Test Drive

Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon. Or, attend one of the many block parties!

3. Lost!: Somehow you got yourself turned around and confused and getting back to where you want to be is looking impossible.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

Arrival

Blinking the sleep out of her eyes, the first thing Saya sees is rich wood flooring. As the fog begins to lift, she becomes increasingly aware of her surroundings. Wooden railings, the swaying water in the distance, unfamiliar faces all around her... suddenly her mind kicks in sharply. For a moment the idea that she'd awoken from hibernation seemed entirely possible. She remembered how heavy her body had felt - just how difficult it had been to keep her eyes open. Yet now it was easier than it had been in months. Yet her memories were crystal clear without a single blank and her hair had not grown an inch more than she remembered. Had there been some sort of mistake? How had she come here?

When the boat docks, she steps off uneasily. Just like her, there are a number of confused faces. A lot of them were more panicked than hers. It wasn't that she didn't feel those things, just that she couldn't bring herself to react so strongly. Where her calm came from... perhaps it was the comfort of waking up and feeling very much still like herself.

Looking around, she can see where her next step will lead her. This isn't something that she can do on her own. Once she's back on solid ground, she makes it her mission to talk to someone. Maybe they don't know anything - or maybe they know something. Either way, she won't get those answers without asking.

"Excuse me." Catching up to the first unoccupied person she meets, she speaks up. "Do you know where we are?"

Getting Settled

From what she understands of her situation - and that feels like very little, even now - she has a lot to get accustomed to. Her walks brought her to the market, where her eyes were drawn to the different items on sale. Although she'd like to ask the shop keepers some questions, most of them seem preoccupied with their work. So instead Saya finds herself caught up in her window shopping.

That is... before her stomach grumbled loudly enough to startle even Saya. And then when she realized what happened- she placed a hand over her stomach as though that might quiet it.

She'd like to hope no one heard that but...

Haji had come to learn that people seemed to arrive certain times of month, but since Diva had come he had not paid much mind to the new arrivals, being new himself and with three people he needed to care for, one begrudgingly; the other two quite willingly, he just didn't allow himself time to wander while they were awake. Today he was off from one job and not due into the other until sunset. He had not asked Diva's permission, the girls knew him better so when their uncle as Kai had insisted Haji be called offered them lunch the girls were happily skipping along. Each holding on to one of his hands.

The cello case, as always was on his shoulder. But the two girls, with their hair cut so like Saya's and their smiles like Riku's, these girls had become his life. While his mistress slept her long years it was something to focus on, something to help time pass. Something he felt she would have wanted.

"Uncle Haji!" Hibiki called out. "Can we have cake!" She called up as he looked down at her, a smile, he could smile for the girls like he did for Saya.

"Only if you eat, Hibiki. You as well, Kanade." Both girls looked a little cross at being denied sweets first, but that was quickly forgotten when Hibiki noticed her "Mama! Mama cut her hair!" She called out as Haji's eyes went wide taking in the sight of the woman, that wasn't Diva... that wasn't Diva at all. His breath caught in his throat. "...Saya." The word came from his voice. She was awake... how was she awake? How was she here? Nothing made sense here.

"Auntie Saya?" Hibiki and Kanade spoke in unison, Kai and Haji spoke a lot about auntie Saya.

And then someone is holding out an apple to her. Azula looks more annoyed than friendly, but that's just her personality. Having come to Medietas, she's learning how to 'play nice' with people and be something other than a self-centred princess, but she's still not great at it.

"Here. Don't starve."

"Was more than that. It was a plague. S'what the adults called it. And the Alliance were the only folks who had medicine that could cure it." He had stolen some for Solo, but he was too late. He gripped at Shadow's shirt tighter, and it took a moment for him to realize it. Duo loosened his hold with a huff.

"Y'don't gotta run. I was just curious. S'all new and stuff." Gotta learn the ropes. And about horses...

"Not...in real life. In books, but that's it. We don't need 'em. We got cars and shuttles and the Alliance has mobile suits."

"Fame is interesting isn't it? I'm a singer as well." Among a few other things.

The bickering is amusing, but not quite relevant to the situation. "We might not be writing a news article but the questions are still relevant. If we don't know where are we, how can we figure where to go from here to get back home. If we don't know who took us or why they did so, how are we to know who to speak to and what to ask them or what the requirements are for us to leave. As for how, if they've spirited off into another world, as is my thinking, then how are we to know how to get back?"

What? [ Her face crumbles with her confusion. If this is true, then he doesn't know. He hasn't lived through the days, weeks, possibly even months, that she has. ] So this place brings us here, but they don't pull us from the same point? [ She sighs. ] Great.

"Ew." A plague sounded gross. The whole thing sounded terrible, but he wasn't gonna do that false sympathy thing like adults did.

"You had that at least. I lived in a pirate ship for a while but it was all broke." Nice enough a place to hide.

"Maybe later I'll show you ny sword."

[Fortunately for Anduin, Khadgar can see his message, though he's not sure just what the young man means by 'the alliance' as if it was a faction in and of itself. It takes him a moment to reply, he's only just figured out how to properly work the device, but he needs to remind himself what key does what at times. Who knew there was something harder to learn than magic?

Thus Anduin is treated to the sight of a man around the same age with dark hair and the beginnings of a small beard.]

I can see your message. What alliance are you from? I doubt there's anyone here from it, you're on an entirely different world now.

Really?

[That's a new enough idea to him that for a few seconds he looks quite confused. However, he's not immune to smiles from bonny lasses, and even though he really doesn't understand how that would even work, he finds himself smiling back at her.]

Wish there were more places that used that sort of thing around. Can't say as I'd mind pinpointing something because it smelled good. I'm afraid I've not noticed anything like that around here, though, miss...ah, sorry, I'd not caught your name.

[Anduin hadn't been aware of an option to allow him to see those he was messaging and the discovery comes as a pleasant surprise. He smiles a little.]

I know of Lordearon, [He had lived in that kingdom for most of his life after all, given he'd been raised in Dalaran.] but I was unaware it had created an alliance.

You're from Azeroth as well, then? [The planet, not the kingdom in this case.]

I'm Khadgar, formerly of the Kirin Tor, Guardian Novitiate.

[Since Medivh was calling him his apprentice here lately, he'd decided to accept that particular title back for the time being. Hopefully with his introduction, the other young man would introduce himself as well.]

Dorian Pavus | Dragon Age: Inquisition

[personal profile] manaveris 2016-06-30 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
T W O
The first step off the boat is like entering a new world; it's a internally tentative movement but when both feet are firmly placed upon the ground time falls back into focus where everything before was moving ever so slowly, like the delicate brush strokes of a painter. There are people, but no familiar faces in hand, they offer him two items; a map and something he has never seen before in his lifetime and it is no sending crystal. Dorian, a bit tense to say the least, holds tight to his staff and is quick to escape the situation with an out of character lack of conversation. He pockets the unknown device and folds up the map neatly before pocketing it a bit closer to his heart. The desire is to get away from the other confused minds that he arrived with, to figure the questions out on his own and that he had, in his own way with careful breaths.

Now he was stuck in a home, with a handful of familiar belongings and far from his tastes.

Though he should be appreciative, Dorian would rather have a library and a study than furnished apartments. Wrinkling his nose at some of the choice clothing in the wardrobe he immediately picked out the items he would never wear, folded them up and shoved them into a box, along with some perishables he would never touch, and a set of linens that were simply at curse upon humanity to hold such a pattern. Simply wanting to sit down with text's and tomes, he moved the collected unwanted out to the corner of the street, dropping it down with a satisfied huff. It might not be spring, but it was certainly spring cleaning and if there was anything he could do to keep his mind off this rather odd and unfortunate situation, it was to pick idly at the issues within his life currently and if anyone was to come upon or peek inside, it was very much that along with a great deal of grumbling and a twist of magic.

F O U R
A garden, that's what he needed, a garden and from here and there he could at least keep his hands busy. Without war, without battles, everything seemed so empty and with no conflict there was a great deal of ideal time and even Dorian, who every much did love his research, could only spend so many days not sleeping and delving through books and texts of the realm, brushing up on his own talent as a mage, and well exploring about the world that was more akin to pacing. It all felt as if it was lacking purpose, life all too simple for him. There was tension for lack of tension and one night he decided to take that tense out on the small garden of the starter home he was offered upon arrival. Granted he was not counting down how many weeks he had been there since then, but already stir crazy was a good word to add to his common vocabulary.

The world was not so farfetched as his own, but there where new things, new foods, new technologies that took time to accept like a breath of cold air, the cold that he very much hated but despite his vanity, Dorian was not ashamed to get his hands dirty when no one was looking.

Lights strung up within the simple and small plot of land, Dorian had managed to purchase a few plants, some aesthetic, some fruit baring, from the local markets and was currently arm deep into the dirt, digging up plots to place the items in. Some of the herbs he planted where medicinal, some where used in the preparation of food but every plant had it's purpose, as Dorian was meticulous such as. The lights within the night air call to the fact someone is home, and the sounds of rustling can be heard from those passing by, the back gate open and two large bags of plotting soil sitting at the entryway. It might not be his house, it might not belong to him but he wasn't told he could not bring some use to it besides a shelter. As long as he was busy, he could be content, content externally but on the inside he was screaming.

"I was part of a really big load of people dropped off here which seemed to kick things off. We've been getting more new people in ships throughout the later half of the month since then," Gabriel says with a shrug, sticking his hands in his pockets.

"I've been here for, um... three months at this point," Gabriel says after he finishes taking a moment to tally up the time.

[Anduin blinks at him for a moment. He knows who Archmage Khadgar is because anyone knows who he is. He's a hero of Azeroth and one of the greatest mages to ever live. He just never expected he could ever be so young. Anduin straightens himself a little.]

It's my honor to meet you, Archmage. I've heard stories, of course, but I never thought I would get to meet you in person. I'm Anduin Wrynn, Prince of Stormwind.

[King now, he guesses, but he doesn't want to think about that. Not now. Not when he hasn't dealt with losing his father again.]

Whistling softly to himself, Cricket came upon Dorian and his garden. He hesitated on the edges of it watching Dorian in the garden. It's sort of relaxing in a way. A small spirit, about the size of a humming bird of indistinct shape, flickered around Taliesin and then darted over to check Dorian out.
manaveris: (❖ they won't know who we are)

[personal profile] manaveris 2016-06-30 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
What he could be muttering to himself was slightly muted as there was no one really around to speak to. His hands remained busy, pushing and pulling at the soil, taking up the roots of weeds and placing them aside in a small basket to the side. Even though it was the evening, it was warm, and the small lights illuminated just enough to see what he was doing. Already focused enough, Dorian exhaled heavily and leaned both of his palms onto the dirt, looking down. He felt sick, the ordeal made little sense, even though he had been here for awhile and there were familiar faces it only smoothed the wound of confusion just in a minor manner.

"What have you been doing with you're life recently, Dorian?" The sarcastic, accented voice murmured as he shoved the dirt downward, pulling it out sharply and reaching for a plant of mint. "Oh you know, a bit of gardening between world shifts--" And then he paused when he saw the flickering out of the corner of his eye, noting the movement and pausing quietly, his mouth shutting and looking towards the small shape, blinking several times. There were strange things to see within his home land, but this was new and akin to some of the creatures he could summon with his own skill in necromancy.

"I'm either seeing things or you're here to tell me, how much space should I leave between the mint and the black cohosh."
cricketsong: (laughing smile)

[personal profile] cricketsong 2016-06-30 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Listening to him, Cricket had to smile, but he hid it behind his hand. However a laugh escaped him when the spirit flickered between the mint and a short distance several times before bobbing rapidly. Clearly it understood him enough to give its opinion on the matter.

Pushing himself off a tree he walked into the light, making himself visible.

"You're not seeing things," he said in a light Welsh accent. "Or at least, you are actually seeing things. Aisling actually there.

[He blinks a couple times in apparent surprise. At first it was due to the title he'd been addressed by, then the name and title the young man had given to him. Give him a moment deal with both things and silently put some pieces together.]

Your father, would he be Varian Wrynn?

[If that was indeed the case, this would be the first time he's ever actually encountered a temporal anomaly like this. Though the title made him wonder if the Kirin Tor took him back into its fold, somehow forgiving him his transgressions and the fact he'd forsaken his vows to them.]

Finally her wandering eyes stopped, widening at the sight of the three before her. She was certain someone here would know her and could explain what was going on, but she'd held out against the idea of being able to see anyone she knew. Her heart is beating wildly, yet slowly she approaches them, almost as though in a trance. And then, it's simply broken, the short-haired girl kneeling in front of the girls with a warm smile. "I'm so glad you're safe..." They were so big now... to see them living happily like this-- Saya's heart was filled to the brim. She wrapped her arms around the girl's shoulders and hugged them tight for a long moment before she stood up.

It wasn't so easy for her to meet Haji's eyes. If she did, she felt like she might burst. When she swallowed, it was because she was holding back tears. Happy ones, but also... filled with guilt.

Gently, she reached out and placed a hand on his arm. He was real... just as real as the girls. "Haji..." There were a lot of things she wanted to say. No-- that she should say. But all the words just got jumbled up in her her. She couldn't do anything but gently curl her fingers around the fabric there, pinching it between her fingers. It was selfish, acting this way. But then-- she'd always been like this with him.

Saya stares at the apple for a short moment, before accepting it with a sheepish smile and an awkward laugh. "Thank you. Although it's probably not as serious as my stomach makes it sound." Most people stopped trying to figure out where she put all the food she ate-- or why someone who really lived off of blood still ate so much food.

The creature moved between the two spots where the plats where resting and Dorian gave few nods of approval, that was until he heard the sound of laughter and squinted at the tiny beast before looking over his shoulder at the man who approached him. Ah, someone sneaking around him, well that was rare, normally people learned to avoid him until more recently. Without his past and his peoples history for the world to see here, it was easier but this man was in his garden, even though he left the gate unhinged. Fine, it was likely his own fault.

Dusting his hands off a few times he stood up from where he was kneeling and turned around to fully face the man, humming quietly and giving a small smirk. "How sneaky of you, spying on men gardening." A small, playful roll of his eyes and he canted his hip slightly, crossing his arms across his chest. His entire tone was sarcastic, not aiming to insult but simply enjoy.

"It's name is Aisling? How quaint, I like it. It has a noble tone to it and might I add your little friend is far more helpful in their advice then laughing in the darkness."
cricketsong: (side smirk)

[personal profile] cricketsong 2016-06-30 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I didn't mean to spy," Cricket said, giving a slight almost courtly bow. People liked it when he did that. "I was just watching and didn't want to bother you. You were quite intent."

Aisling up and down some more, clearly agreeing with Dorian.

"Traitor," he tossed half-heartedly at the spirit. "Yes, it's name is Aisling. It's a spirit spirit."
