It was strange. Even now, knowing that the person that was standing with her in the kitchen was technically younger than her, she felt as if she were getting a lecture from her older brother. Maybe it was just a quality that Alec had sort of patented. Either way, despite the fact that Izzy didn't agree, she didn't pursue an actual argument. Hodge had been there, a lot, when they were growing up. He wasn't their only parent, though. He'd betrayed them and he'd been selfish. He owed Alec more than they owed him, in her opinion....though, maybe not in the version that this Alec was telling. "I'm sure that he did that for you, the way that you remember things, but it definitely went down differently for me." Izzy offered, her tone relatively gentle and controlled.
Seeing her brother look away the way that he did, though, tugged at Izzy's heartstrings. She couldn't help it. She moved so that she could give him a bit of a hug, trying to offer some sense of comfort. They might not be overly affectionate all of the time, but sometimes Izzy just couldn't help herself. Alec was one of the most important people in her life, he always had been. "Well, I was there, right? I mean, you always know that you can count on me." Izzy couldn't imagine that there was any way that she wasn't the same even in his memories and everything that had happened for him.
Izzy didn't linger in the hug, not wanting to make Alec feel self-conscious, but unable to just leave her brother to think about something painful without offering something....even if she didn't remember it. It didn't really matter, to Izzy anyway, that she couldn't remember certain things. They had established that they were the same people when it all boiled down. Now, it was just a matter of figuring out why they remembered differently and if it were a bad thing...plus, going forward from there.
Snorting at Alec repeating Magnus' edict about arcane jewelry, Izzy couldn't help her grin. This was definitely not normal. Not for the Alec she knew, anyway. She'd never seen him repeat anything even vaguely related to style, other than to call things uncomfortable or to make faces at certain fashion choices she'd made in the past. "I can't say I disagree with Magnus. Ruby is definitely perfect for me, not you." Izzy shrugged, still wearing her grin. She didn't understand how things were different, but that didn't make the amusement that came from certain things her brother was telling her that had happened...any less funny to her. "Of course he won't because that's how the two of you are when you're not picking at one another and bickering."
Izzy knew her brothers. In that she'd always been confident. That was why she trusted what she felt even know; she didn't feel like she didn't know the Alec in front of her even if the memories didn't line up. Pausing and giving her brother a look, Izzy waited all of a second for him to elaborate on what story he was talking about. It was hard to be patient when he brought it up like that. "What story is that? I haven't had all that many conversations with Magnus that weren't about you so far." Izzy spoke, both teasingly, and seriously. Even when they'd both been going over the Forsaken Magnus had been focused on the taller and more masculine Lightwood.
The shorter sibling released her brothers arm after studying the rune closely for several long moments, still not able to place it. She didn't even think it looked legitimate in comparison to all of the ones that she'd learned through careful study. So, hearing that Clary created it caused Izzy's face to pinch into a frown. Clary could create runes? "It sounds dangerous and I'd say I'm surprised the two of you have tried it, but I'm not really. What I am surprised about is the fact that Clary did this, she made it, came up with it? I didn't know that she could do that." Izzy putt hat out there, losing track of the serious part of the conversation in favor of letting out another laugh, which was accompanied by a shake of her head at Alec and Jace's antics; they were different according to the Alec in front of her, but very much the same.

This was all so strange.
