Not a monster, no - but not human, either, in spite of appearances. A dryade is closer to a deity than a demon, but she cannot read minds, only expressions, and she has taken the hyacinth girl by surprise, causing her to fall.

"I did not intend to startle you," she apologises with sweet sincerity in Greek. A graceful hand abandons her device to offer assistance to the girl she's inadvertently hurt. "Allow me to help you rise, for I think we are both lost, here."

The nymph doesn't yet know she's not in the Underworld, or that her words will likely not be understood.
