It seemed they were going back and forth with a shaking of their heads. Derek was overwhelmed with feelings to where standing rigid was almost a form of keeping everything in. He stepped closer, still afraid that he might be having some kind of episode. "Emily, I held your hands in that basement. You told me to let you go and I wouldn't. Didn't. All the way until they took you in for surgery."
While he had developed affection and some trust with a few on the islands, he hadn't given any of those memories a voice--ever. This was the first. Doing so was pulling at the seam that held everything together. "He didn't have you for two months. You've been..." Derek couldn't finish that statement. Neither could he just stand there any longer. His strong arms enveloped the partner and friend he thought he lost.
"I was so angry that you didn't trust me how I trusted you but I understood in the end. I know what you did for Declan. I was so proud of you, Emily. If I'd just been a minute faster..." Morgan no longer cared if he was having a mental breakdown. The person he held felt real. He hadn't wanted to let go of Prentiss and maybe even had an irrational thought inside that if he never had, she would have lived.
He didn't understand how this island worked but he was grateful to it at the moment. The emptiness inside him was gone. In its place was some anxiety that he was experiencing some kind of hallucination and this wasn't real but the hell if it didn't give him some peace for the time being. All of his senses that were familiar with her told him she was real. Emily Prentiss was alive and hadn't left him. For once, he hadn't lost someone close to him.
