Test Drive

Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon. Or, attend one of the many block parties!

3. Lost!: Somehow you got yourself turned around and confused and getting back to where you want to be is looking impossible.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

Anne of Cleves | The Tudors

[personal profile] 4th_survived 2016-05-31 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Arrival
She thought things might be better. Once she accepted the divorce, she..her own ladies..tried to tell her the worst was over. She'd gone to bed that night hoping to think better of things in the morning.

Yet she woke up to moving, found herself on a..ship, but ships couldn't float-they shouldn't float. For a moment, Anne thought she'd gone mad, that the strain from her failed marriage and the news of the divorce had strained her nerves to madness: her father had gone mad after all, there was fear it was catching. To compound matters, madness or not, she was still in her nightdress, in public-or so it looked like it.

Anne forced herself to move, arms wrapped around her as though to shield herself from the looks. This place..wherever it was, it wasn't England or even France or Cleves, and she couldn't think where else in her mind it would be.

She could feel the wind, the boat moving, see the boat coming to..shore? They were getting off, these strange people, and she had to move with them. Those on the docks seemed to have answers-maybe she could find a way back to England? Yet that would mean more people, and she was still half dressed.

Carefully, Anne stepped off the boat and towards the people to greet them. If she could find another lady, perhaps one amiable enough, maybe she would feel safe enough to go and find some proper clothing.

"I beg your pardon," She said, her german accent strong as a sign of nerves. She was given the package, but only looked at it long enough to know where she was to live. "But would you mind if I walk with you, I need to find this place here." She pointed to the address.

Getting started

So, she wasn't mad; that was something to be thankful for. Also to be thankful for was the lady-constable (Anne couldn't believe it, but she wasn't going to question either), who was willing to escort her to her lodgings and show her what and how things went. There were some of her gowns there, so she didn't have to worry about being indecent in this place-however strange. Though that still left the question of 'what now'?

Anne spent a quarter of an hour around her new home, before working the courage to go outside and walk around. Much as part of her wanted to remain holed up with her quarters, it was too lonely without her ladies. Maybe if she were to spend some time outside, she'll be able to make sense of this place?

It was easy to mistake Micah for a woman--people have definitely done it before, especially from the back--and when he hears the voice addressing him he turns, shielding his eyes from the sun. He's without his sunglasses, so his eyes in all their inhuman beauty are on display as he takes her in.

"Of course."

Anne never considered herself superstitious, for all her mother raised her as catholic. Yet, when the..young man turned to face her, she actually felt herself making the sign of the cross. Besides the embarrassment of her predicament, and mistaking him for a strangely dressed woman, she couldn't believe a person this beautiful could be human.

"Oh.." She tried to find her speech. "Well, I don't know. Forgive me, I thought you were a lady." Anne forced herself to speech slowly, though her german accent would've been all the thicker.

The good news was Micah was used to that reaction, and took a step back when she lifted her hand, though he was plainly unaffected by the gesture, short of a quiet sigh and a flicker of frustration mixed with hurt. "No apology necessary," he said, closing his mouth so she wouldn't see the tiny fangs that were where his canines should have been.

"I am sorry I startled you, miss. I hope you find what you're looking for."

She was suddenly aware of her state of dress-or lack there off. "There's too much to be startled from already." It was hard to say if she said this to him or herself. "I..I don't suppose you know know where I might find my quarters?"

She carefully handed him the paper with her name, island and address.

Unsettling as it was, she had to find her directions. Perhaps then she could find a lady (one who was clearly a lady) to walk with her.

Micah being new himself didn't have all the answers to her questions, but he'd already opened the map--he disliked being lost in strange places. And looking at her address and the island she'd be on, he pointed out the direction.

"I believe we're both heading in the same direction for now," he said quietly. "If you'd like something to wear over your dress, I can loan you an overshirt." He had one on, and it was warm, and she seemed incredibly uncomfortable. The three added up to a reasonable answer.

She gave a short nod. An overshirt was hardly proper covering, but it was much better than going around in her nightdress. "Yes, that would be appreciated."

The thought of walking with him made her hesitate to fully accept. Much as she would've preferred to walk with someone, the last thing she wanted was to give anyone the wrong idea of 'why' she was walking alone with a man. On the other hand, they were going in the same direction.

"And..yes, I'll walk with you."

He stripped his off easily, leaving him in a simple gray sleeveless singlet--still covered--and his jeans as he passes the shirt to her. "You don't need to be so nervous. You are perfectly safe. If that was your concern."

She accepted the shirt and slipped it on. "Thank you." Atleast she had some covering now.

Anne could only shake her head. "That is part is, but..we don't know eachother. Suppose, people get the wrong idea." Inwardly, she knew one of the only reasons why Henry was so generous was because she guarded her reputation so heavily-he could find no fault with their marriage other than non-consummation so her life was spared.

"My name is Micah Callahan," he says. "And so now you know me. But if you would like, I can point you in your direction and leave you to it."

She paused, genuinely considering the options. On the one hand, it could've been argued that some escort was better than none, but even if she knew his name, she didn't know 'him'. To be seen alone with a man she only knew by name, could spread like anything.

"I am Anne, Duchess of Cleves," She answered carefully, trying to recall the order of words. "If you could, I would be thankful."

Better to go on her own and find a lady to walk with her, than to risk her reputation.

Getting started.

Gabriel's on one of his jaunts around the islands to explore and keep himself occupied when he spots Anne. Well, hello there. That's a style of dress he hasn't seen for a few centuries outside of Renfaires and historical dramas or documentaries. It certainly gives him an idea of the time period she's from along with her probable rank.

"Hello, my Lady," he greets her with a friendly smile as he falls into step beside her. "I take it you arrived on one of the boats from today and are giving some of the modern things around here a look?"

Re: Getting started.

[personal profile] 4th_survived 2016-06-02 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
For all her attempts to hide otherwise, there's a guarded tension to her that belies she's a new arrival. Anne spent months trying to conceal her fear and nerves, her dignity and poise as a sort of armor.

Even so, she was started seeing the stranger walk besides her. She'd never been all that great around strange men, but, atleast she was properly dressed and not in just a nightdress, that was something she could feel better about. "Modern?" She repeated the word, her german accent especially thick. "I am, giving things a look around here."

Her words are slow, careful. English was still a language she was learning, and clearly this man spoke english, but doing so when she was nervous was always tricky.

"I can change languages if it'd make it easier?" Gabriel offers, switching to German easily. "Yes, things that are from the current day of the majority here rather than from the time period you're from. Most here, including me, seem to be from around the year two thousand to about a decade after."

He quiets down after that, aware she'll need a moment to absorb that shock.

He was right indeed to stop when he did. After so many changes (between the annulment and now this), Anne still wasn't sure she'd gone mad, for all those trying to assure her otherwise. Inspite of this and her composed manner, she felt her mood lift and a slight-very slight-smile appear when he started speaking in german. Everything and everyone here was so new to her, even the slightest of familiarity was welcomed.

"Yes, please, this makes it much easier." She switched to german, glad to be able to speak it again after having to switch to English and then relying on translators. Every on the court was impressed at how quick she was able to learn english, but it was such a relief to be able to speak her native language again.

Yet, what he told her started to sink in. "Two..two thousand years?"

How was that possible?

[personal profile] lotsoflaughs 2016-06-02 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm thinking you're from the 1500's based on the fact what's when your dress style was popular?" Leaving him room to be wrong. "So people are from around four hundred years after your time. More or less. If it helps any, someone's from around the year one thousand so you're from later than he."

So there's the small consolation of someone being further out of his depth than she is.

Gabriel exhales a breath as he thinks about how to explain things further. "There's obviously magic involved in the place since islands don't just float in mid-air on their own. Same with ships that look like they belong on water. We don't entirely know why we're here and the locals aren't really any more knowledgeable about it than we are."

[personal profile] 4th_survived 2016-06-02 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
She shook her head, all of this still a lot to take in. "It is the year fifteen hundred and forty.." She answered, confirming what he said, but more as a way to make sure she heard correctly.

"Magic..." She didn't like to think herself superstitious, but this..all of this couldn't be anything but magic. "And no one knows why or how we got here?"

For what purpose, and why her? She was divorced from the king and she wasn't sure anyone would wish for her brother's influence if they controlled magic.
lotsoflaughs: (Slight Grin)

[personal profile] lotsoflaughs 2016-06-02 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
She actually took the magic thing better than he thought she would. Good, saves him from needing to deal with that.

"The how, no. The why..." Gabriel bobs his head more uncertainly. "For some of us it's obvious, given the attack of monster rabbits. Quite a few of us got involved in the fighting. Gave a lot of people a way to let out frustration at being grabbed from home and needing to resettle. I mostly stayed somewhere high up and picked off those who looked like they were giving people I know too many problems. Others are more suited to patching people up after, others more towards helping run things in various places. Or other tasks."

[personal profile] 4th_survived 2016-06-03 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Once more, she was grateful for the chance to speak german, otherwise what he told her..she still wasn't certain she'd gone mad. All the talk of magic, of demon bunnies.

She shook her head. "Forgive me, sir, this is a lot to take in." And here she thought the worst was having to get used to being the 'ex wife' of King Henry.
lotsoflaughs: (Slight Grin)

[personal profile] lotsoflaughs 2016-06-03 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Gabriel nods at that. "I know. Easy enough for I and other people used to weird things to take in stride--although granted, we're not always happy about it--but there's others here who needed a moment to process."
