Trip Tucker - Star Trek Enterprise

2. Islands
To Trip, humming meant electricity, so he was trying to find the source. Sidewalks shouldn't hum, but lying on them and putting his ear to them hadn't got him very far. The statues were the same. He went all round one, before he established that the humming was louder around its head. The angle it was at meant that the best way to get a look at it was to stick his head through its arms and put his ear to its face.

It was definitely louder here and he turned his head to get a better look when the statue grew. Which wouldn't have been a problem, except that the arms stayed in the same place. It meant that instead of its arms being around his neck, where they've been before, they were around his shoulders. Which were considerably wider. It didn't seem to give him any room to get back out, no matter how much he wriggled. To add insult to injury, it was a female statue and his face was now level with its chest.

He had just enough room to take a deep breath and shout, "Help!"

5 At the Cocktail bar
While Trip was at the bar, waiting to be served he smiled at the person next to him. "Anything you'd recommend?" There was quite a list of cocktails, which made it hard to choose. "I'm not fussy."
