Test Drive

Welcome to Medietas! Are you interested in joining the game? Do you have an old muse you want to dust off? Are you looking for a place to voice test a brand new character and would like to do so in our little island setting? Well, you've come to the right place!

You all know what to do but if you don’t, just follow the instructions and HAVE FUN!

How To Play:

→ Comment with the character you’d like to test drive. Don’t forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario, or start your own!
→ Tag around!

Possible Scenarios:

1. New Arrival: You have just arrived on the island of Medietas, in the city of Aerilon via a floating boat with people you may or may not know. Of course, you can't help wondering what the heck is going on here, or how you even got on the boat in the first place. But as soon as the vessel docks you are greeted by some lovely locals who offer you a map and a communications device before leaving you to your own. You probably have questions and there seems to be a number of people there already who may or may not have those answers. Talk to them! Or, get on the network and introduce yourself!

2. Getting Settled: So, you've arrived, but now there's five islands you should get yourself acquainted with. Meet your starter home neighbors! Start your new job! Check out the market on Aerilon. Or, attend one of the many block parties!

3. Lost!: Somehow you got yourself turned around and confused and getting back to where you want to be is looking impossible.

4. Wild Card: Got something else in mind and want to create your own scenario? Go for it!

And the nearest person is this punk... he is also only slightly human. He turs his head to the 'beauty' and gives her this strange look, confused as all hell.

"What am I supposed to do about it?"

And who to catch you in the act of the cat abuse, but another cat? He leaps down from an above platform and growls at the man.

"What do you think you're doin'?" Never mind that the cat seems to like John, he's only paying attention to his being an asshole to the poor thing.

This is unacceptable.

"Oh, I see. Basic magic. How rude of me to assume otherwise." Is Tyrion's wry response. "I see ... what are the Norse, and who is Thor and the Avengers?"

"Compared to some of the places we've slept, yes, milord." Podrick had never had such a space to himself though.

As to a position for Tyrion, Podrick swallowed. "I... do not know. There are many jobs available, but... frankly milord, I do not know what your skills are, outside of smarts and inspiration. It is possible that someone smarter than i and more conversant with the way jobs like those here work could help you, but I will do my best to assist you."

Podrick nodded. "There are many goods here that are like and yet unlike our own, and not all bad, but not all good, either."

"I guess I'll have to look into it." He would love to say he would find something easy to do, but really... he was a cop. And a dad, too, over all. He would likely always be those things.

"Someone let you have unlimited coffee, and the islands are still standing? I'm impressed." He poked the wall near them. "This place must be sturdier than i thought." He teased her lightly, eyes on her, warm with love and laughter.

Henry laughed. "I meant, the magic is in the quill and the ink, not me. It's actually really powerful and specific but it's basic to me because I just have to drag the quill across the page. I guess it's more complicated to explain than experience."

Henry pondered the questions then realised he has the answer upstairs. He said nothing just grinned as he ran out of the room and came back with a box. He thumbed through them until he found one his Avengers comics and handed it to Tyrion. "That's Thor. He's part of the Avengers, which is a group of superheroes trying to help save the world. Thor is based of the Norse mythology as well. The Norse are a group of people from my world's history."

That...actually hit a little too close to home for Duo. The lying to make you comply. Wasn't that exactly what the Alliance had originally done to gain control of the Earth Sphere and the colonies? Told the people of Earth that the colonies needed to be wrangled in for there to be peace just to have permission to use force...

Duo's steps actually slowed some, even as he reached out for the lion's t-shirt. He couldn't help his mind going back to the ruins of the church, to Father Maxwell, to Sister Helen. His grip tightened some as he managed a quiet "Yeah" through gritted teeth.

Adults were liars. The only ones who didn't lie were dead. Sniffling again, Duo spoke again.

"Like back on the colony. The Alliance did that to take over the colonies. S'just a hellhole now." Out of the mouths of babes?

Shad might disagree with that extreme. Some adults did tell the truth and some times they were nice, but he found that was rarely the case. He would rather hang out with those of his own age than the drama of adulthood.

The hand on his shoulder makes him stop, his jaw parting slightly as he begins to pant. His ears turning back slightly, glad that the sun was setting now so he could relax a bit.

Except he just dropped a little nugget that made his ears fold tighter against his head.

"...These Colonies of yours sound about as bad as the Rogue isles." Hellhole is exactly the word he used.

"Called it the City of Villains for good reason."

"That is true ... we have slept in some very shoddy environments." Tyrion rubbed his beard thoughtfully, "And it would be delightful to have my own space, I must admit."

"Well, I suppose I shall simply have to go searching on my own. No worries, Podrick. I do not want to disrupt your life anymore than I already have."

He broke off another piece of chicken. "What is worse?"
tallasaking: (Oh Really?)

[personal profile] tallasaking 2016-06-17 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Tyrion folded his hands together, fingers linking together as he watched the quill move. "Yes, I suppose it is very complicated ... although I expect magic is very complicated period for the lay person. Which, I am."

He arched an eyebrow as the boy ran off upstairs, amusement flashing over his face as he handed over the booklet. "I see ... and he's some sort of hero then, like Bran the Builder or Lann the Clever."

"Milord, it is my pleasure to help you." He worked to speak, to overcome his natural urge to shut up and finally did. And his words echoed with the past. "There has never been a more true Lord." he meant it with a fierceness that shows in eye and voice.

Then he ducked his head and nodded.

"It is possible the Lady Sansa or one of her friends might have an answer I lack." He smiled at that.

And then grimaced "Fake blood pudding. With food coloring, milord."

"It took me a while to understand it. This is my own personal magic. And I hope I can use it for good."

He watched Tyrion flick through the comic. "Yeah. Thor is a hero. Loki's the villain. It's quite black and white but it's fun to read. My mom used to buy me those before..." He paused, wondering how to explain. In the end, he used a little white lie. "...before I got this." He gestured to the quill.
tallasaking: (Oh Really?)

[personal profile] tallasaking 2016-06-17 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I hope you use it for good as well, otherwise I'm going to be in an awkward sort of position. Watching you do bad magic, and all."

He nodded his head slowly, reading the pages. Art and writing together, fascinating. "So you could write your own stories, instead of reading those made by others?"
darkestauthor: (Author)

[personal profile] darkestauthor 2016-06-17 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Henry laughed again, though nervously. "I'd rather not do that again." He said softly. It hadn't been fun. Except it had. And that scared Henry.

Luckily, Tyrion changed the subject and he nodded. "That is my job. I'm the current Author. With this quill and ink, I document the stories of other people. The previous Author wrote that Storybook." He pointed the original one in which they'd seen Baelfire and Regina. "But he used the power for his own personal gain so it was then passed onto me."

He paused at that, his gaze quieting, searching the younger man's face, before he nodded quietly. "One day, Pod, when I am a Lord, you shall be the first Knight I put forth. You've more than earned it, with your loyalty."

He smiled slowly, before he nodded his head.

"I am sure she will. She's quite adapt at ... adapting." Not to mention surviving.

Watch as Tyrion's expression curls into disgust. "... why would they ever...?"

And those words, perhaps, more than any others he had heard, made Podrick's face flush and tears almost come to his eyes. But he blew out a breath, and smiled. "Thank you, milord."

"She seems so, yes. She seems, I think to also be an actress or growing talent."

Then he chuckled. "I know not, and I was too busy choking to ask, in all due honesty." Dead bodies he could handle, this mess he could not.

"But there is also something very good called a hamburger, which is a flame cooked meat from a herbivore, which tastes... very good, Lord Tyrion."

He was silent as he watched, and it was probably abundantly clear - especially to anyone observant - that he was absolutely rapt. Physical displays of magic weren't something he was entirely familiar with. His world never lent itself to that, but he knew that there was a chance for it. Cabeswater was like a version of it: it was a manifestation of the ley line. Everything Ronan dreamed: manifestations. The way he'd been saved from those tiles outside the school: a manifestation.

But nothing quite like out of a fantasy movie, not like this. This was like everyone's true version of magic, and he was all right with it.

Actually, he was really curious as to if he could do that one day.

"That's part of this place, isn't it? The energy you're using." It was speculation, of course, but his experiences lent themselves to it: not drawing power from oneself, but from an outside source. "You're tapping into whatever's keeping this place afloat?"
tallasaking: (Oh Really?)

[personal profile] tallasaking 2016-06-17 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Tyrion gave him a wry little smile at that, but his eyes narrowed slightly. "Hmm."

He allowed the conversation to shift alone, before he nodded his head. "So you are to write stories just for everyone else?"

"That's my job." Henry pondered it though. "I wish I knew more about it though. This has incredible power. I'm almost scared to use it sometimes."

He's not sure exactly what Tyrion wants him to say. Then again, he's not sure what to say to himself.

Her mind was both too active and not active enough. Like a gerbil in a wheel, it was turning, but it didn't seem to be getting anywhere. Everything that had been talked about before had more or less fled her mind at the news he had given her. While Emily knew that their job had risks on a daily basis, to actually be confronted with the news that it had happened... All of this was hard to wrap her head around to begin with, and that had only added icing to the cake. It wasn't every day that someone told you that you were dead without actually being dead. Not unless it was like those pictures that Emily had staged.

He had said that, hadn't he? She tried to focus, to keep her thoughts centralized, but she was finding it harder to do so. There might have been a sheepish hint to her expression, as if she had been caught, but it lasted for only a minute. In a way, she was both good and bad at fitting in to new places. Traveling around a lot as a child had forced her to try to fit in, although every time that she seemed to actually start to do so, her mother would move them again. She was also good at compacting information, of not letting it show. At least most of the time. It had been just recently when she had ended up throwing up a little on her shoes.

Her eyes sought his out at that answer, wondering what it would feel like... She wasn't a zombie, at least she didn't want to eat brains and didn't feel like one- although scratch that. Emily couldn't say that she was at the top of her game, but it would pass. She kept telling herself that anyway. Yet there was no questioning his actions, assuming that with everything he had gone through, there was that part that wanted to guarantee that she was alive and real and not some figment of his imagination.

"Not that long. It is my fourth day." She hadn't been up to too much those first three days, still reeling from everything that had transpired before coming here. A part of her still expecting Doyle to walk through the door at any minute. She had slept only when her body had called for it, and not in the bed, but in the strategically placed chair. But she had needed to do something, to get some sense of normality back to her life.

Vision is barely off the boat as well (though he flew most of the way, trying to see if there was a way off the islands), and while the names he downloaded from the devices match some he knows, the android is sightly surprised to find himself face to face with the Winter Soldier. There's barely a frown that crease his synthetic forehead, and though he means no aggression (the Soldier's file at S.H.I.E.L.D. mentioned the brainwash and mental control by HYDRA), concerns may be rendered through his gaze.

"James Barnes," he hails the man, waiting to see if the name would be recognized.

He tipped his head slowly, smiling over his glass of wine. He tipped his head down in a bow.

"Sansa? She is ... very good at knowing what to tell people with her expression, her eyes a mystery." He pressed a finger to his mouth, before he shook his head.

He made a face at that, before he tipped his head, "Indeed? Can I get one of those ...hamburgers here?"

"Well I can understand that. Incredible power can be absolutely terrifying, especially when you are not sure what you are doing."

He presses his lips together. "So tell me, was there no ... lessons? No book on how to be the Author? Ancient scroll, that sort of thing?"

"I spoke with the Sorcerer's Apprentice but then I was here so I'm really none the wiser. It's not really something to write down." Henry shrugged. "Maybe he'll turn up and help me. Either that or I'll just figure it out as usual." Nothing was ever simple for him anyway.

"Do you usually figure out things on your own?" He asked, as he skimmed through the comic book in his hand. "I had to do a great deal of that in my past. Figure out my life, on my own."
