Mostly, she can hide it. Most of the time, people might see the look but they don't ask because they're not sure they want to know the answer. It's just sort of easier to avoid that sort of thing, on both sides.

But every once in awhile she comes across someone who knows the look and who asks about it. Or pushes about it like Blade did. He had made her confront some of what she was feeling but only because he wanted her to use those feelings, that grief, as a weapon and a shield to keep herself strong. Or maybe he had some deep down agenda to make her deal with her issues but she really doesn't think so. He really seemed more like a 'push it down and fight through it' sort of guy than someone who spends a lot of time searching his feelings. She could be wrong though.

"No, I didn't." She shakes her head as she meets the look and sees the sad, apologetic smile. It isn't something she talks about much but it's harder to push down these days. That and she knows King is being open, so maybe it works?

"Not in the way you're thinking." She continues on then. "I didn't serve in the army or anything. I was part of a cell of people that fought a different kind of fight."

She hesitates. "Against vampires."
