Test Drive

Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon. Or, attend one of the many block parties!

3. Lost!: Somehow you got yourself turned around and confused and getting back to where you want to be is looking impossible.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

"I'll tell you this then. It's not a story. Though, I'm sure it's as bad or worse as the stories say." A shadow crossed his own face that had been previously just as lazy, if bewildered.

Rhys frowns, his whole demeanour shifting into something that borders on intimidating. "It's. A. Story. One that has no place here and doesn't need to be elaborated on further."

He knows as well as Rory that it's not, but pulling the spectre of the Clutching Grove into somewhere that seems to be untouched by it seems like a deeply bad idea to him. He shakes his head, the smile returning. "Let's talk of better things. What's magic in this world of yours like, then?"

"Oh, don't worry. I'm quite happy to drop it."

There's only two of them on the island - three now - that know of the grove. Best to keep it that way.

"What's it like...? Hm... everyone has it. We all have our knacks. I'm a seventh son of a seventh son so I'm Lucky. We get it from our gods though. We worship them and in return they give us magic. Symbiotic relationship."

"Everyone? That must be... interesting." Rhys couldn't imagine everyone bargaining with the spirits all the time, but it sounded like it was a more streamlined system. "We haven't got gods of that sort at home, but we do have spirits that we deal with."

"I suppose? I mean, it's perfectly normal to me. The idea that only some people have magic, no one has magic or people don't know about magic... that's interesting," Rory said.

"Spirits?"

"I take your meaning, the idea of normal is pretty subjective when it comes down to it." Rhys shrugs. Everyone in the world striking bargains willy-nilly is a prospect that gives him hives. He's so glad it's not the case.

"Creatures of magical essence that enter our world from the Realms. We call the less powerful ones spirits and the more powerful ones fairies, though the more powerful they are, the rarer it is to see them on our side of the gates."

"Oh, not the dead then." He rubbed his nose absently. "Though that reminds me. There are three others from my world here. A necromancer demigod by the name of Theo, my twin sister Grace - who is currently half my age - and my five-year-old niece Ceilidh who is going to be really unhappy and stab you with a nail for not knowing who she is. You've...our you...? has made an impact on all our lives. You're Theo's boss."

"Well, we don't have to tell them I'm here," Rhys pointed out. This sounded like exactly the kind of thing he'd prefer to avoid- he didn't know these people, and if his presence was just going to hurt them, he would rather not.
crowschild: (Rory side look)

"I'm not going to lie to Grace. I don't give a rat's ass about Sammeth. They're adults anyway and will get over it. This place is pretty small so you're bound to run into them eventually."
thewanderer: (got to be fucking with me)

[personal profile] thewanderer 2016-06-23 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Rhys shrugged. "Well, I've been stabbed with worse than iron nails, so I'm sure I can manage. I'd rather not, but I won't ask you to keep things from your family."

"Most people would rather not be stabbed with iron nails. Just on general principle."

Most because people do have their kinks.

"Keeping things from family never ends well." His jaw tightened briefly. "However I'm not telling Sammeth. He can find out for himself."

A bit of gleefulness flickered in his eyes.
