Test Drive

Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon. Or, attend one of the many block parties!

3. Lost!: Somehow you got yourself turned around and confused and getting back to where you want to be is looking impossible.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

The clothes were strange, but easily dismissible as something that could be investigated later. The man before him hadn't been the only one he'd seen in such weird garments. It was more the uneasy feeling he caused. It reminded him a bit of how it felt to be in the presence of the Fel.

There was a subtle wariness in his eyes as he took a step back. "Yes. You're versed in magic?"

Internally, Theo sighs and keeps his body posture as harmless as possible, his hands out and visible. He's seen this reaction before from some people in the City. It amused him somewhat - when they don't try and attack him.

"Some sorts, yes. My brother-in-law has been working on creating portals." And he's a necromancer, but that doesn't seem to be the smart thing to mention. "However he's yet to have any success at creating them. There's a lovely splotch of purple on the office ceiling that can't be removed no matter what we try."

The fact that the man in front of him seemed to be friendly despite the feeling he caused, he relaxed slightly. Though he was still ready to go on the defensive if there was need of it.

"He might be trying to go about them the wrong way. Is he being taught by a mage or teaching himself?"

It's not really something he can help. Being a powerful necromancer and the son of an ancient death god is going to leave its mark on one's essence.

"He's figuring it out mostly by himself with some texts he's managed to get ... somehow... from fairie. He's an utter genius when it comes to ritual magic though," Theo said. "The fair folk are the only ones who are capable of creating portals where I'm from."

The gods possibly can, but if so they've never let humanity know and they most certainly haven't let Theo know, even if he lived with two of them.

"From fairie?" The name was unfamiliar as a location. The only fairie he knew of were small dragons.

"Are you from here or did you come in on the boat as well?" Perhaps he could get a few new answers about this place he found himself in. The only method he knew of to cross worlds was the portal he'd seen in the book and in person being built by the orcs and he certainly couldn't recall passing through one prior to his arrival on the boat.

"Yeah. I did, which was a lot more dignified way of entering than the last place like this I ended up in." He fell into a fountain.

As for fairie... "Fairie is a sort of ... plane that exists parallel to the mortal world."

He held up his hands and put the two of them together.

"There are points where they intersect, which is where standing stones are often found or at crossroads, though they can show up in other places depending on sometimes really random conditions. Like when a black cat walks by a doorway on a full moon. It's a plane of almost pure magic and the beings that live there are known as the fey who are also almost pure magic," he said. "And since they are so magical they're capable of breaching the boundaries between our worlds in places where there aren't natural intersection points."

"I think I understand what you mean." It sounded like something he recalled either reading in a book or hearing about via a lesson in the history of magic, though it had been called the Emerald Dream and not Fairie.

"There's a place back home like that by a different name. If I recall right, the magic within it is more akin to nature magic than arcane."

"It wouldn't surprise me. Fairie is the sort of place that would have multiple names for things." Seeing as how the man appeared to be relaxed, he shoved his hands into his pants pockets.

"Though I'n not sure about the nature versus arcane magics as they're fairly well blended where I'm from."

"In Azeroth, the two are decidedly different. Mages work with arcane magics and druid's work with nature." And then there were the priests and paladins who worked with magic that came from the Light.

He had relaxed for the most part since despite what he felt like, the man before him was obviously not currently a threat to him and Khadgar had decided not to hold it against him. Least until the stranger proved him wrong on the non-threat issue anyway, then he'd act swiftly to defend himself.

"I'm Khadgar." He offered after a moment as he realized introductions had yet to be given. Since he obviously wasn't home, he doubted his affiliations or former affiliations mattered much and thus simply left them off for now.

"I've heard that before. Magic from the gods, magic from... magic... and magic from nature being different things," Theo said.

And yes, technically Theo is not a threat. He's hard to kill, but he has no offensive magics since it takes a while to make a zombie or skeleton. It's not something you can pull out of a hat and most people wanting to harm him won't let him take the few minutes necessary to raise things.

"Theo. Nice to meet you."
