Okay, so the boat was new. Last thing she knew she'd just finished the "discussion" with Magnus over whose life was worse (turned out he actually was in the running), and then...a boat? How? Well, okay, "how" isn't maybe quite as important as "where" and "why." There are any number of "hows" that could have managed it.
But if the boat was odd, stepping off it was even more so. They were far too prepared for her. Either this happened quite a bit or it was planned. Neither exactly boded all that well. A map and a...phone? Hers hadn't worked, but she was always a little wary of them anyway. She wasn't even supposed to have one, but she did anyway. This one she couldn't vouch for. And who even knew what monsters were lurking around here?
She at least tried to be polite as she made her excuses, said her platitudes, and pushed past the people surrounding her.
And then she looked up at the city and froze. The architecture was gorgeous...but it's not...a city that she'd seen before.
