect you're the same?"
thelast_guardian: (♦ dire situation)

[personal profile] thelast_guardian 2016-06-16 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
He's doing quite the same and though his rather aloof behavior might suggest the wizard was uninterested, he was anything but. Titles were mostly basic in his world, nothing telling of the powers or abilities that one had within.

Though his role in protecting the people in his realm earned a title known throughout.

Clasping his hands together, the mage gave a slight nod. "People in my world call me Medivh. Or, the Guardian. What place do you come from?"
birthrightblack: (Default)

[personal profile] birthrightblack 2016-06-18 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)

"From Terreille, from Kaeleer, from Hell. From all of those places," Jaenelle says, thinking that is a perfectly adequate answer. She's always been a bit queer and strange; kindred, but not kind. Alike, but not like. It's always made her feel impossibly alone, separated from others by a gulf of power. She wonders if he feels the same.

"And you? Do you recognize the realms I'm talking about?"

thelast_guardian: (♦ investigating)

[personal profile] thelast_guardian 2016-06-21 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Alone is something Medivh knows well. Not because his gifts of magic set him apart from those he was close to. The much larger job was protecting a realm full of people on his own that made it lonely. Everyone saw him as the Guardian. Even Llane and Lothar. Khadgar, too.

Medivh was only what he was once called.

He shook his head. "Only one. Though "Hell" can be a number of bad places." A beat. "Your magic, how long have you been practicing?"
birthrightblack: (Default)

[personal profile] birthrightblack 2016-06-26 01:23 am (UTC)(link)

"Since I could remember," Jaenelle says. She tips her head a bit, curious as to why someone would think Hell was a bad place. Then again, she had grown up with the High Lord as her surrogate father, so perhaps her perception is a bit warped.

"Hell isn't so bad, depending on what you make of it. My Papa would probably tell you it's all a matter of perspective."

thelast_guardian: (♦ I exist to protect)

[personal profile] thelast_guardian 2016-06-28 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"And how would you describe it?" Medivh asked, genuinely curious given how the young woman took to informing him of the place.
