Test Drive

Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon. Or, attend one of the many block parties!

3. Lost!: Somehow you got yourself turned around and confused and getting back to where you want to be is looking impossible.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

So many frequented the docks when new ships came in, watching for anyone they might know to possibly arrive. Derek had never been one of them. It wasn't for lack of people that he might know but the naive concept of that maybe if he didn't look, no one he cared about would be stuck in this world with him.

As far as places to be stuck in, Medietas wasn't half bad. He'd seen and experienced worse crime. Living conditions were more than adequate. Derek wasn't happy but it had little to do with the islands or even being abducted. A part of him had been hollowed out before his arrival. Almost two months had passed since the involuntary relocation and his heart continued heavy over the loss of his partner. Friend.

Emily was more than either description but he didn't realize that until after losing her. A few of his current co-workers knew a bit of the burden he carried but only his partner knew the whole truth, and that had only been the case because of a nightmare involving the final minutes with the brunette had stirred Derek from sleep at said partner's couch. It was his first thought at seeing Prentiss in the distance--wishing Nick was there to tell him it wasn't some hallucination.

People had hallucinated from the rabbit bites. Maybe Derek had missed some kind of... something. He swallowed thickly only to find his mouth completely dry. Color drained from his face and he could swear his heart stopped. Everything was silent around him as he walked toward the woman who turned away just as he had seen her face. He couldn't believe it. Wouldn't believe it. Not without confirmation. He heard her speak and felt himself trembling.

"It...it can't be," he hoarsely uttered, his voice filled with all the emotion overwhelming him. If sight and sound wasn't enough, Derek had been downwind and caught her scent as his eyes searched for her to turn around again. "Emily."

Firion's cheeks colored brighter and hotter when she, he?, took his hand. But he saw her jump back a bit, her hold on his hand wavering and he knew this would be a moment that Maria or have probably scolded him. It wasn't like that!

He stammered. "I-I apologize! It's nothing that y-you're thinking off! It's just..."

How does one even broach a subject like this? He couldn't tell a lie to save his life but nor did he want to offend his friend. Because this was still Cecil, no matter the gender. He sighed and bit his lip. "Last I saw you, Cecil, you were much taller and quite easily masculine. You responded to 'he' and so... well, last I saw you, you were male. So, please, forgive me, but I'm simply very confused."

He knew Maria would have told him to just speak his mind, and Firion was generally careful with his words, even if his naivete sometimes got the better of him.

"They complained they couldn't tip you?" That seemed silly, but she doesn't exactly understand this custom. If you enjoyed the minstrel's work, you rewarded him with gifts and gold. It was a bit odd to just toss the coins into a case.

"Do you play anything for people to dance to?" Not that it has stopped her before. She had spun about and twirled as he played earlier, but Kathryn looked for any opportunity to dance. "Are you a bard?"

"I have never seen magic like this." It shouldn't be possible. Only nightmares could create this sort of world, nightmares or strange dreams. "Multiple times and places?" Even her mind couldn't create that. "Who are you?"

She didn't mean to snap, but her nerves are severely strained. It wasn't just this place that was exhausting her. She had spent so long in sanctuary, uncertain about her husband's safety or even if she would be forcibly removed and arrested. Her mother had been tried for a witch, she had been forced to give birth without a midwife. All of this and the strange world, it left her frazzled.

"No one has spoken of why we are captured?"

Conner nodded. "It's a strange thing to me, too."

He shook his head.

"I can, yes. Do you like fast things, or more slow dances?" Then he chuckled, eying her, curious now. She was an odd one, maybe from an older time?

"I... don't think so? I just love music, and sharing it."

"Gabriel. There's several here for who magic wasn't real for before now, so you're not alone in going 'what, what?'," he says, giving her a mildly sympathetic look. "And you are?"

[personal profile] heir_to_melusina 2016-06-04 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
She knew magic, she could cast and divine, but it was unwise to reveal it. Her mother had only recently survived a trial, accused of witchcraft and dark magic. Elizabeth had no desire to be placed in a ducking stool or burned at the stake.

"Elizabeth...Queen Elizabeth of England." She added the last part hastily, almost forgetting in her shock.

Hmm. Not a redhead, so must be married to one of the Plantagenets rather than be Elizabeth I. A quick look and--ah. He gives her a knowing look.

"I know that name. If you visit the library and investigate the history books, I'm sure you'll find books about the Cousins' War, later known as the War of the Roses. Just think carefully about how much you want to know about what happens between the time you're from and when they finally come to an end."

[personal profile] heir_to_melusina 2016-06-04 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"You do?" It shouldn't be a surprise. After marrying Edward, all of England and Europe knew who she was. Perhaps it was the mention of history books and the possibility of know how it ended. She hadn't been able to divine what was to come, save for small glimpses of images. To have solid answers, it was tempting.

"It does end?" She hopes for nothing more. Worrying over her husband's fate, knowing that as she bids him farewell, it could be the last she sees of him, it was becoming too much. "All I want is for our son to be secure on his throne."
lotsoflaughs: (Sigh)

[personal profile] lotsoflaughs 2016-06-04 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Gabriel sighs and looks at her. "Unfortunately, no. It might be best if you don't give into temptation and read it. I have no idea if you'll be able to change things or if you even should, if you get sent back home. Time can be a delicate thing to interfere with. Best not to go down that rabbit hole."

He extends his arm for her to take. "We should probably see where you're to stay, Highness. I can promise that your accommodations won't be what you've become used to, since they're not meant for royalty. But, if they're anything like my own house, they'll be roomy enough with multiple floors."

[personal profile] heir_to_melusina 2016-06-04 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Having that information at hand and to ignore it, it seemed almost impossible. Just like magic, it could be beneficial and aiding her in achieving what she wanted. But too much power or knowledge, it could lead to danger. He was right in warning her, a voice of reason she needed.

She accepted his arm, glancing down at the device. "I doubt I will have any complaints." Save for being away from her family. "I have only just come from sleeping on stone floors."

"Well, you'll definitely get to sleep in a bed instead," he says, also looking down at her comm to see where she's supposed to stay. "There's five islands, each with a different type of environment. The southern-most one, which I'm on, is basically desert, another one is rather beach-like, another has forests, a forth has mountains. And then there's this one, which is mostly built up."

So plenty to choose from. "There'll be money in an account to tide you over for the first month as you get settled in. I should probably introduce you to a noblewoman I know sometime later. She's also been in the position of having to adapt to things being different from what she's used to and needing to learn how to use modern-day things. So she'll know where you're coming from."

Duo Maxwell || Gundam Wing: Episode Zero

[personal profile] alive_through_luck 2016-06-04 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Scenario 1:

This place. This was--Duo didn't have the words to describe just what was going on or where he was or how the hell he'd gotten there. One minute he was in an Alliance cell, overhearing some of the soldiers talking about how he made a deal with the devil. The next, he was riding around on a boat on these big white puffs ("Clouds," he reminded himself). It was just...weird as hell!

When the boat docked and he was finally able to get off the damn thing, the first thing given to him was a map. There were things marked on it, even a sort of "You are here!" thing where the docks were located. Duo didn't say anything to them, not even a thank you, and pulled his cap down over his eyes before taking off, his braid bouncing behind him. He didn't need a map! He could find things on his own! They didn't know him, what he had gone through, what he could do. Forget them!

He rounded a building corner as he threw the map behind him. Time to explore a bit.

Scenario 3:

So much for figuring things out on his own. Duo Maxwell had somehow gotten himself completely and utterly lost. Not that he was about to admit that to ANYONE. This place was just as big as the colony, so it shouldn't have been that big of a deal to get rid of his map.

Yeah, but he had lived his life on the colony. He had spent so many years learning the layout of the streets on his home colony. This was all...foreign. Different. New. He didn't know where a safe place to sleep was. He didn't know where to get food here. He could probably get away with picking pockets, but what good would that do? He thought he saw a food store a few streets back. Maybe he could take a few things.

The child in a cassock stopped in an alley and side as he leaned back against the building. He slid down to the ground, allowing himself to sit and bring his knees up to his chest. Hiding his face, he sniffled. He missed the Church. He missed not knowing when his next meal was coming. He missed his room. He missed Sister playing with his hair. He missed Father talking with him about whatever he wanted. But it wouldn't be there if he ever managed to get back. It was gone...

Duo lifted his head just long enough to wipe his eyes before he buried his face against his knees again. He would just stay there until he calmed down enough to go back out.

[personal profile] orions_shadow 2016-06-05 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Shadow on the other hand, didn't need a map. If he didn't just portal his way into an area he as familiar with, he could leap up and climb to a high ground. Then there were his animal senses which made it difficult to get lost.

Why he was prowling around here was anyone's guess. He has taken a liking to checking out crates and shipment containers and looting them for stuff if he found anything. Old habits die hard.

Now, his incredible sense of smell pickes up on something interesting. The smell of stress. Well, that's something worth investigating. When he neared, he could hear the sniffles and whatever other noises the kid was making.

He didn't get any closer than this, probably not a good idea to scare the kid.

"Hey."
alive_through_luck: (There!)

[personal profile] alive_through_luck 2016-06-05 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
The sound of another voice caused Duo to quickly lift his head to find who had spoken. Seeing a black lion on two legs...and knowing it could talk...

Duo yelped in surprise and tried to scoot away from the feline fellow. His back hit a large trash bin. His blue-violet eyes were wide, and his hat had fallen to the ground where he had been sitting previously.

"What the hell?!" To say he was shocked would be an understatement. Honestly, since when did animals talk?! "What are you? What're you doin' talking?"

After all, animals didn't talk on the colony. They never talked in the stories that Father Maxwell and Sister Helen told him. Don't take offense, little lion man. The young human thing hadn't quite finished adjusting to his new home....

Can't say that surprised him in the slightest, this kid's reaction. He just lowers himself, sitting on his haunches like a regular cat. He just waits til at least the kid has the chance to stop and think for a second.

"I ain't somethin that's gonna hurtcha, thats for starts. Why I can talk is that I used to be human. Everything else is a long ass story."

He peers down at the hat and hops over to pick it up, then offers it to him.

"What's with the tears now?"

Merlin stared, then sighed.

"Oh Bloody hell." He rose, and made his way toward her, bracing himself to learn what new fresh madness the world of Medietas had decided to throw at him.

"Greetings, milady Aphrodite. And welcome to the Isles of Medietas." He spoke the words in flawless ancient Greek, his eyes never leaving hers even as he executed a courtly bow.

It actually took until the cat started talking again before Duo was calm enough not to start throwing stuff around him. He still was on edge, though. He didn't know the cat. He didn't trust the cat. When the hat was offered to him, he shifted enough that he could run if he had to, and took the hat without a thank you.

The braided bitty slammed the hat back on his head, but stopped when the cat asked about the crying. Duo almost said he hadn't been crying, and even opened his mouth to do as much...

But that would be lying. And if there was one thing Duo never did, it was lie. So he closed his mouth, deciding to simply glare at the cat, even with his eyes and nose slightly pink.

"Why d'you care? You don't know me."

He usually doesn't meet people as young as this kid, and he was aware of the fact that most people don't exactly fawn over half grown lion cubs like they do kittens or puppies. Well okay then, don't thank him. He wrinkles his nose and grunts softly, but just otherwise waits for him to answer.

Why care? Well...

"Cos' why not? Why do I need a reason? I'm a freakin' lion. I don't need a reason for much' anything. Sides, you're a kid. I'd rather help you than some grown up."

She'd left without a word, leaving the briefing when everyone's attention had been elsewhere. As much as she hated to admit it, but she knew Ian. Knew what he was capable of, and knew what he had been up to. Emily didn't doubt that he would stick to what he had said; if she warned her team or told anyone, he would kill them. It wasn't something that she had wanted to drag everyone else in to as he had made that clear. And she had made it clear that the only thing that mattered to her was her own life- even if that hadn't been the truth. It had been taken to his turf, and while the situation had not gone as planned with the car, she had used what had come up, and while she had been stalling for time, Emily had no idea how it had gone from that position to this one.

She'd ran through the obvious list of choices, ticking each one off, until all that was left was the impossible. No one had been able to provide her with a better answer as to what had happened and the first night had been a restless one, although who could blame her. A strange place, knowing that Doyle might be out there... Mentally going over each and every detail again and again as the minutes had clicked away. She had needed to be doing something though, not just sitting there in the house that had been provided to her, passing the hours in thought.

Yet while there was a part of Emily that did still expect Ian to show up, saying hello love in a way that was anything but loving, when her name was spoken, she knew it wasn't him. Her head jerked, surprise and confusion written across her face as her mouth opened, although slowly closed. Derek. It was all there, flooding back, already so close to the surface. Emily knew that she had been off and that they had all felt it, yet she had brushed it off. In the end, she had left- left them all in an effort to protect them. "How- when- You're here?"

Anastasia, The Red Queen | OUAT: In Wonderland.

[personal profile] gameboards 2016-06-05 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Scenario 1.

There were a great many wondrous things in Wonderland, by it's very nature. There were turtle islands, and there were marshmallow bogs, and of course clothes horses, but what one didn't see were ships that floated and landed in places that were definitely not the kingdom that she had been ruling over for longer than she cared to remember. Hands tightened into fists at her sides, hidden beneath the long red velvet of her dress. She was still wearing what she had been back at home, which was a relief, and one that grew exponentially as she reached up and brushed her fingers over her blond bun, and of course the crown that acted as an anchor for it. Those rubies and diamonds had cost her everything; she wasn't about to lose them because she'd ended up on an odd boat.

Maps and odd boxes did not answers make, so Anastasia brushed past those people and looked around for someone who could give her a real solution on how to return home. Her voice was haughty but soft and with an upper class British accent. "You there, darling," there is no note of anything personal in that term of endearment. "Can you tell me how one goes about returning home? I do have some terribly important plans that I need to be getting on with."

Given some of the nobility whom Alric knew, her reaction could scarcely be called snapping, and aside from his surprise, he took it very much in stride. Once he'd acclimated to the notion that was she was in fact a queen, he seemed quite undaunted--although that much more deliberate and polite. His tone, he kept refined and respectful, but gentle, well aware that it was all quite a lot to take in.

"Indeed not, Your Majesty. I have sought audience with the king and queen of this place, when the opportunity has arise, although I fear they have been... ...singularly enigmatic. Otherwise, we have been left very much to our own devices: provided shelter and basic needs, but expected also to seek employment. The people--that is, the natives of these islands--have been most gracious hosts, but I fear they seem to know no more than we do. On the rare instances in which... trouble has arisen, a number of us have proven committed to protecting those in need."

He frowned, then glanced at Anders with an eyebrow raised. Did he look like he was a Templar anymore? He had ditched everything that reminded him of that life, though with a sword, he most likely still looked like one in Anders' mind. "I. Am not. A. Templar," he ground out, becoming every inch the Commander of the Inquisition's forces. All that was missing was his leonine helmet. "I left the Order." Through choice, to become something better.

"I married for love, nothing else. Her name is Lady Nadia Trevelyan." The expression that suddenly crossed his face couldn't be missed for anything except love. Though if he'd heard anything of the Inquisition, he'd know exactly who she was.

Cullen frowned as he took a step back and studied her carefully. "No. You haven't. You've recently attended the Exalted Council. We were on our way back from it this morning." Which was when he saw her, like everyone morning since... well.
