Test Drive

Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!
You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!
How To Play:
→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!
Possible Scenarios:
1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!
2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon. Or, attend one of the many block parties!
3. Lost!: Somehow you got yourself turned around and confused and getting back to where you want to be is looking impossible.
4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!
Jaenelle Angelline | The Black Jewels | Arrival
Jaenelle pulls open the door, a smile touching her lips as she thinks about all the delicious things she's going to make Lucivar cook for her (she'd tried cooking once and blew up the entire kitchen at SaDiablo Hall. She's been banned since then) but when she steps through the door and opens her eyes, it isn't her cabin that she sees. Oh no.
Jaenelle had done this as a child. Without an understanding of basic Craft and a reservoir of power too deep to be controlled, she'd often disappeared and reappeared somewhere else without much thought. After she'd gotten a little older, Jaenelle had learned how to deliberately go somewhere but this seems like a hearkening back to her younger days. It appears to be a dock of some sort, with people milling around, and Jaenelle is suddenly aware that her clothes are torn and her palms are bloodstained. She self-consciously brushes a hand over her hair, hoping to tame it a little, and tries to force herself to be a little more human and polite than she particularly wants to be at the moment.
Like as not, these docks are still in some part of Kaeleer. As a child, she'd been asked not to travel around Terreille and she'd kept to that. This place seems too warm to be Hell so it must still be Kaeleer, which means she's only a thought away from home if she needs to get away. She doesn't think that is going to be an issue; the people here seem warm and friendly even if they are landen and don't wear jewels. She senses some power here, great power, but it isn't anything like the power she's used to.
"Maybe there's other ways of doing magic than using jewels," Jaenelle says, half to herself. If that's the case, she can't wait to tell the Coven about this place and help probe the mysteries of it with them. She thinks that would be an excellent way to spend a day or two. She strides up to the dock attendant, announces herself, and walks away with a handheld device and a housing assignment.
"Now, it's time to eat," she says, fiddling with the little device to try and find a tavern or something. Witches always burned off anything they ate and then some doing magic; Jaenelle is worse than most about not eating enough to keep up her strength.
no subject
Ratchet was on his way to check the docks for arrivals when he spotted the rather lost looking young woman who had the air of a fresh arrival.
"Ah, excuse me. May I be of assistance? You've probably just arrived, I believe?"
no subject
"Only just," Jaenelle says, assessing him. He's male, yes, but she has a sense of the Healer from him and that isn't possible. It isn't a caste that men can have. Then again, she knows not one but two male Black Widows. Hmm.
There's also the matter of not knowing how he has power. It feels different. "And I'm starving."
Re: Jaenelle Angelline | The Black Jewels | Arrival
He's an odd looking fellow; wearing jeans with patches on the knees, a blue t-shirt that read 'what part of [an arcane symbol] don't you understand? It's only ritual magic', a jean vest and red scarf. Never mind the pointy ears, tattoo on his face and general mad look about him.
Re: Jaenelle Angelline | The Black Jewels | Arrival
"Oh? What ways are those?" Jaenelle has always been curious about things, especially things that people don't know about or understand, the things that are buried and considered myths. She is Dreams Made Flesh. She doesn't think there's anything that isn't real somewhere.
"Tell me?"
Re: Jaenelle Angelline | The Black Jewels | Arrival
He flicked a hand out and a flicker of flame appeared which shaped itself into a phoenix. Well, a fiery bird - but for Alec it was a phoenix. Some of his own in born talent.
"Learning of spells, which requires years of studying, learning the rules and languages, what sort of ingredients to use to get what sort of effects you want, finding the right tools of the trade. Making deals with creatures of power. Learning how to tap into power sources like leylines... through music and poetry..."
Re: Jaenelle Angelline | The Black Jewels | Arrival
"I've never been good at Craft," Jaenelle admits, laughing airily. "The big things, certainly, but I've never been very good at anything that requires a measure of finesse. I'm learning, though!"
She's hopeful that someday, in the future, she might be able to do those simple things better.
Re: Jaenelle Angelline | The Black Jewels | Arrival
Alec knows that he'll never be subtle. It's a flaw of his.
