Lyndon hadn't survived literally hundreds of demonic attacks at the crusader's side by being slow, even with a heavy crossbow. Every time he'd loosed a bolt, he'd immediately cranked the string back, knotting another. The process took precious seconds, but it was the primary reason he needed someone to distract the beast while he armed his crossbow.
He leveled the sight of the crossbow at the roaring mouth of the head on which Marie had found herself, waiting for just the right moment, and loosed the bolt into it's gaping maw. It struck home true and the head fell down to the ground. So encumbered, the last head shouldn't prove too much of a problem.
Lyndon laughed. "Ha! Did you see that shot?! Let's finish it off!"
