Marie found his confidence to be a curious thing. She didn’t know its source but she knew that it wasn’t a question that could be easily asked. Perhaps if she waited and saw for herself, assuming time would allow such a thing.
"Most of the world is a middle man." It was just an observation, something she’d noticed growing up in that house hold. There were levels and systems and everyone reported to everyone else with work being passed down and information being passed up.
Other than that Marie didn’t have much of an opinion. She couldn’t afford one before now and she was still adjusting to the flimsy idea of freedom that was presented to her when she stepped off the boat. Her path had always been set for her, she’d lived for others, now she had to find another reason or be swept beneath the harsh currents of the sea.
