Saphira's jaw set and her gaze darted away for a moment. Disquieting was an understatement, though she wasn't even sure there was a human word to describe how distressing and horrifying this whole thing was. To have gone from her magnificent self to... an ordinary human being, it was deplorable.

Perhaps she might have found being a human somewhat bearable if she'd had Eragon at her side but as it was, she had yet to even find out if he was there as well. He was her other half, part of her soul -- she was not certain how she was suppose to live without him if it turned out he wasn't there.

That thought was enough to almost make her become hysterical again and the only thing that had her grasping onto her sanity was that he might be there and she had to be able to function if she was to find out.

She exhaled slowly and swung her attention back to the creature. "Map? I have seen them before but I have never had to read one, nor read anything really." Eragon had done that. He'd read the maps and whatever else needed reading. What use did a dragon have of such things?!

Though perhaps she should have paid more mind when Eragon had done those things. Hindsight was a pain.

"What are you?" she blurted out and her cheeks promptly reddened. She had more manners than that and she lowered her head, a little sheepishly. "I should have asked that differently. I don't truly have much experience talking directly to others."
