Hanging around the dock when the boat docks to see who the new arrivals are is a new tactic for Balthazar. There seems to be a lot of people coming here from back home, and this seems like a good way to avoid surprises, both pleasant and unpleasant, creeping up on him.

Today, though, there's no one he knows from home, so when Hawkeye tries to catch the attentions of one of the locals as they move on to greet the other new arrivals, Balthazar takes pity on him. Maybe it's just been a good day, maybe it's the military greens - he's a soldier, too, of an entirely different sort - whatever it is, he turns around and leans lazily against the rail with an easy smile.
